  • My son has been 3D printing now for the past 2-years and recently decided to get a Dual Extruder 3D printer so he can print in 2 different colors for hos key chain business. We tried 2 other printers before we settled on the Tenlog TL-D3 printer. If you are interested in some of the 3D prints that you see in this video you can purchase them on my son Caleb’s ETSY storefront.
    Buy Pool Industry 3D Key Chains:
    www.etsy.com/shop/3DPoolPrint...
    Currently, he has these key chains available:
    Riptide, PoolRX, Bottom Feeder, Primate Pole, Spin Touch, ColorQ, HASA Chlorine, HASA Acid, MX8, CuLator, Multi-Tork.
    You can see all of his prints here:
    www.swimmingpoollearning.com/...
    Note: I purchased this printer on Amazon when they had a coupon with $90 off so it was under $600 which is a real bargain! Unlike others, I was not given a free printer from Tenlog. This is a real review.
    I am learning about 3D printers and my son knows quite a bit about them since he has purchased 3 other printers and now this is his 4th printer. He started by buying the Ender 3 and then used the money from the prints he sold to buy the FlashForge Finder and then from that he purchased the AnyCubic Chiron and then the latest was the Tenlog TL-D3.
    Here is some more about the TL-D3:
    Tenlog TL-D3 Pro 3D Printer, Independent Dual Extruder 3D Printer with 4.3'' Touch Color Screen,Silent Mainboards TMC2208 Drive Support PVA TPU ABS PLA,Direct Feed FDM 3D Printer 11.8''x11.8''x13.8''. To order or to check it out:
    www.amazon.com/dp/B08CSHPFZN/...
    INDEPENDENT DUAL EXTRUDER DESIGN: The TL-D3 Pro dual extruder 3D printer has dual nozzles independent of each other, so you can print in dual material/duplication/mirror mode. With dual-material printing mode, you can get two-color models. Choose duplication or mirror mode, you can get two models of the same color or different colors.
    SUPPORT MULTIPLE FILAMENTS: The Tenlog TL-3 Pro 3D Printer is suitable for various filaments like 1.75mm PLA, TPU, PVA, HIPS ABS, wood, etc. You can choose a filament that suits your needs according to the filament you need to print the perfect model.
    4.3'' TOUCH COLOR SCREEN: Tenlog TL-3 Pro 4.3”’s Touch Screen is easy to operate with its brand new friendly UI. Preview the model and printing process on screen, allowing offline printing. Say goodbye to the traditional manual knob screen.
    EASY TO ASSEMBLE: It comes with several assembled parts. You can assemble the 3D printer in 3 steps, with its user manual, in about 5 minutes.
    WARRANTY AND SERVICE: We provide a 1-year warranty for the 3D printer and a 3-month warranty for the extruder. With lifetime technical support as well. If you have any questions about the product, you can send an email to amazon@tenlog3d.com and we will reply within 24 hours!
    Dual Material Printing
    You can use two colored filaments to print on the model to obtain two-color models or use two different filaments to print soluble supports (such as PVA) to accurately achieve difficult-to-place models.
    Duplication Mode Printing
    You can print two identical models of filaments (or the same or different filaments) of the same color or different colors on the Tenlog 3D printer at the same time, thereby doubling the printing efficiency and saving you time!
    Mirror Mode Printing
    You can print two symmetrical models of filaments (or the same or different filaments) of the same color or different colors on the Tenlog 3D printer at the same time, the two nozzles are dual-driven at all times for printing, and the two models are immediately aligned with the mirror.
    Resume Printing Function
    In the event of an unexpected power outage or surge, the control board will remember the last recorded position of the extruder. After the power is restored, The 3D printer will resume printing from the last recorded position.
    Filament Runout Detection
    When the filament runout detection detects that the filament such as PLA or ABS are used up or broken, the 3D printer will save the information and suspend printing, waiting for the 3D printer to feed the filament again to continue printing.
    Unique near-end and direct-drive design
    Tenlog 3D Printer uses a direct drive extruder and a powerful near-end silent motor design so that it can print various filaments, such as TPU, PVA, PLA, ABS, HIPS, WOOD, PETG, flexible.

    Great video, But how do you slice for the mirror prints? do you have to tweak your printer setting in Cura or Simplify3d? Neither seems to work for me. do you have any suggestions?

      Good question. They have great Skype Tech support if you go to the Tenlog website. They are in China so depending on your time zone you can get a live person to converse with via skype text. Here in California I get a live person at 9 pm at night. To be honest all we use is duplicate mode.

    I just picked the same printer, but cannot get the speed up. I am using Cura and factory included files. From the video, the machine appears to be traveling faster. Would care to provide your settings? tks. Great video, by the way.

