Great video, Mike. I never get tired of Burrtec. Alex runs this truck so well, so props to him. Him and Desmond definitely make a solid crew on a route like this.
Looks like Alex won the coin flip for dibs on who gets to drive haha. Quite the team they are. Truck looks incredible and nice touch having the rims painted white to match with the new paint. Loved seeing Alex raise the forks up while cruising back in neutral flooring it lmao. Amazing shots in this video (you actually made Riverside look nice!). Great job to you and the boys!
That's an awesome looking truck. I love how it is rare for a classic to be converted into cng because normally classic trucks would be scrapped. I'm glad they kept it and turned it into a cng truck
Wow it is a reincarnation of classic SoCal refuse vehicles of the past! CWS, Amrep, and FF Gomez seem to have played a role in making this truck come to life as a living oldie. After Crown went under and their custom top pack disappeared, I thought this type of front loader had ended its run. But apparently not, and I am not surprised that Burrtec was the one to revive the top pack since out of all haulers they are the ones who are known for expanding the service life of their trucks. I also love how they went with the rare underbody arm rams instead of the conventional ones mounted above and on the side of the loading area/packer chamber. That detail is a huge throwback to the early days of Amrep's revolutionary Octo front loader. But I would have loved it if the packer portruded out of the canopy cab cover similar to how Crown's Bridgeport's were designed, would have allowed to see part of the packer in action. Either way this is now definetly one of my favorite trucks.
This is such an awesome looking truck. The square body looks so good paired with a WXLL. Really cool how this is a top pack and that packing shot was awesome to see. hope someone catches this on food Waste. Great video!
Hope they dont use it on trash too often with the closed cab shield. Someone had the bright idea to cover the cab shield on the BP we got and it used to get full of boxes and the mechanics would have to clean it out from the inside.
What a nice rig absolutely love how it pars with the WXLL nice that you were able to film it on its first day looks like it shaved a good amount of the 30 years off lol nice find
Very nice! I like how burrtec will restore any old body and chassis. Very nice to see more of this guy, he’s definitely a pro now. Hopefully someone will catch this truck doing food waste. What benefits are there too a top pack? The helper seems like a tomato. Nice video!
Trash Man Daniel that’s what I thought but a recycling truck doesn’t empty them it’s our regular burrtec garbage man but he only dumps it every few weeks even though it’s full. I’ve noticed that at other complexes as well but thanks for the confirmation
Yes indeed it’s Awesome to see a top pack body back in the day we had many around Los Angeles I drove one it’s quick and can pack a solid load . This kind of truck is only for trash service no bulk items.
This is full So cal front loader square body half pack system just a Amazing find I hope Burrtec makes more of these body’s and the cable controls is also very retro . Great job BURRTEC on building this body I hope they built this body . Can you get info on who built the body .
Super interesting to see how far some of these ex Glendale chassis have come, guess they were too good to be junked. I was hoping someone would post a good video of this one after I saw Desmond’s photo and Aaron’s Flickr as well. Wow it took took me a good minute to notice those tippers along the forks, any plans to get this on carts? Burrtec always makes do with what they can get and I believe that’s what makes them one of the most favorable companies to all of us lol. Great work on this one, I’m definitely debating going to Riverside for a couple Saturdays. That square body looks too good!
I like how the drivers helper runs out and not help the driver back up that’s his kid like all that trash on the apron that’s the helper fault he should know to turn around over loaded bins . I was a helper my first 5 years this is how I know just pointing out his faults could be bad training .
Burrtec doesnt use helpers so the drivers never rely on them. This was a very rare situation to have 2 guys on the same truck so the driver didn't want him to back him up etc. Helper was going to get keys for the enclosures when he would run out of view so they were actually working very efficiently.

Pp hard. For the helper mostly. Desperate to know more about how they set up the packer.

Id though about that same thing. It wasnt the greatest idea thats for sure. I doubt itll be used on trash or recycle again any time soon.
Yeah top pack on recycle is definitely one of my least fun experiences so far.

That's awesome! Fresh and looking good!
Let's see 2481 next!

anyone know why I have 1 green front end load garbage can and 1 white one? The white cans are always full like Burrtec skips them
Grey is trash, white is recycling

the gallegos gang strikes again!
amazing video
Do they restore these older trucks?
Burrtec is cool. What are the advantages of a Top Pack versus a Bottom Pack versus your modern Half/Full Pack?
weight savings and no need to clean behind the blade which is a huge benefit for the driver if one uses this on food waste, which burrtec usually does
That’s an epic find! Nice work!

That operator is absolutely horrible. My guys here would not last very long if they dumped trash all over like this guy. We don't stand for that.
