It's now August 2023, and these ladies have just enjoyed wonderful success in the World Championships in Hungary. Next year it will be the Olympics. I can't wait to see them there. And I'm not even Dutch! The whole world enjoys their fantastic talent!
p.s. I watched this video without understanding a word, and I was still laughing and enjoying it. Then I realised that there were subtitles available , and so I watched it through again, and enjoyed it even more. God bless these lovely girls!

I am American and I have noticed what I call the European Attitude in these two women. It seems athletes are single minded, under a lot of pressure to succeed while in Europe the athletes adopt a more fun, yet also focused approach to training and competition. When I saw Bol finish third in the Olympics behind McLaughlin and Muhammed I couldn't help but notice the two Americans barely celebrating their efforts while Bol seemed very pleased with her effort.
Bol even mentions this when she talked about the call room where everyone was stressed but her. I will be pulling for her and Klaver at Worlds.
There's way more competition in the States, automatically more pressure. Would think that with this bigger competition, one should be even more proud and happy if you win, but on the other hand, in the States they expect you to win, so people are not really super impressed or something, takes away from the celebration I think
I agree. In the states the focus on winning is so great that it takes the joy out of it.
Just because someone does not openly show excitement doesn’t mean they are not elated. When I was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s to show to much at winning was considered rude and a bad attitude to disrespect your competitors.
I noticed the same thing. Not only the not celebrating part, but after finishing Bol was congratulating everyone with their performances while McLaughlin and Muhammad were just keeping to themselves.

I love this video. Nice, normal, lovely young women who clearly treasure their friendship, and ahe not been spoiled by success. And I am always amazed by how they run. I am a huge Femke Bol fan. In almost every race she gets to about 300 m and you think "she is sort of level" and before you know it she is 5 meters ahead of anyone.
It was visionary and valuable to film this video near the beginning of their careers
I don't know what they're saying but they're both EXTRAORDINARY athletes. The recent, come from behind win by Femke at the 2023 worlds in the relays was insane!

The coincidental friendship of the two has become a strong partnership almost. The 'Bueno' story is funny! I absolutely felt Bol was destined for great things.
Bol just won gold at the european 400m championship. A new national record. Bol is special. She will conquer the world one day!

I would love to know how to deal with lactic acid better?
I hear the word 'lactic acid,' and I'm thinking . . hm . . I think that's something I experienced 3 decades ago, and it wasn't an experience I enjoyed. These runners are running faster than they do in any other sport. It's kinda amazing. I think that's the clip of Klaver winning the European Championships by a LOT. Must be a very rewarding sport to excel at. Also. It's kinda funny how these two athlete friends are perspiring when they speak. When I'm in Europe, I find that a LOT of people perspire when they are just chatting. Happens to me. And it's always so interesting. You chat with someone, then there's this perspiration that forms on the other person's forehead and yours too. AND it's like 40 degrees out. In the US, I'm in Arizona and it's super hot, I talk to someone outside, it's not like that at ALL. These 2 athletes are 2 of my favorite, since I started watching track n field clips.

If you're just comparing AZ and Europe then the difference could be the humidity since the heat in AZ is dry whereas in most of Europe it's humid. Humid heat has been shown to make people feel hotter than dry heat at the same temperature.
Growing up in Oklahoma I used to sweat allot more just being outside in the humid warm months from May to the middle of September when the temps could range from 80 to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit for weeks at a time. Living close to the coast in San Diego, CA it's much less humid even when it gets to be 80 or higher, so I don't sweat like I used to.

I am having a look at this intriguing video, 3 years after it was shot, in March 2024. It is unsurprising that Femke and Lieke have both recently smashed their PBs and an indoor 400m world record. All the essential ingredients are featured here: raw talent, tailored training and a great buddy to challenge and spur the athletes on to greatness. Roll on the Paris Olympics. 🎉🎉🎉
The subtitles were very helpful. Sometimes it doesn't translate well but I guess english and dutch are both germanic languages and so what they're saying translates easily to english.

Femke is 1.84m Lieke is 1.82m
Bol is a 400 meter runner.Klaver is a stronger built and she is very good at 200 meters also.Both are rare breed and very tall, as bol is 6'1" and Klaver is 6'0".Klaver is very close to the perfect genetic female physique. I have never before seen such an amazing built in a woman so tall.

Google lists Bol as 1.84m and Klaver as 1.82m but it is Klaver who looks taller whenever they stand side by side.
