    I’m a nurse, soon to be an NP in the States and the level of hoops as providers we have to jump to get stuff approved for patients is surreal. I’m also Colombian and like Angela, so proud of the level of care I receive in Colombia. I have the best insurance here but rather get my care in Colombia bc of the trust I have in them and the level of education they receive. Your best video so far. Thank you!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    My girlfriend is a Colombian and when she injured her shoulder. The doctor came to her house to give her the care she needed. You can't get that kind of care in America.
    I think insurance for her is about $85 usd. per month.

    I've been in Colombia for 18 years and have always been covered by EPS, with a monthly cost of about $35/month. I have been hospitalized several times, had multiple surgeries including cataract surgery and, I'm even having a lot of dental procedures including replacement of several crowns. Except for an approximately $1 charge for some medications, I have never paid anything outside of the $35/month. Healthcare in Colombia is indeed at least as good as in the US, maybe even better.

      What insurance do you use? I am Colombian and we planning in the future to retired in Colombia but I am trying to get insurance from my husband and I do have hard time to get it. The reason we are doing now it this because he is almost 60 years old but now I am also in the process to get him his residence because one of those complementary insurance said that he he needs to have a visa in order for him to get admitted. So we are on that process now. We see.

    part of why I'm moving to Colombia is here in Canada my knee's are constantly painful[6 Drs/surgeons have said I need dbl knee replacement, but won't operate until I'm 67!] I've stayed in Colombia for about 8 months previously & knees didnt hurt !!! must be the heat I guess...barometer has a lot to do with the pain also, coming in rainy season to dbl check knees dont hurt & if no pain in rain, start looking for condo/casa :)

    I live in the states , i got a pretty good insurance, the deductible is 6000 dollars, last week i went to the hospital due to food poisoning, they took 3 hours to assist me and the bill was 500 dollars for pretty much nothing . the US healthcare system is a total scam. i've heard friends having to pay up to 10.000 or 15.000 dollars for an ambulance. that is insane.

    I'm living in the Netherlands and I pay €128 a month and that covers everything except dentist costs. I go to Colombia early 2024 but I keep my dutch insurance and they pay health costs in Colombia as long the treatment costs are less than the dutch costs for the same treatment.

    When I applied for my 2nd pensionado visa earlier this year, I was told by the visa agency I hired to assist me that my EPS Sura basic insurance was not sufficient to satisfy the health insurance requirement provisions pertaining to coverage for death and repatriation. So I was advised to purchase a supplementary one-year travel insurance policy at a cost of almost $900 U.S. - a policy that in practice in almost useless to me. I was successful in being awarded the visa, but I would have wished not to have bought that additional policy.

    And $1500 deductible

    • @AKJoel
      @AKJoel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The deductible is the biggest difference, in many of the plans in Colombia there's no deductible. Also insurance for someone your age is only around $110 I believe - so if you do the math over a year that's a big saving. Glad ya enjoyed the vid mate!

    I havent seen the video but I know my Sura plan cost $120K COP ($30 USD) monthly for plan complentario. But if you want a "Poliza" which is even better insruance plan it starts at $300K COP and goes up to $750K COP per month. I also have a US plan in Florida under Florida Blue and I pay $40 per month but the co pays and the out of pocket is very high.

    • @AKJoel
      @AKJoel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The information overall was very helpful, although is very much directed to either single young viewers or retirees. I want to move to Medellin and we are a family of 4. I got a quote for SURA insurance and it was about $450 for the 4 of us. We currently pay $400 in the U.S through my husband’s employer.
    I also got a little confused with the EPS because I’m not sure how you can go around it paying based on the minimum wage while also for example owning a car. If you have a video related to this, that’d be very helpful to know! Thanks!!
