    Forgot to also mention this in the fur lengths and textures video, La Perms don’t have a soft coat. There coat is more gruff. I’ve also read this on sites but almost every La Perm I’ve met (including my two La Perms) have a corse texture. Anyways, great series can’t wait for the next, bye.

    Just binge-watched this entire series while trying to find out what I'd have to change with my OCs to make them more realistic and..... as long as I understood everything correctly, I don't need to change ANYTHING! The parents are both black base cats, with the mother having a silver inhibitor (heterozygous) and the father having the golden wideband gene (heterozygous as well), neither having what the other has in that regard. They have two offspring, one with a grey (black diluted) coat (parents are both D/d) and one with a golden wideband coat.
    I'd be happy to post the exact genotype I came up with for them so far if you want!

    Ngl, I had been listening to your playlist in the background and just on this video got to actually pay attention lol (I did watch the first video to make sure I understood what was going on). I understand the basics of genetics already because I actually really like Punit squares! Even though I didn’t have nearly as much context as I probably should’ve, it was really easy to follow along. Thank you!
    Honestly, I’ll probably rewatch the playlist so I can actually pay attention to it.

    Ive really enjoyed this series and look forward to the next species. As companion videos to this series I'd like to see a video on domestic wildcat breeding projects (i believe there are some that hybridize wild and domestic cats and others that try to replicate wildcat appearances in domestic cats) and/or a video on respectfully portraying disability (whether genetic or acquired) in animal characters. Looking forward to whatever comes next!

    • @littlehungrywarrior
      @littlehungrywarrior  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure! I wanted to include it but I couldn't find a lot of reliable info (I'm running into the same contradictions as you are). I want to make an episode on hybrids someday tho so I'll have to bite that bullet eventually...
      bengals are hybrids so the unique look of the "bengal" pattern is inherited from their nondomestic side, but that's about all I know. Sorry!

    Hi so I just finished to watch the entire series while making a doc to remember everything, and idk if I passed by it without paying attention of if you didn’t talked about it but I have questions on eyes colours
    Blue eyes can only be find on some of the albinos spectrum (cs, and c), dominant white, cats with mutations and cat with white patches (but they have to be close to the eyes)
    (Tell me if I’m wrong)
    For the other colours, are they all = ? Or are some of them dominant and recessive ?

    • @magicalfox6945
      @magicalfox6945 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven't done exstensive reserch but I can awnse rthe last question with what I know
      The two 'base' colors are the black and ginger colors found on the x cromosome, females having XX the ginger and black are incompleatly dominant, causing a tortie or calico, black can also be chocolate/caramel, all other coat colors are versions of these like dilution resulting in cream, gray/blue, lilac and fawn, there's alother stuff like silver but I don't remember that fully, I belive that is in part 6, hope this helps!

    • @Colatium
      @Colatium 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@magicalfox6945 I think my phrasing wasn’t clear, I’m not talking about the pelts colours, I’m talking about the eyes colours ^^’
      When I say « the others colours » I talk about the others eyes colours, like green, yellow, amber, ext.. and how they interact with each other

      Correct on blue eyes! as for every eye color.....we don't know :( I wish I had an answer for ya. The only eye color we understand besides blue is that tonkinese/mink cats have green.

    Hello! I had a question regarding something I noticed with my black cat and didn't know if it would fit on that video or the agouti video, so I'm commenting it here
    My black cat has subtle banding in her fur, so she has the agouti gene. But if this is the case, why does she still look like a fully black cat rather than a black tabby? Do her genetics just result in producing a whole lot of melanin despite the agouti gene?

    • @littlehungrywarrior
      @littlehungrywarrior  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes genetically-black cats have faint "ghost" striping. I'm not sure why this happens (altho it can be made more prominent with tarnishing, AKA being in the sun a lot), but it happens in the absence of the A or I alleles with decent frequency. So your cat isn't a tabby - just an interesting solid cat :3
      Edit for a funfact: a lot of solid kittens are born with faint stripes that go away as they grow up!
