So glad i found a channel about someone who also likes giant gourami. Would love to recreate this breeding project with other species like osphronemus septemfasciatus which i need a female as I have a male one and maybe even trying to breed osphronemus exodon in future. Good luck to your breeding project my guy
Dude! This video is awesomeee, it’s legit exactly what I need for my next lungfish tank haha. Thanks for documenting it so well! It’s crazy how you’ve been able to achieve this dream as well!
Thanks man! Appreciate all your support. A full grown lung fish would look mint in a setup like that for sure! Don't think I'll ever get used to how far I've come.....still doesn't feel like real life hahaha
I am in the US and bought 4 red tailed giant gouramis at about 3 inches and just over three years ago. I love them and they are 12 - 14 inches now in a 500 gallon aquarium with new world cichlids. I am hoping they are done growing so I do not have to thin them out. Do you think mine are nearing their final adult size? So glad I found your channel, my channel is Halfman Halfcichlid.
Thats awesome mate! They usually reach their Max size around 4-5 years Even though they dont get as big as the standard giant gouramis, given the right conditions, you can expect them to get about 18-20 inches.
I have never seen this fish..love them what a beautiful fish. So glad I stumbled upon your channel subbed straight away. 🤞🏻your channel takes off. It's nice to see something different and not the same old fish breeding. Keep up the hard work and hopefully it pays off
Just Subscribed I have been doing a koi carp channel for about 8 months now. Great video really enjoy watching. 1 piece of advice you said you aren't going to explain how you built the tank because loads of people already have. People who enjoy your channel want your advice not someone else's. Vlog everything mate it will massively help your channel
Hey mate! Checked out your channel aswell. It looks awesome. Thanks heaps for the feedback. I'll definitely be documenting the rest of the build. I more so meant the basic structure of it is very simple. But I plan on posting alot more frequently in the future.
The mating footage is incredible! I've never considered keeping giant gouramis, but watching them build a nest and then seeing hundreds of eggs fall all at once is fascinating. They're so cool looking!
Mad this redtail giant gourami over ere in UK go from free to 70 pounds tops I love em me but yer we get em for free cause the size get or really cheap
There’s is the perfect space in my house for an 8x4x4ft tank. Sadly my parents aren’t on board with putting a huge tank in and me keeping a stingray pair, some peacock bass an arowana ect. Mom hates anything big (I had Oscar’s in my last big tank and she hated them when they got big) . Dad doesn’t care he just wouldn’t want the space to be “wasted” on a big tank
This is awesome Mate, Fellow Aussie here. Also have a Young redtail giant gourami and also a Aussie Lungfish. Really wanting to keep an eye on your progress. I know may not equate to much. But if i could help in anyway reach out to me! Just to be a part of a project like this would be brilliant.
The plywood tank is 8ft x 5ft x 4ft. In far North Australia it would be perfectly warm enough for them to be kept outdoors. But in Melbourne,Victoria where I am based, our temperatures are far too inconsistent to keep them outside and especially during winter our temperatures drop well below safe limits for tropical fish.
@@ObsidianExotics Ohio Fish Rescue, on there channel, I seen seen them chasing other fish and other gouramis but I have one adult in a 2x7 tank and a 5" in a 2x6 tank. Even the Silver Dollars get a running from the little guy daily
You are underrated this is awesome!
Definite commitment.. Your Plywood is almost same size as my 1000g maintank in my 1210g system. I sub'd and will following the breeding efforts.
I’m quite excited for you!
Hi, New "subber" here from Glasgow, Can't wait to see the outcome of your "wooden tank"... 😅😎

Very cool - I'm looking forward to seeing how your unconventional build works out!

Baller
I just found one of these in my local pet store. Only $110 nzd
Yeah such a shame they are so expensive in Australia.
THERE WAS 2. pick them up for my new 20,000l pool pond.
Bro, are you Sri Lanka ? i am Sri Lankan too ❤
Yes I am 🇱🇰
Whats the dimensions on the plywood tank?
And also, is the climate to cold in Australia to keep them outdoors at all? Like in a big pond or something?

@@ObsidianExotics Ah I see, wrong end of the country so to speak.
But good luck with the project I will be following it! 👍
Man my Redtails Gourami's hate all tankmates
I had similar issues when I first had them in my 8x3 tank. I found them to be a lot more peaceful once I moved them to my 10x4

Those studs are 1ft spaced? Idk what that is in metric lol
yeah mate they are roughly 300mm apart. Trying to appeal to the global viewers here 😂
are you from sri lanka

Still nothing?
The pair is nesting again so hopefully this time it happens 🤞
@ObsidianExotics can't wait to hear more bro...hope you haven't lost passion for these giant gouramis... 🔥
