I always found it bizarre how this game about toy soldiers has probably some of the most realistic-feeling gunfights on PS1 (barely any music, believable explosion effects, loud echoey gunshots, low character health, everyone just lying down behind cover and taking occasional shots at each other), in addition to fairly impressive movement mechanics like crouching and low-crouching behind cover, going prone, leaning and rolling on the ground.
Guess what..I mean..this game..Army Men ..such a classic..super fun..enjoyable..n original art..plus..no violence..no s*x things..no bad language..unlike game/cod today..piece of shit 😑👎
I would play a new game like this. Barely any games have a similar aesthetic to the early grungy dark PS1 games. I love that style and the draw distance was the problem for these games.
I would honestly buy this game again if it were brought out for modern consoles. This game was just fucking awesome. Some of the most memorable missions i've ever had were from this game. And the majority of the time, I was dying and getting frustrated with this game but it was awesome Shame the disk got scratched and wouldn't work anymore.
Thanks for making this. I'm playing through this on hard right now and struggling to get through certain sections. I don't think I would've ever made it past the trench level with the invincible flamethrower patrols without this guide.
Had tons of fun playing this with my dad, I was a massive fan. I used to try and build mini battles in the living room, and try to recreate the buildings from Army men RTS. I managed to get passed the bomber mission but the take the trenches mission is so difficult. It's a shame what happened to the series. Someday I believe the Army men games will return.
Well, there have been indie games about them, good ones too, since the one who owns the license to Army Men cannot sue because Army Men is a genre, basically plastic soldiers are very generic, as long as you don't still the characters, songs, levels, and any who from their game, then it's fine, and since they won't pump out another game except lock on to their Free2play the Army Men series has grown stale, luckily indie devs are here to help, I'm making my own Army Men game to recreate the experiences of the old ones, but better, imagine a FPS Army Men game with carry weight, some elements of Minecraft like breaking, crafting, and building, along with food and thirst meters, and a temp meter, and with science of size difference, boost of speed, strength, and jump similar to ant but better, now imagine a whole neighborhood to explore, 25 house and many levels, but it's more like if Battlefield 2 Modern Combat had a baby with Skyrim when it comes to levels and the map, (if you don't know about those games I suggest to look up a play through to get the feeling of the atmosphere), and paint people green, tan, indigo, red, grey, orange, black, violet, brown, blue, and yellow, they represent all the nations that exists, and some of the toys came to life as well, with technology ranging from WW2 to the present, but where are the humans? You'll have to find out when it's done. It's as big as Skyrim, and I want people to feel like they are tiny but mighty, making the ones who own the license to Army Men be jealous, but I might give the game to them, as long as they don't mess with a thing, and they will get the money, I care about this game more than money, I care about experience than microtransactions, many I sell it to them or not, either way it's being made, and I haven't seen a patent yet, so, I hope you come across it in the far future. It will be called, Bac 2 The Plastic. Or something similar.
I barely got past the plane mission then stalled soon after. One of the most difficult games I ever played. Come to think of it, I played until the invincible flamethrower carts in the trenches and just gave up forever in a mixture of terror and hopelessness.
My favorite parts with this game. 16:57 the train derails as it leaves, 38:39 the tail on the huey model is positioned over the exhaust, 47:30 building just vanishes and then comes back.
Hey For those of you who miss this and want to replay it with others we have a Garry's mod Server Called Plastic Warfare, You are able to join Green, Tan, Blue, and Grey Nations -Anaglyph Networks
I spent many years as a child playing these games, I found it to be an incredibly difficult game, i remember never having a memory card so having to complete the game every night was a nightmare, the whole Army Men saga was definitely difficult, some of the best games I’ve ever played. I need to get a PS1 again so badly
I recently discovered this game when I bought this in a lot. Everything including graphics of this games is surprisingly good. The controls were good for the setup and the combat feels engaging.
This is the army game every kid who played with plastic army men back in the 1970s and 80s wish they had back then!!!!!!!! IMAGINE if you were a kid back in the 1970s and someone connected this ps1 console with this army man videogame for you to play? You probably would be in shock of how amazing it is to play, that you wouldn't believe whats going on!!!!!!
Never managed to beat the bomber mission, I remember giving up and just playing the previous missions over and over again and playing alone the MP mode.
i used to play this with my father as a kid, he doesnt like me anymore but he doesnt know how much I cherished this memory. we havent spoken in so long. this game is all iv got left and I dont even have a copy :(
If you have interest in any PS1 Army Men games then you're at the right place! I have all of them covered and recently did a deep dive into N64 Sarge's Heroes.
would love a current gen army men game in this style ! with the black and white news reel intro and similiar gameplay but upgraded and modern graphics. they could even set it after sarge's war and give it a decent story with new characters except Sarge but with the green vs tan war reignited.
Para mi cuando niño este era mi Battlefield V y siempre lo sera cuando mi hermano y yo jugabamos el Multiplayer aun me acuerdo de mi mapa favorito era Tank trouble
I let my dad do this mission when I was a kid because he was in the army and knew every enemys position from the pilot shouting 1 o clock or 4 o clock lol
Me and my dad played the hell out of this when I was a child man! Such a classic game honestly it had everything mechanically that you’d want from a modern day shooter like a call of duty Absolutely abysmal game but somehow wasn’t at the same time… So bad it’s good? 😅
I loved Army Men series. I just wish 3DO would take the time to polish and release 1 game a year instead of spamming them like asset flippers on Steam. The quality of this game proves that it was quantity over quality for 3DO.
I haven't played this in years in the 2nd stage of the 2nd mission is really the hardest in the whole game i always wondered if this is on the playstation store
There's a way to play these games online on PC using Parsec. I've already tested Sarge's War and it works very well. If you're interested to find out more, let me know :) I've created a Discord server dedicated to the multiplayer mode
Every time I have to deal with that mission I try to memorize the directions from which the enemies appear and shoot in that direction in hopes of shooting them down before they are visible.
Honestly the tank patrol is the hardest in my opinion. Never have I ever in the history of videogaming had I been more frustrated with a level. To this day I still can't beat it. I just recently started playing this game again just to beat this level.
Night Stalker and Dreadnaught Factor shooter videogames with infinite ammo on Intellivison from the early 1980's was quite a break through back then and with sharp excellent graphics.
the bomber mission was very hard for me too...figther at 1 o'clock fighter check low....fighter 9 o'clock......FIGHTERSSSSS....YOU GOT A HOLE IN YOUR LEFT WING!
I just found my PS2 and my copy of this game a while ago and I just played a bit today, I didn’t know there was a multiplayer. Also I’m over here playing on like 0 brightness with 144p and this dude’s over here playing with 10 brightness and 1080p 😂
I never beat this game. I remember trying and trying with the same outcome. I could never destroy the communication disk in the city at 54:00. I died in that area u used the mortars…I honestly don’t recall squeezing through the alley like u did to use mortars. I think I followed the road every time and met the same fate EVERY TIME! 🤦🏻♂️ I remember the bomber mission being hard as well, but doable
I loved this game as a kid, it was the first game I completed back in 2001, however I found the last mission a little underwhelming even as a 9 year old.

