  • June started off with adventure: We visited the small village of Dunning to see the Dupplin Cross, which dates from around 800AD and has beautiful Pictish carvings. Then we drove towards Glendevon to visit a hillfort on Down Hill, which overlooks the glen. Though it is yet to be excavated, it has a remarkable coffin-shaped inner fort (65mx26m) and earthen ramparts around it.

In June we also took part in an archaeological tour of East Lomond, a hillfort in Fife. It was organised by the Falkland Estate, which owns the land, and after the tour we explored the estate for the first time. The tours will likely be happening once a month, but you can get onto the next one here: falklandestate...

The rest of the time we enjoyed the warm summer weather and I captured many beautiful nature scenes to share with my viewers. So enjoy! ;)

16:56 The Memorial Chapel was commissioned by Lord Ninian Crichton-Stuart's after his eldest son Ninian Patrick Crichton-Stuart died in 1910 at the age of just 3 years. The architect Reginald Fairlie was recruited to design the chapel. It was intended to be the local Roman Catholic church for the Falkland area of Fife as well as a memorial to the 3 year old Ninian (who is buried on the site). The ground work, foundations and walls were set and constructed between 1912 and 1914. Then in October 1915 Lord Crichton-Stuart was killed at the Battle of Loos. Work on the memorial chapel ceased. In the end it was decided to leave the project exactly where it was when Lord Crichton-Stuart died in France. The walls, window spaces and eaves were consolidated and that is the "stopped clock" we see today.

Nibbling on tasty fruit has always been a favorite pastime of many. Wanting, waiting or taking bites is what differentiates us.

Lovely video! I’ve been meaning to head up down hill, and see the fort myself!
In the video at around 10:29 the loch, is castlehill reservoir man made I actually have a picture before they built the dam, im not sure how I could send it privately via TH-cam, but if you have any other social media platforms I’d be happy to share it with you! in the picture you can see the farm houses a bridge to cross what was the river Devon now castlehill reservoir!
    Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Interesting it was all built from scratch! I knew it was a reservoir, but I thought there might have been a water source there before. I have an Instagram, it's linked in the descriptions if you want to send it there.
