Thanks mate. That was very useful. I have a 01 929 and a fork seal has just gone. Still don't know whether to change them myself or pay someone to do it for me. But at least I know what I'll be getting into.
No problem at all, where abouts are you from? If you take it step by step its not too difficult but just got to keep everything in order and be careful of the seals themselves. Thanks for the message 👍
Hey Dan, thank you for the video! Can you slide the dust seal just right in? Or is also with a "special tool" like the oil seal..? I have to do my 929 forks next week because of a leak...hope it's gonna be alright if i follow your instructions! :-) What are the exact oil specs..? Because if i search for "fork oil", there is lots of choice betweens the different "W" types....
Hi Gerry, no problem glad it's helpful. I don't know the exact specs off hand sorry. I think I used about half a litre per fork leg and it was either 5 or 10w but I would double check with whoever you buy the seals from as they should know the required amount and specs. Yes once you've done the rest you can literally just lube up the dust seal slide it down and tap it in with a rubber mallet, or if your fitting new you can do like I did with the oil seals, cut the old one, stick it around the tube and tap it in. Good luck!
Ye good, ive taken it to 4 track days, well 3 and a half as used my bandit for half a day at the last one. Dropped the blade twice (lowsides) but only cosmetic damage which I could repair on the day and carry on, otherwise bike itself has been spot on. I will go grab the link for my latest bike track day, thanks for asking 👍
If you missed the first part, taking the forks off, look here: th-cam.com/video/VMfx3VBZkhk/w-d-xo.html
