I can't believe we live in a world where a 1/1 shrine token is almost the same price as terror of the peaks. Imagine if all tokens cost that much, krenko decks would cost more than buying a luxury car
Wizards should make a token booster pack for people that want to have official tokens for decks. Make it like the opposite of regular boosters where it’s all tokens except for a chance that the “ad” will be a card from the list. Rarity will be more by artwork than what token it is and you could get more than one of the same token per pack, but no repeat artwork per pack barring a foil of something you got.
Here's an even better idea. Run down the list of tokens throughout magic's history, and do it as a massive back. double side all the tokens and print every single solitary bloody fucking token ever mentioned on a card and be done with it. there are a METRIC TON of old cards that never got tokens. And don't stop there. Take cards that make token copies, and give us something to use for said copy, like mimic Vat or Stolen Identity with art and a name indicating what they are representing. No holds bar, every token ever created now represented, guaranteed without gambling. You need 10 copies of some tokens? buy 10 of the pack. I'd totally go for it even if it cost like 25, 30 bucks for just one pack, simply so I could have some obscure tokens.

Cats and cantrips has amazing tokens! If anyone is one is on the fence about quality, don't be. I have bears, koma coils, tentacles, insects and plants, all of which of high quality and just a joy to look at.

I actually got the CatsAndCantrips token and it looks amazing in person too. Great quality and gorgeous. Plus, they sent an extra 0/1 plant token that was cute as well. It was a little plant in a boot. Highly recommend it! 😊
I also like to use “art cards” from the set boosters for this purpose. I have a Koma deck that makes a lot of coil tokens and they are $6-7 each. I just use the art cards for $0.15 each and a dice for the power/toughness!
That catsandcantrips Etsy seller also sells coil tokens (10$ for 10) so I'd go check them out. I went there for shrines then ended up buying a bunch of other tokens too.
reminds me of the 1/1 colorless spirit token from original kamigawa (was a prerelease promo). the land which creates this, is a commander staple too. but with neon dynasty, we finally have colorless spirits with a fantastic artwork

About the Johannes Voss shrine token, it is currently on Kickstarter with some 20 other tokens to choose from (or you can get multiples of one). I think it'll have both sides as the shrine token, though. One thing that was not mentioned, btw... IT'S SHINY. I've bought from one of his kickstarters before and love them.
I was amazed to find this out, I luckily did open go shintsi and the token in the one box I bought. That is not usually my luck but I can tell you I would have found something else to run instead no worries
I've got an idea for wotc which they'll not do. They should print a few million of the shrine tokens and send them to all lgs' at no cost for them to give out for free while making a giant public announcement to keep the shadier stores from selling them at inflated prices.
I use the blank cards to play test before buying real cards. It saves a lot of money and keeps you out of the hype for the most part when done correctly.
Instead of buying a 20$ token that doesn't exist, I just got some of the little monopoly grey houses and use those as my shrines. It's really cute tbh.

If I don't have the actual token, I tend to either grab a card from a different card game or I'll use one of the blank double-faced insert cards and doodle on it to show what it's supposed to be. Hell, for the longest time I used Nappa from the old DBZ TCG as a 1/1 GW Elf Warrior.
I pulled 2 shrine tokens, called my local store and they didn't want them. I don't see a high volume of sales on TCG so I think most people are on board with making/buying alt tokens. There is a rarity currently but won't they get printed in the next print runs etc? I mean, I definitely wanted to trade two tokens for a Misty Rainforest. NGL. But, I'm also almost done building my Go-Shintai deck and they can just stay in there for now. Maybe they get printed into the earth's core or maybe they become a collector's card later.
I tend to use pokemon cards for all my tokens. Just match up a pokemon with the token you want to use. I keep a card written with what card matches what token and it feels more personal that way.
I was helping during openning set booster boxes at my LGS and there I opened at least 5 of those tokens in about 30 boxes. So it was not left out of all prints, not at Europe 😅
I happen to have a 3d printer and am having fun making tokens with a ticker in them for this. If they turn out well, I might make more for other tokens as well.

Got a Shrine Token after 3 boxes of Set Booster. Welp worth every penny spent indeed. But its true that this one token is so damn rare that opening one is already considered a blessing.
Personally, I use some cards from dead card games to use as tokens, not just because of the amazing art but also because some I cherish when one of the game was still around.

Yes it’s apparently an issue with the boxes printed in America. I think the UK gets their supply from Belgium mostly. I could be wrong though so don’t quote me.

I got lucky and picked up an actual Shrine Token for under 10$ right before people found out they were Extreme Super Rare... so I got my 1 copy... It pains me.. I will not have the 10 I was wanting...
Or wizards can spend some money, which they have a shit load of, to print a nice batch and send them to a lot of tcg stores with a nice apology note that states how they own up to their mistake.

The store I order singles from sent me two tokens for free with my preorder, but I don’t think they realized that this was an issue lol.

I have sold 4 of these on my TCGplayer store, the first 3 for $30 each, and the last one for $20.
i pulled two of them, one of them was in my pre-release kit, so i dont need to worry, just use one and a spindown counter for the rest