    How did you adjust the belt tension for the x-axis belts? I can't find any adjustment on mine, and the belts are a little loose as was with yours.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn't find anywhere to tighten them as well so I strategically placed a ziptie on each belt where it slides into the extruder. If you place it just right and tighten it you can pull the belt tighter. Then trim the zipties. A good machine but missing some bells and whistles.

    Would you forsee any difficulties using PVA filament for supports with this printer?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I watched a video with the Hictop using the PVA and it seemed fine. I think these are the same manufacturer. I could be wrong. I was going to try that next. But it has no problem with TPU so you should be fine.

    Quick question on the Duplicate mode. When slicing do you just place the model int he center of the slicer or do you need to move it off to the side? I ask because I just tried the Dulpicate mode and with the model in the center of the slicer when I sliced it my second extruder started slicing half off the bed. I have to move the print over to the left a bit when I slice it. Is that the same for you? Just curious.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My only complaint with this machine is that the software is just downright dumb. I first noticed this when leveling the bed - if I didn't recenter it The nozzle would come down off the bed. So with the duplicate mode you need to place it to the for right and it will duplicate on the far left. Tenlog hopefully will work on the software - but it does strange things like that. I haven't been able to figure out the power resume mode either. Other than the software the printer is great.

    • @VectorRoll
      @VectorRoll 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SPL Yeah the software on the actual printer is not the best.
      For slicing I I have been using Prusa Slicer. I did not even bother with whatever they offered with it. I think it came with Cura. I've always had bad luck with Cura.
      I personally would love to just upload my own version of Marlin for it. If to just remove that constant beeping when when it hit the endstops. Wish they would have offered a setting to turn that off. Like a silent mode. It gets real annoying when printing multi color prints.
      It does make some beautiful prints though. Only hard thing I ran into with mine was the the leveling. I had to take apart the entire X axis and rebuild it to make it level and snug. I also adjusted the z axis and it's endstops. Once I did that it was smooth sailing.

    how does the accuracy compare to other printers. all reviews on this product seem to skip over that not showing detail differences or even printing a benchy.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flashforge, Ender 3, and Ender 3 V2 look cleaner compared to these prints. Not a huge difference but the Tenlog is not as precise as these lower-priced printers listed. We have all 3 of these so we can easily compare. It is better than the Anycubic printers.

      Extruder 2 takes some tuning. That is the one that you will need to move up or down to match the bed leveled with extruder 1. We did some finer tuning on it. We also ran the nozzle offset G-code included with the printer. Nozzle 2 was off fractionally. So now the prints are more or less as perfect as a 3D printer can get.

    I think the duplicator mode is not at all a good reason to purchase this thing. It is a nice feature if you are purchasing it regardless, but you dont purchase this printer for that feature alone. If that is the main reason for purchasing this printer, then you purchase 3 or so Ender 3s and get just as quick print time with less of a chance of failure.
    With that said, I am NOT at all bashing this printer or most of what you said in the video. I just disagree with that specific statement. You purchase this printer if you want to print multiple colors at once, that is where it shines. If you happen to use the duplication feature then great, just dont make that a primary reason for getting this machine.

      First, select the Tenlog printer on your preferences, then import two or more models. On the left side of the screen there should be the normal buttons of move, rotate, etc. Below those, are two little "comment boxes", each with either "1" or "2" on them. select an object, and then go to those boxes and select if you want to print that object with extruder 1 or 2.

    • @SPL

      Just Cura 4.2 right now. Works really good with Cura. But if you need anything their tech support is really good via Skype in China. Usually can get someone live in China at 8 pm PST if you have any questions. So far I have contacted AnyCubic and Tenlog tech support and both are A+.

      @@SPL Amazon has two versions black 1 and black two I can’t seem to tell the difference would you happen to know the difference?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@balancenoptions1322 The black glass bed is a new upgrade. It looks like a similar glass bed to the one on my AnyCubic Chiron. So it is the same 3D printer as in this video but with an upgraded bed. You will not need tape or glue on the new bed. The only difference between the models is that one has a silent motherboard like the one in the video and the other does not. Looking today the one with the silent motherboard is cheaper. And any price under $600 is good. I paid $597 for mine. Hope that helps.

      @@balancenoptions1322 Great! It is a pretty awesome machine. It is now our go-to printer out of the 4 we use. The only thing I suggest is to watch their video on "How to Set the Nozzle Offset" on the Tenlog 3D TH-cam Channel. Then your dual color prints will come out perfectly aligned. So far I would say we have printed over 300 dual-color key chains with both PLA and TPU and no issues. Had to use a tower for some of the prints.
