Hey, just started the game and wanted to start geese hunting with the dlc. I can’t place the decoys, it can’t be placed in this area? What do I have to do to place them ?
I actually love using the layout blind, and have taken over 150 geese in one sitting using the 6-shot 12ga Cacciatore before taking a break. It's really fun, and easy to do.
I keep meaning to give geese a go, but my shotgun skills are bad. Maybe I'll just keep at it and get better lol. Your vid has given me an urge to try it now. I got the DLC AGES ago when steam had a sale on dlc.
you can use a 22 if you’re more comfortable with that, my advice would be to use 2 shotguns (i use 20ga) and a semi auto 22 (i use the ar or the 22 pistol) double the shotgun rounds allows for a higher margin of error and you can use the 22 to get any stragglers after you run out of shotgun rounds

Can't hit a barn door! Mostly missing with shotgun, but getting one or two with Zarza.. But I want to increase my shotgun score so I can unlock the sight. Just gotta keep on practising. The vid was very helpful setting up etc. but only *I* can better my aim lol.
@@hedcaseI know this is probably way too late, but try changing your FOV in settings to 90, and when specifically hunting birds increase your sensitivity
Hey flinter When your done shooting the geese, and it's all purple like yours in video, the geese still come or is it better to relocate? and is it better to have a second or third setup to rotate to? From what I have seen u don't need to relocate they still spawn (I was hunting them for about 3 hours yesterday and made 105000!!!) And as for rares the Grey plumage type is considered rare and the lusistic and melanistic are very rare(for geese they aren't crazy rare but I haven't seen 1)
Pretty much geese don’t care about the hunting pressure but after awhile I’ll reset the time, go to a different map, back to hirsch, and start over again
Actually, the hunting preassure will affect the geese, because they no longer land on the ground or get spooked soon after they landed if the hunting pressure is high. If you rather wait until the geese land until you start shooting, you should consider that. Otherwise, they will still fly over, so if you have no problem shooting them in the air, it should not affect you.
I don't know if it's the new Revontuli update or what it is but the gees are so mutch faster than they are in the video and I don't really know if i am doing something wrong but after they land i can shoot maximum 2 and then they go zooming.
Can you make a new video on how to get handgun EXP? Im really struggling to get exp for it, besides using birdshot ammo for handguns (eg. killing rabbits etc)
Thanks. Even at level 52, I learned a couple of helpful things. I especially like the idea of using the 243, because with the 22 I am not very successful-yet, so I'm wasting lots of ammo=$$$. I just wondered why you would choose such a small field, surrounded by trees and heavy vegetation, making it harder to harvest your kills. especially for beginners. Your other video on geese hunting is the one I used for my 2 locations and they are paying off big time. THANKS again

I found a useful to just go sit out in a field and wait well don’t sit in the field, but sit out on the edge in some thick brush with just enough of an area for you to see
Hey ok so i got the dlc and followed video by the book even used same field but no matter what i do the geese don't land ??? i spaced out 20 decoys in middle of field and am even in a shelter but thet never land ooh and dogs laying down too , so frustrated as only got it to stack cash but only bloody shot 1 goose .Any help would be greatly appreciated as i have no idea why its not working for me cheers
Yea.. they changed the duck-behavier alot, not long ago - now, they twist and turn in the air, as they take off - Apparently, they dont like to land on regular fields anymore either ..the dense wood, is the new hot place to go(for them)?!! ..try go find them there..!! -.-
With the new update, the 22lr rifle has been nerfed or something. I can hardly hit anything with it. When I do manage to get a goose, I notice the shot placement on the harvest viewer shows my shots all over the place. Anyone else having this problem?

Without a Caller you can visit Jornsdorf from time to time the Geese fly Really low over the Mountain i have shot some on the South Cliff Outpost by the way up to North. And a lot of times i scarred some who was sitting in the Grass or swimming on the Lake by Mrs. Fleischers Hut
Does this still work? Im trying this exact same thing and the geese just ignore the call and the decoys and just fly over. Not close enough for the shotgun, so i cant shoot them at all.
As a beginner myself i would be interested in a video about the other weapons besides rifles. So pistols, shotguns and bows. The rifles got the range so right now i only use it. But where are the pros and cons about the other weapons? Atleast you using the shotgun here haha
Hey just found your channel as a new player and your videos are very helpful. But I wanna ask do you think buying DLCs such as gun packs can kinda "cheat" your way through the game? Because the guns seems kinda OP like the AR and stuff. I'm afraid maybe it will take away part of the fun early game? Is that the reason why you're resisting yourself using any DLCs? I don't know if I should buy the bundle or just the base game.
My advice for console players is don’t use the 20 gauge to hunt geese. You normally will have to make follow up shots, which are difficult enough on console, and you’re just wasting time on one geese.
@@teddyb34r there are 2 guns I recommend but I can’t remember which ones. As long as it’s not the 20 just find which one works best for you. Maybe you miss shots so you need ammo capacity. Or maybe you’re grinding for money so you’d need more ammo to take down more birds. I recommend 2 shotguns and a .22 to follow up as they fly away.

What would be better the .300 or 7mm. The .300 has more rounds for follow up shots but I rarely do that or shoot other ones. But the 7mm covers more classes so which is best.
I would go with the 7mm. It’s cheaper, and you can take more species with it. You can drop a whitetail, or take a Buffalo. I’ve taken shots at over 400 meters with it. I’ve also gotten follow up shots with it too, so that won’t be an issue, as you can reload pretty quickly.
If you aren’t worried about taking multiple shots I would choose the 7mm and exactly as Christopher says, you can practically shoot anything with that gun and it’s not as expensive 😅

@@thelastsurvivor482 You could use the .300, the 243, and a 22 or shotgun. If you’ve already got the 300, I wouldn’t worry about the 7mm, although lower class animals do die a lot quicker when shot by the 7mm when compared to the 243.

I guess there are updates and patches since (PC), now I cannot put the decoy down on this reserve or Layton Lake. I try using the duck caller to get them down but the just circling too far up for any shot. So, now the decoy and the weopon pack 1 to hunt duck is useless for me....lol
Same, I believe they changed their behaviour and even increased speed while fleeing. You should just let them land and then shoot. I'm killing like 2-4 for each wave but they are coming back very fast, like 1 min after I'm getting back to that "bed". Perhaps this method of farm is not such OP as it used to be, but still very good imo.
Geese disappear for anyone else? I watch them fall and when I go to pick them up they are all gone. They only don’t disappear unless they land before I shoot them
Whenever i kill a goose and i see it go down and feathers fly, i cannot find or retrieve the goose i know I’ve killed about three so far and I’ve found none
Always spot and them and bring your dog out if you saw a blad splatter or tracks dog will find it just go to where you hit it and dog will track it at 50 meters

At 13:10 in the video he states that hunting pressure (the purple area) will affect other species but not geese, they will continue to come.

Little late to the party here but quite simply its the same thing. Stick your decoys out. Call them in when they fly overhead and use a shotty.

I am too. I thought I was not landing damage but when I use the shotgun they drop like flies.

I managed to get all DLC together in a pack when they were on sale, though that was a while ago
Christmas time there is a sale. Doesn't help much right now but if they release a new map maybe a sale then.

Even on pc its hard to use birdshot with goose since they fly higher than smaller birds and super fast to take off

Tried this now and it is nothing like the video. Maybe because of the update. The geese don't land near me

You need twelve great ones
