You really didn't look into what actually happened after Miguel dove on those people did you? He didn't perfectly demonstrate that if you play it cool it doesn't have to be awkward... he got sued over his negligence.
MJ had a right to be confused. I dont know of any other artist getting an award at an awards show for turning 44, or h×ll turning any age. Which yes, its MJ, but still... you give an award you've never given before, and its for a birthday? Which doesn't make any sense - you can't blame him for getting confused.
I feel so sorry for MJ in general. I think they did and still do him dirty, for things he didn't have any control of. I think that he was mentally ill (and I'm NOT shaming him, it's no wonder with his history) and people made fun of him for that. Today you'd get cancelled for what Jimmy Fallon did back then. I loved MJ deeply and I hope he finally found his peace, wherever he might be now.
I felt so bad for her! Her breakthrough role outside of Broadway was a cartoon character. So no one outside of that world knew what she looked like or in that case, her real name. And you can tell how hurt she was when she performed
The woman laughing when her top came down and her bra was showing was such a good sport. Sometimes you just have to giggle. That’s all you can do. It could happen to anyone. Glad she just laughed and moved on.
It doesn't get more awkward than Kanye interrupting Taylor. If you think the 2017 best picture screw-up was a genuine mix-up, you should be stripped of your right to vote.
@@unknown-lf6zx Idk Chris Rock took it well. What Will did was wrong but he had somewhat of a reason, Kanye just purely disrespected Taylor. I'd much rather be slapped (but not injured) over a joke I made then outright get told on stage that I didn't deserve my award
Biggest omission: the first-ever Best Metal Performance announcement at the Grammys. This award was created specifically to honor Metallica. They had just tragically lost bassist Cliff Burton, and their latest album ...and Justice For All was a critical darling. They were even invited to perform at the show and completely hit it out of the park. And the award for best Metal Performance goes to... Jethro Tull, a band best known for playing the flute onstage.
I remember that! When the nominations came out, I was was amazed Jethro Tull was a nominee. They’re a good band but about as heavy metal as an empty soup can. Then, when JT won, we all shook our heads collectively. It was obvious the Grammy membership was out of touch and well, ignorant. There was such an outcry that I think it shook up the membership, and major rule changes were made. I haven’t watched the Grammys in a long time but it seems they reward profit over artistry. For example, U2, Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. had been putting out amazing albums for years, but none of them were huge blockbusters. They weren’t nominated for anything, either. However, when each finally broke through and had a blockbuster album, selling millions, the Grammys finally seemed to notice them. Nominations were issued, and these artists won major Grammy awards. They still need education on the Alternative Rock category!
I remember seeing the infamous "Ballot Screw-up" on the Oscars. I felt sorry for the producers of La La Land. They started saying their thank yous, then got the Best Picture Oscars yanked out of their hands and rushed off the stage after they were told about the mistake. The embarrassment they must have felt. Also an Honorable Mention must be given to Jennifer Lawrence for tripping on the stage as she was going up to get her Best Actress Oscar for "Silver Linings Playbook".
Where are moments like Adam Lambert's 2009 AMAs performance, or even Anna Nicole Smith's drunken speech as she introduced Kanye West at the 2004 ceremony? The ones I remember most are Adele Dazeem and the Taylor/Kanye feud.
MJ was told backstage that was the name of the award & MTV called the award that name on their website on the same night; seemed like another attempt to humiliate him.
I haven’t even passed it, but I think Miguel should be in the top spot. That was HORRIFYING, and I’m pretty sure another audience member was very injured.
There was that time at the Oscars when Adrian Brody grabbed Halle Berry, bent her over backwards and forced a violent kiss on her that goes down as MY worst moment. In my life, I mean.
Many award shows which I've ever seen in decades were the Golden Globes, the Grammys, the Emmys and the Oscars as well as others too are provided some awkward but funny moments here.
Childish Gambino winning song of the year at the Grammy's for This is America - The people there accepting the award on his behalf awkwardly tried to get the award from Alicia Keys who turned away from them and for some reason kept repeating "Childish!"
On the MTV website before the 2002 award show, they clearly stated that Michael Jackson was to be honored with an “Artist of the Millennium award.” With that context, I assume Britney was asked to use particular wording that lacked the explicit announcement of an artist of the millennium AWARD. There was no confusion on Michael’s part, he accepted the award he was told he’d be receiving. Sure enough, MTV deleted their original statement as the prank unfolded, making it look as if Michael was so narcissistic that he gave himself a non-existent award. His security from that evening said he locked himself in the car and cried after realizing what had happened.
I haven't even started watching this, but I'm gonna call it: number 1 is either John Travolta or Kanye West. (edit): RIP. Kanye was only second. However, I personally think that one is more awkward than the La La Land debacle.
@@Lost20048 There's a minimum of *TEN* music videos from the 80's and 90's that I could name *off the top of my head* that are more creative than what Beyonce and two backup dancers do.
I have one probably dumb question so the surfboard that you get at the Teen Choice Awards can you actually surf with it or is that just a prop? Don't judge me because you're probably thinking the same thing at some point
I actually think that Amy Schumer confusing Kirsten Dunst for a seat filler was more awkward. The slap was definitely more shocking, but in terms of awkwardness, the Dunst incident wins
I remember one. Guns 'n' Roses was accepting a Grammy for best new artist in 1988. Axl was a bit drunk, and he began his acceptance speech "We'd like to thank fuckin'...oops." Because this was live the expletive was broadcast for all (including me) to hear. After an awkward silence, their music was played as a cue to leave the stage, which they did. Does anyone else remember that?
I'm surprised no1 wasn't Gervais telling people to come get their award and sit down and to NOT turn their speech into political mouth garbage. (which they did ANYWAY!)
Maybe I imagined this but I remember Janet Jackson reading over Method Man's line on the teleprompter due to her wearing an oversized hat...Meth does a "mic check" thinking he couldn't be heard before he picks up his lines...i cant remember what award show it was though, anyone else remember this?
Madonna owned that. More than anything, her recovery after that pretty horrifying fall was a testimony to her strength as a performer and also, person.
it was great that you explained what happened instead of letting us just hear it. Good think i dont have a brain and watchmojo can just narrate whats happening.

Which yes, its MJ, but still... you give an award you've never given before, and its for a birthday? Which doesn't make any sense - you can't blame him for getting confused.
And then the jackass had the nerve to parody him for that confusion..
Yeah it was in pretty poor taste to make fun of him about it. It was just a small misunderstanding.

Katy Perry was clearly having a blast slipping around on that icing, she didn't seem embarrassed at all. What a queen.
and in American Idols too her pants.......
I adore Katy Perry but I couldn't stop laughing at her slipping all over the cake.
🤣🤣🤣
the way she was trying to get a grip of her guitarist🤣🤣🤣
Lol😂🤣
Madonna getting ripped down the staurs was hilarious. I'm so sorry but I had to rewind it a laugh several times over.
