There is no doubt the new cars are faster, the combined Hybrid Power in the top teams is likely 1000+. However it's boring and it's priced everyone out. When Williams can't compete because they can't buy an engine you have a problem. It was said that only Senna could afford that corner full gas (telemetry data they reported). It seems that Hakkinen do the same. The small lift we hear is maybe due to the climb. Engine lowers a little RPM even if you keep down the foot. Of course this is my impression, I could be wrong.

It’s at 2:01 that Mika does something extraordinary by keeping full gas at “eau rouge”. Unbelievably brave.

I saw an interview both explaining that this could happen only due to right weight of fuel and relatively fresh tyres to take l´eau rouge without hesitation. Maybe twice per race.
Even if you are Team Schumacher full on.
This was the only way to beat him.

That early 2000's Mercedes V10 sound was something else, beautiful, and so different compared to all the other engines during that period.

Big Boss There were several onboard footages before them, so nothing special.
This is how the USA conquers the world: with foolish people through the media.

This is one of few F1 races I actually remember watching as a kid, watching Mika chasing Michael and just do that slit second move and totally surprise Michael. Love this clip and all others of this race
