I think most people would think this is a very simple thing to do. Find the dipstick, read the dip stick. However; these engines have a dip stick that leaves residue on the end of it so badly that you second guess yourself on whether it is hot, cold, none showing, or over full. It is quite frustrating. It's unfortunate that this video didn't at least show the dip stick with an acceptable level of fluid on it. In Neutral at idle. So, that people would know what to look for.
Dan is absolutely correct. The residue left on the dipstick makes it incredibly difficult to read. I ended up getting a system to vacuum the fluid out. Basically you stick a tube down the dipstick port that you mark to the exact depth of the dipstick and suck out the fluid until it gets to that level. Even then the dipstick doesn’t read that I have the correct level. Also make sure you are parked on a level surface. Like others have mentioned you are supposed to check the level in neutral, not park according to my manual.
It's best to run it hot don't bother checking the cold level. Then when you're refilling it and depending on where it is on the dipstick, put a half a pint to a pint in at a time and check often. You definitely don't want to overfill it. If you do you're going to either have to drop the pan, or extract it with a vacuum tool.
For this dipstick on this engine for this year - it appears that the dip-stick should be: 1. Pulled, 2. Wipe, 3.fully re-inserted, 4. pulled and read; There is another type of dipstick for some of the NAG1 transmissions with somewhat different instructions.
Video does not apply to the years listed. 2018 JK Wrangler has a different dipstick for the Mercedes built trans. You look for the fluid to fill the holes on the stick.
Looks like no one ever answered you Joe. Actually at that point some of the fluid should be drained from the transmission. Too much transmission fluid is never a good thing.
2013 jk Engine died at stop sign. Started engine placed in drive acted as if in neutral. About 60 seconds later drive started working. Checked trans fluid, a little low but still visible above cold mark. ..."?"...

My 16 JKU factor manual mentions nothing of this dipstick, thank you for posting.

Where do I put in the fluid
It tells you on the dipstick of an original Mopar dipstick that it takes ATF plus 4. It's stamped on it

you probably have the drain behind the exhaust and the fill on the passenger side of the transmission. its easier, your lucky
