I always wondered when someone would come out withthis for Subarus , they has been kits for Honda k series for a while now and love the way the engagement is enhanced , so happy petting did this now I can install them in my WRX
Scared to do this on my sti. I’m gonna go with a kartboy short throw and bushings first. I don’t want to have to muscle it into gear. But I like a notchy shifter feel
@ I watched smeedias video installing it in his 04 sti transmission and he couldn’t even shift it without two hands. I’m just gonna wait around and watch more reviews. That’s the only thing scary about it to me honestly.
This affects the shift rods within the trans, not the short throw shift linkage itself. Basically it affects the "notch" that you feel when going into gear, not the throw or the slop or anything like that from the linkage. You'd notice it whether you've altered your shift linkage or not.
@@waybachpeople often confuse short shifter and short throw shifter, they're not the same at all, but you CAN have both haha. Short shifter is literally a lower shift knob, like lower down in the shift boot compared to stock. A short throw shifter is an assembly that decreases the distance between the engagement points of each gear and neutral. The short throw shifter is helpful, but it doesn't change how the actual "notch" is felt when you put the shifter into a gear. I'm not saying this detent kit is worth it, I haven't tried it yet. But it does affect the way the shifter slots into gear
I hope a detailed video installation will become available soon 🫡

Got these out a week ago, can’t wait to install
Cool part. Can't wait to install mine.

Doesn't seem scary but it's good to not do too much at once otherwise you won't know what caused what

@ to add to that he probably did too much at once in the video so not sure lol
So a detent it’s just 5 bolts and a wrench?
Hey guys. Will this work on a 2022-2024 with the oem sti short throw shifter? Mine came with that option installed
it should work because these detent springs kit installs on the transmission itself.
@yosephk.2945 thanks man
What if you have a short throw shift kit already installed, would this even be worth it?
I'm wondering the same thing.

@@richilg1 ah makes sense brother, thanks for your input
Probably not tbh.. as a short shifter is already quite notchy