This is the best yet the hardest of all Army Men Series
Count Gustav I love all of them there is good
team assault too
i thought this game was hard af but i was afraid i might not be remembering it right. i was like 5 years old when it was new
@@Count_Gustav especially the bomber mission, had to remember trial by errors
I forgot how quiet this game is. It kind of gives off an eerie vibe
I remember owning this as a kid. I could never beat that bomber plane turret section though. It was just too hard.
Haha god that's probably my most hated mission of all of the army men games
I took a pen and pencil and jotted down every single attack direction and it took me 5 times to beat that mission
@@BladeNightWing Asian style
@@BladeNightWing Smart! I wish I thought of that as a kid. I plan on revisiting the game soon, so I will probably try that route lol

I never even completed the 2nd mission. Damn I was bad at this :D
Me too
The bomber sequences and the vehicle chases are very ambitious for the time but these guys made it work despite the Primitive gameplay.
The army men games need a remake.

Holy shit dude this game was such an epic movie when I was 8. Love the train action scene and they do not make games like this anymore.

Was I the only one that tried so hard to save those machine gunner allies in the first mission?
Best defense in these games is offense. The sooner you take out the enemy, the less risk for them.
Dfactor Longplays True. Shame that they don't make games like this anymore.
Most times I would just run pass the first part just to get there.
I never could pass the bomber mission. Always got wrecked Everytime. My favorite mission was the one where you blow up the bridge.
