- The 2007 Canadian Grand Prix, where Takuma Sato (Super Aguri) had the drive of his life when he passed both Ralf Schumacher (Toyota) and Fernando Alonso (McLaren) in the closing stages of the race to finish 6th and give his team 3 much needed points.
2007 was Sato's best year in F1 I think in a underdeveloped car. Now he is a 2x Indy 500 winner... one of the greats.
Super Aguri was unable to develop the car thanks to SS united. The fail main sponsor

Amazing. He overtook the reigning world champion (at the time) in what was pretty much the Manor/Caterham of 2007.
It was more ore less the 2006 Honda car with some modifications. Which led into the fact that Super Aguri gained more championship points than Honda did with their new car this year :D
@@Darude453 Honda scored more points at the end of the season. Super Aguri wasn't that bad in 2007, it was one of the slowest midfield cars, like the Honda. Maybe faster than the STR.
look at the tyres - everyone was nursing their worn-out option tyres home. Takuma Sato hat used the time behind the safety car to switch from primes to options for one lap and back(!). he was dead last when the race was re-startet, but with better tyres, he could cut through the field.
To the new fans, that’s basically the HAAS of 2007

I love how cars could actually follow each other. No DRS, nothing. Natural overtakes , and well deserved
But unfortunately only very few. Especially this late 00er cars. Imola 2006 saw exactly one (!) overtake on the track in the whole race (after the first lap).
Oh yeah, "natural" with BS tyre and refueling rules. Racing sucked during this era.
No wonder that the design team behind this car, went on to develop the monster that was the BGP001. Sato was massive in this machine
This was probably Taku's best drive in F1. Since he's come to IndyCar I've become a massive fan of his

My favourite Japanese driver personally. Insane qualifying pace, but couldn't always translate that over the race. Now he's proven successful in Indycar.

to be fair Alonso had some tyre Trouble, but on the other Hand his car was way more competitive, so good driving from Sato was needed to make the pass.

@@Alusttt93 Well, he lost the championship by 1 point. If he wasn't overtaken here, he would've been equal in points with Kimi at the end of the season. But even if that were the case, assuming nothing else changed, he would've still lost the championship anyway, as Kimi had more wins (6) than him (4) that season.

@@pauloaz496 Muy rápido en Qualy, muy poco consistente en carrera, pero no lo suficiente para ganar una carrera en un Williams, en ese gp el equipo estuvo superlativo, también parte de la magia de la temporada 2012, aún sigue siendo la última victoria de Williams.
Wow dry conditions, while in a super aguri lmao and he finished 6th no wonder he got moved up to indycar. Today that would be like haas finishing in 7th. Just more proof Indycar is where the talent goes and F1 is where the drivers with funding go...
When I talk with my pals and F1 comes to the conversation, I always say that Taku was and is a good driver. I strongly believe that he was unlucky, most of the time he would be in teams with unreliable cars. Only BAR was good, and not all the time.
Mid-bottom team car (Super Aguri) can compete and pass front row team (McLaren).
I can't imagine Haas passing Ferrari/Mercedes without any asist (DRS). Nowadays if noone retired or crashed, we have boring races with no takeover except DRS passings on straight.
And we also have staged passing, like Hamiton on Ocon in Monaco 2018. I doubt Haas will ever be allowed to overtake Ferrari, or STR to overtake RBR, or FI to overtake Mercedes.
