She’s unbelievable. She politely, patiently listens to the questions and calmiy answers in a modest, truthful, confident way. And she looks like an angel.
'Angels' are normally the naughtiest ladies on the planet, but insofar as the public character facets that we are allowed to see her professionalism on all fronts is truly outstanding.
Poised with a presence way beyond her years; well spoken, gracious, humble and a joy to behold. unquestionably the "most" compelling athlete on the "world" stage today. She will rewrite the record books. I am in awe...
The question about how to deal with the social media coverage was a good one, as was her response. Today's young athletes face incredible scrutiny from very young ages, especially those who truly stand out like this young woman. Back in the 70s when I was running track and setting records, and went to high school with a young woman who won state high school titles in the mile and half-mile four consecutive years starting her freshman year, we got local media (newspaper) coverage and that was about it. Now, athletes are nationally known and under a near constant microscope. Dealing with that pressure is critical, and I am glad this young woman seems to have it sorted out, stays grounded, and has a support network to help shield her a bit from the frenzy her amazing running creates. Go Katelyn!
Zste'pohznre Brenhoirer She’s not “good”. She’s insanely good, there is a reason why she’s a top tier teenage athlete amongst her age group. OP comment is dumb but there’s no need to rude about it.
Anon Anon "Insanely good" is a sub-category of "good". You're bickering. And telling the OP he's not good if he can't run 1500m in less than 4 : 40 is not rude, it's stating a simple fact. On the other hand, calling the OP's comment dumd is, in fact, rude.
Zste'pohznre Brenhoirer So Olympic-tier athletes are just "good" and everything under a sub 5 minute mile is bad ( or normal ). You do realise achievements and excellence lies on a spectrum and not mere black and white.
Anon Anon Good encapsulates greatness. Katelyn Tuohy is phenomenal, maybe the best in US history. Describing her as good is accurate. I've never said running a mile in more than 5 minutes is bad. I said it's NOT good, especially for a boy in highschool. For someone giving lessons about nuances, your mastery of the subject is shaky at best. I was running around a 4'40" mile in highschool. I was finishing 20 to 30 seconds behind the good guys. I learnt then that I would never be good. No big deal, I settled for decent.
This is what a real athlete should sound like instead of the trash talking rapp singing punk thug jail types we're all used to seeing these days. May God bless this girl and help in everything she does. Wonderful, beautiful effort by this courageous young star.
Denny Law that seems pretty stereotypical to me assuming that every role model for kids is a thug, look at LeBron he just opened up a school for at-risk kids in Cleveland that doesn’t seem like a “punk” to me
I agree with you about a tiny minority of great athletes. What you forget is that for every one of those there are hundreds of thugs that can't seem to even stay out of jail or legal issues in spite of having millions of dollars. Money does nothing to give character and decency or pride in who we are and happy that we've made this world a better place. 81% of the NBA smoke dope on a regular basis is just one of hundreds of examples I wish it were different but no one denies our society goes downward every single day and uneducated people seem to be at the root of it.
Obviously because Katelyn keeps setting records she's currently above the rest. I wouldn't sell Lane short though. She's only been running for 3 years. Her times have dramatically dropped. So they could keep doing that. Missing last track season could even be a blessing. Only time will tell.
congratulations for an amazing acheivment.. i'm definitely a fan (thanks to TH-cam). Just out of interest though looking to the future.. does she have a good sprint finish? (because she's always so far ahead we never get to see it!)
The camera does her well and her poise carries a self awareness I seldom saw in my high school. Great future. I hope she finds a clean air campus like U of Oregon. It's a great place to just f☞cking run. Just saying.

Looking forward to her hopefully qualifying for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials! :-)
I only came across this young athlete a few days ago. What an awesome prospect for the future of women's athletics.

She is such an inspirational speaker and so well spoken
Hats off to Katelyn's parents...they did a good job with her, that's for sure!
A class act young lady and great style and form as a runner . Wish this young lady great success .
I love you katelyn
What a good kid. Just pray she finds a great coach who won’t burn her out. God bless her.
A real champ on and off the track! Good luck in the future young lady!
Katelyn is one in a LIFETIME!!!
What an impressive young lady
That she's faster then me is hard to handle. That she's gorgeous and about 80lbs makes it even more humbling.
Freaking insane her mile is faster than my projected 1500 and we’re in the same grade!
She's good, you're not. I'm not sure what's so insane about that.

Hardcore criminal activity right there 😂
I'd like to see Katelyn, Claudia Lane and Grace Ping go head to head in a 5k.
Pay Per View on "ESPN 8 The Ocho"
Jay Pique grace ping isnt even in the arguement dont be silly shed get cooked. There are alot of other faster athletes that ur sleepin on

I'm afraid Grace's days are mostly behind her. As for Claudia, as good as she may be, she's no match for Katelyn.
Kate Murphy
Pretty girl

If she has a kick finish to add to her cruising speed then the athletics world will be her oyster.
Katelyn tuohy. Future Olympic gold medalist go team USA.
I hope Katelyn considers Colorado when she goes to college.
Reminds me of Jordan Hasay with that long ponytail.
I ran a 4:32.12 in the mile
Humble Champ!
I wish I can be that fasr
