Actually the oem head gaskets are fine, it’s the head studs that can stretch at 400+whp. And 18psi is the sweet spot even on 91. I’m at 315whp 345tq on 91 at 18psi ish
Love the How To Modify series... Thanks for making one for VBs. You are 100% correct, I do get " I dont like the new WRX but yours looks sick." A little love to the exterior goes a long way.
100%!! I was in the camp that did not like the VB at all when it was initially announced and revealed. At the time I owned a 2015 VA WRX. Over the past couple of years the VB has slowly grown on me after seeing some very tastefully modded VB's in the wild. When the engine in my VA decided to not cooperate with life and end itself, I decided to head out to the local Subaru dealership and take a closer look at the VB's, and drive one. A few days later, I was driving off the Subaru lot with a '24 VB WRX. I love it! I've been following your VB build for some time now @Mario64WRX. Absolutely sick VB brother!!
Had mine for 2 and a half years. Heavily modded and pushing 20lbs of boost with stock internals and turbo. Been very reliable and even took a trip down the east coast and back wo issues. Tuner is Dmann. Also jpipes he recommends P&L or STM over ETS. He's had better experience getting more power out of those than the ETS.
Glad to hear about reliability when tuned. Myself, stock and maintenance. Still, 34k miles and not a light bulb went out, not a noise from the plastics, not a single issue. Performance and long term ownership. Best of both worlds!
@@SumSubie Their aluminum products are good if you aren't too picky about having guaranteed 5052 vs "aerospace grade" for a similar price point, but most of the issues over years they have supported the vb platform are from their lack of a good customer support system for when the fitment tolerances or paint matching of their plastic products is wrong. Take it with a grain of salt for sure, cause while I'm definitely not saying that everything they sell is bad, there are other companies that sell similar products but with better customer service support for handling production errors, and I went with them for the peace of mind.
This guy probably drove straight into a curb and broke his AFD front lip before writing this 😂 Nah but for real I’ve never had an issue with AFD cosmetic parts, customer services, shipping times, etc. They’ve actually been great in my experience. Obviously there are way better options for performance parts… if you’re buying non cosmetic AFD parts then you prob didn’t do your own due diligence lol.
@@Dylen7 Nah ur right 100%, the insurance money after helped me pay for a full APR exterior lol But seriously, yeah just do your own research and do whats comfortable for you. At the end of the day its your car, and I'm just a guy on the internet.

@spacedmellow5031 not much difference really. Basically the turbo spools about 300 rpm later. So basically the curve shifts a little more right. You lose a little (not much really) low end and gain a good amount up top
i actually dont mind the plastic fenders on the vb. i recently bought the all black and it blends well. If they ever get worn out i could always just get the paint matched fenders in the future
I recently bought a 2024 VB WRX.. I previously owned a 2015 VA WRX. The FA20 in the VA decided to exit stage left back in May of this year, contemplated doing a full rebuild on it.. Meanwhile, while I was still working out getting the rebuild started, I decided to drop by the local Subaru dealership.. Salesman asked if I'd like to take that white VB WRX over there for a ride. "nah, I'm good. I'm just looking." That didn't last long.. Once I returned from test driving the VB WRX, paperwork started, I's crossed and T's dotted, and I drove the Ceramic White VB WRX home that next day. I've been super impressed with the VB in the short 3 months I've owned it. Tastefully modded, OEM++ if you will.. Ended up selling the VA 'as-is'.
Yup I drove a VB then drove a VA sti ended up buying a VA sti.. I’m more than happy. VB engine is cool but the cladding and money u have to put into it to make it look nice is not cool.
Got me a '24 wrx as well. I hear these are the BEST wrx since inception. If so, I can't WAIT to pay this off and get rid of it. My '10 IS F is 10× the car this could ever become. Just hit 1k miles today.
Tomei isn’t too loud if you are running it alone since it comes with a resonated mid pipe. You throw other stuff on with it and yeah, it will be loud. Otherwise, it’s surprisingly tame. Have had a single exit Tomei on my car for more than six months now.
I think everyone references Tomei on the previous generations without listening to their exhaust systems on the VB. I have the dual can and it's not that loud.
15-17 psi is low, stock head studs can last up to 450whp, 265s tend to rub especially with lowered coilovers, sti wings are a little too narrow for this body type, gesi catted downpipes can still throw a cel and there is still no fix.
Alex I have a challenge for you... There's always talk about the JDM cars we never got. But what about the ones that we did we get exclusively here like the eclipse, sentra/Altima SE-R, TL type S heck even the Ford Probe which is technically a Japanese made Ford right?
im just waiting for the TS next year now and I did watching lots of tuner video for this car, it seems like the this VB WRX the transmission REALLY REALLY EZ TO BREAK ONCE U TUNE to high horse power, can anyone say something I don't know or I shoulda be aware something after I got my car??
7:17 Look at those cute little itty bitty brakes. Just get a STI instead of spending all that money upgrading a wrx and trying to make the vb less ugly.

Just got a VB and want to to do full e85 tuned like my evo9, conservative tuned not loud my goals are 350whp
You can make 350 on pump gas, e30+ would put you at 380 whp/400 wtq. ETS intake, Jpipe, tmic or fmic and you are good to go
