I want my partner to be perfect and am always looking for reasons to blame their imperfections. I’m, as you described, always with one foot out the door, which I’m really sad about, because the last couple of months were amazing. Thank you for making me recognise the signals. The next step is to work on them and make my relationship with my perfect imperfect girlfriend last and in the end enjoying it.

Being happy is more important than being with someone perfect! Trust me 😉
I'm glad I help with my video! I'm here if you want more tools going forward 🌻

thank you, perfectionism really robs you of a lot of valuable things. Really dont want to make the same mistakes in my next relationship. Im an unsuccessful perfectionist and i think that sums up a lot of perfectionists.

We are now uncovering the truth about Perfectionism: we thought it was an asset, a strength, a exceptional skill that will distinguish us from the rest, but instead it turns out that it is a self-sabotaging defensive mechanism, a maladaptive trauma response, an overcompensating coping mechanism, a way to achieve external approval while lacking internal self-acceptance.
Happy that you're joining us in turning it from toxic to healthy perfectionism. Yes, there is such a thing.
Have a look at my free guide "How much of a Perfectionist are you" and see all the 20 features of Perfectionism. 😊
Thank you for your support! 🙏

I’ve been in a relationship for the last 11 months and as a whole it’s been good except my self sabotaging perfectionism of always placing high expectations on my girlfriend and having one foot out the door. I know I love this girl but I’ve been at a cross roads with leaving or staying and why I haven’t figured out why conflict keeps arising and somehow I was lead to your video here. This video almost exactly describes all the exact struggles I’ve been having in my relationship. I know I struggle personally from perfectionism but never though it affected me enough on a level to destroy my relationships. But I’m very grateful I came across your video it helped tremendously. I will be studying this topic heavily and practicing your suggestions from here on out. Thank you again 🙏🏼

I'm happy to hear that my video was helpful! I'll keep posting more on that topic. Perfectionism is such a kill of joy and love in our relationships, while at the same moment we are craving them for them and we are left starving. 😢

This was so incredibly helpful, just to hear these things described so I can externalize them and not think they're these inalienable parts of me. The tools felt helpful, and I'm going to be putting them into practice as much as I can. I really appreciate you saying all this and making this video.

@@vassiasar I'm interested, do you have any videos or upcoming videos on what exposure therapy looks like for perfectionism in relationships? I've been trying it with my psychologist, but am finding it difficult because it's all cognitive/internal. As in, it's not as mechanical as not checking the stove in the example of OCD symptoms. Would be very interested to hear your thoughts on it.
