Nicely done. Thank you. Great video. I would have suggested to apply a new bead of lock-tite to the bolt thread. As well as retightening to 80ft lb to compensate for the extension.
@@torrer2013 Easy-peasy -lemon squeezy. Went like clock-work with no surprises, other than a CORRODED bolt below the battery. Must have gotten some battery acid down there, at sometime in the last twenty years. Ate away at the shank of the bolt, making it VERY stubborn to remove. Luckily, the cup washer threads were undamaged. Had to get a NEW bolt from the dealer. They only sold them in FOUR packs.
Thanks for watching and the comment! Definitely quite the job, I’d suggest to check out some of the comments on this video, a lot of useful input! Definitely will improve the ride quality when done! Best of luck hope it goes well!
I'm replacing a few of mine on my 01 Sport Trac in a few days. 3 of my bushings are completely gone and 1 or 2 are close to it, replacing with DayStar poly bushings, I hope I notice the difference!
Thanks, great video. I did the driver side on mine, but the sleeves were destroyed. I had to improvise. Where did you buy the sleeve you replaced and what did it cost. Thanks
So that was probably the hardest part for both the repair and recording but I remember asking my dad for help and we used pliers and he was able to pull it out, sorry I didn’t get it in this video! Thanks for watching and the comment!
Hi I have a question. I changed the body mounts the D were fine so I didn't change them but now when I drive it make a noise like a well is touching some where do you think is because I didn't changed the D part? Thank you
Hello, thanks for watching and the comment! Sorry I’m not sure I understand, it sounds like a well is touching? Do you mean like a rubbing sound or clicking sound
Sorry I’m just seeing this content, so I had a mount where the hardware was too bent to use so I had to wait a day for the replacement part, but I’d say about 2-3hrs without inconveniences, you can save time with power tools and a torch/penetrating fluid if there’s rust
So I did feel a big difference but it may be because the others were worn out. I think the polyurethane ones offer better durability as opposed to rubber that wears out faster. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Did use PB blaster a couple of days leading up to it but I’m in California so not any rust really. Heat I heard also works well. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Awesome video!! I’ve been soaking the bolts with PB blaster and I can get A,B, C on drivers side loosened but am getting stuck loosening D. Did you need to torch the bottom?
Thanks for watching and the comment! So I did not need to torch it but I am in California and had no rust. I did need PB blaster and a breaker bar but I do know that torching the bottom is also an effective way of getting it loose.
I am currently having the same issue. I have the bolt loose but it is spinning on the bottom. It is such a tight area I can’t get any vise grips to hold the bottom washer from spinning. It has 2 flat sides to it but can’t find a tool that fits it. How did you finally get your apart? This is the D bushing.
They sure don’t show how difficult this is in the videos buddy. I got mine off by using some vice grips and locking it down as tight as I could, and getting it in a bind until it broke loose. You want to get as much of a bite on that bottom part as possible(the flat part). Eventually you will get it tight enough and it will bind up as it spins around and it should come off. Keep working at it because it took me many tries to get it. There’s not a whole lot of room in that area to begin with which doesn’t help.
fyi no need to remove battery and air box for bushings A. there are holes in the radiator support that you can go down thru with an extension

By far the best video on doing this thanks man

Excellent explanation and visuals. I plan on doing my Explorer SPORT (2dr Explorer) soon. All of my body mount bushings are toast.
Best of luck!

just wondering how long did the whole thing take you >? to complete ?
Without any unexpected issues I’d say close to 4-6 hours
thanks...... great video, I'm going to be changing mine (2001 sport trac)
Going to ride a lot better once you finish!

How the hell did you get the E-brake cable retainer out. I am pushing the tabs, but can't get it to come out

How much torque did you put on the screws?
What was the overall timeframe to complete this project?
Thanks for a great video…

Man thank you great video. Quick question where did you get the replacement mount for your broken one?
I got mine from AutoZone but at the time it was available at AutoZone and Amazon.

Great video! Do you think the polyurethane type replacements you used would feel much different than the OEM "rubber" looking stock bushings? Thanks
So I did feel a big difference but it may be because the others were worn out. I think the polyurethane ones offer better durability as opposed to rubber that wears out faster.

@@torrer2013 Awesome! Thanks again brother!
Is this why there is a light rattle that sounds like it’s coming from the exhaust when I accelerate?
Possibly, I mainly had squeaking and the cab would sway from side to side badly on bumpy roads
@@torrer2013 oh THAT sound. Nice. Ok I just located them and mine look pretty bad. Thanks for the post.
So where did you get the hardware from?
I ordered it off Amazon!

Bro, I'm glad you did this. I've got the same project coming up. Did you use any PB blaster or heat on any of the bolts?
Did use PB blaster a couple of days leading up to it but I’m in California so not any rust really. Heat I heard also works well.

How did you separate the D bushing clips? Did you just pull it apart? Hope this makes sense.
@@cjrivera04 I threaded the bolt in from the bottom and used and extension and hammer to punch them out and separate them
How’s the ride quality after replacing them?!
A lot better, one of my mounts was really bad so it made a huge difference. Still need better shocks though, maybe a future video.

How can u used a vice grip when theres no room? Especially when the mount is still intact.
You know they make impact guns
