I like that world athletics is making an effort to connect us to the athletes. We definitely need more eyes on the sport. Klaver is a very consistent athlete. Good luck to her
Coming here after her Mixed Relay team won Paris Gold by beating my American team, but I've been following Lieke since the Tokyo games. Congratulations to her! And I love the stadium in the video, beautiful.

Lieke Klaver is the athlete we should all strive to be. She does it for the right reason. Bettering herself. Achieving the most she can from her body. I have much respect for her and hope she does well in the Paris Olympics.

She ran a personal best about 6 hours ago, ran in the 49's in Monaco, got 2nd. She is in peak form for the Olympics. I think it is going to be the Dutch and U.S. in many of the relays. The Dutch 4×400 women are deadly... I am from the U.S. and they worry me. I am a big fan of the Dutch 400m women, they are so deep for such a tiny country.
USA has nothing to worry about, if they execute their game plan correctly.
USA should win - USA has a bigger population and therefore inevitably a bigger athletics pool to pick from and definitely has some amazing athletes - I doubt however a USA team would however beat a part European team in the women’s 400m if you take the best from Poland, Ireland and Holland which is still a much smaller combined country size than USA. A team with Klaver, Adeleke , Kaczmarek and Bol would be a major challenge if it existed.
@tom11zz884 They have beaten us in relays fairly recently. The Dutch women have trained together for years, so they're much more polished as a group in relays. They have comfort and familiarity and repetition as cohorts. We throw bodies out there who don't know one another. It's not a given against these Dutch. Hubris is also a big problem with U.S. athletes on the track. Arrogance and loss of focus happen, so you get inconsistent performances. The track doesn't lie. We don't always win these races, despite our depth. It's one of the compelling things about the sport. I think Bol, having moved to a 14 stride approach, can beat Mclaughlin because Bol races a lot. Mclaughlin doesn't race much, less seasoning. There are no givens in this Olympics. In the 400 & 400 hurdles, men and women, it is going to be stacked. Same with the 1500m & 5k women.
@garethnorth6530 A super team of Euro women would smoke us in the 400m. It would be a world record ass kicking. I wish there was an international event annually where it was the U.S. versus Europe in team events. They could have relays in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, & 1500m. Also 5 Euro versus 5 U.S. in steeple, 5k, and 10k.

I think she will have to accept the true facts of life. She is a 50 second runner.
49.64 is below that and since 23 she already run under 50 a couple of times.....
She has run incredibly well on the relay she needs to bottle whatever that is. When Bol brought the house down in anchor in Budapest, Klaver had an equal split, it got lost because it was on second leg. She ties up in the open but for the most part flys on the 4x4
I only partially agree. She has improved constantly, and while I think she is not likely to win a medal at the Olympics, her chances of making it to the final (meaning that she is among the 8 fastest women right now over the 400m) are not bad. And which one of us can say that we're among the 8 best people in the world in what we're doing?
