Doing my grandma's 2017 sedona SXL as we speak ❤ this saved my day. The starter went bad so I replaced it and the battery. A month later the alternator starts throwing crazy numbers and goes bad. With only 41,229 on the dash for miles. 😂 Such quality! On the bright side this thing is fairly easy to work on for being a front wheel drive v6.
Thanks for the video. This is the best method. Mine died on the side of the highway; dead alternator. Started immediately with a jump. Looks like oil leaked into it from a bad valve cover gasket (125k miles). I was able to get a reman unit for $170 at AutoZone and had it changed out in a couple of hours. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I have a 2016 Sedona and I am unable to get that top right AC compressor bolt out. I cannot get anything on it due to the nearby lines. Has anyone been able to use strictly a typical ratchet and extension to get that bolt out?
What was the van doing? I have a 2016 and occasionally while driving all the dash lights will come on and the van will shut down. The battery voltage when off is 12.6 and 12.1 when running. I took the alternator off and it tested fine. I think I'll replace it anyways but wondering what happened to your van. Thanks for the video.
It shuts down while driving? That sounds frustrating. My van showed no signed of distress leading up to it not starting. It started normally, I drove to the store, then when I started the van I noticed the backup camera didn't come on. I thought that was funny so I turned the van off and after that it wouldn't start or turn on again. The power doors still worked, but one of the sliding doors acted kind of funny. It was long enough ago that I don't remember exactly how it was acting funny, just that it was acting funny. The tow truck came and tried to jump it. It would start really rough and was idling rough too. The instant the jumper cables were removed the engine died. This told me the starter was fine since it did start with jumper cables. So either the battery wasn't holding a charge or the alternator wasn't charging, or both. I went ahead and replaced both. The van has been a champ since. I hope that helps. Also, just my 2 cents, anytime I perform work on my car something is getting replaced. There is no way I'm going through the trouble of taking the alternator out just to put the old one back in. Cheers and good luck!
Hey super helpful what was your car doing? Was the lights flicking and all dash lights going on? I think I'm gonna have to do same thing Also where did u get ur alternator
About 5 minutes before it wouldn't start, the sliding doors acted a bit funny. There was no other indication that something was amiss. Alternator was from the local auto store. Autozone I think.

What ended up wrong with it? Ours is doing the same thing.
@Rooster_king I replaced the alternator (new, not remanufactured), and the battery (agm). I haven't had any problems since.
These cars suck to work on, I like my Chevy lol. But that made it a little easier, much appreciated 😂😭🤦🏻♂️
Do u take any of the pulleys off? Or just slide the belt off after releasing tension?
The belt slides on and off after tension is released. No need to remove pulleys.

@gnzorkvideo I fixed it Thanks for ur viedo
Did your battery light not come on when it was not charging?
It did not. I did not notice anything funny leading up to the alternator and battery failing. They likely brought each other down.
