    I love my SC trainer v1. Can't believe they've removed the stack, the sock-fit and the stretchy upper - exactly what made it special and unique.

    I love the v2. Soft and fun. Responsive. More comfortable than the Speed3, but a shade slower. I would def buy again.

    I wish they could add the opinion of someone who is more of a hybrid athlete. Between the NB SC Trainer v2, Superblast, Mach x, Saucony speed3. I much prefer the NB shoes as they are more propulsive and squishy for a heavier and slower runner.

      Problem is the heavy slow runner doesn't do enough milage for shoe testing

    I really appreciate the commentary on which conditions you run in (I am so scared of slipping as it's been so wet recently in London and I anyway have wobbly knees, so the comment on outsole for instance is very helpful), your typical speed (hi super Nick haha) and distance, and what you were looking for. I am happy with my v1 as a very slow runner who tends to have tired feet quickly, and my longest run would be a 15k anyway. The good thing is that whenever a new version comes out, you can buy the previous one on sale...

    I possess the V1. I like it very much. After this review, I will not jump into the V2. I possess also Nimbus 25. Next daily trainers will be Triumph 21 or 22 if it’s already out and the Superblast I think.

    I think New balance should advertise the sc trainer as a max cushion shoe for recovery then a speed shoes, the rebel makes since as a speed shoe companion next to the sc elite v3. I have a pair for my daily commute shoe. It's the most comfortable shoe I've ever tried on. I've tried on many max cushion shoes.

      Excuse for my comment sir but I think they already have a max cushioned shoe and thats is the more v4 so what’s the purpose of having 2 max cushioned shoe and since super trainer is a trend now so they can earn more money from it! Please correct me if I’m wrong🫡

    Since the SC Elite v3 is now on sale and therefore less costly than the SC Trainer v2 - I wonder what the difference is? They both have a 40mm heel stack height, same foam, both have a carbon plate. SC Elite is lighter.

    • @theghostofpcs2391
      @theghostofpcs2391 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly why I went for the SC Elite v3. The SC Trainer v2 is 230 euro, while I got the Elite for 146. Now I did recently buy the SC Trainer v1, which is still pretty expensive, but I would like to try the v2 at some point. New Balance shoes are very comfortable, so for some the SC Elite v3 could be the 'one shoe' that does everything.

    I love the v1 and got them on sale and I would love to try the v2 but not at that price. Sounds like I’d prefer the v1 anyway

    I actually just ordered these and a pair of the V1's earlier today. Should have them both this weekend. I love how the V1's felt in the store, but wanted a different color they didn't have. I also wanted a second option to switch it up and have heard these feel even more stunning. I also grabbed a couple pair of rebels on sale for when I want a more lower/flatter feel and was surprised after feeling the V1's that the rebels still felt good even though they have less cushion, so to me it's worth the investment as a 260 lb 6'2 male nurse who's on his feet for 13 hours a day. I've also started easing back into jogging a couple of weeks ago, so I'm looking forward to see how they apply in both of the two different types of application.

    What I'd like to see from NB for a daily "super" trainer that's somewhere in between the Rebel v3 and SC Trainer (v1 and v2) and NB actually has that but it's a trail shoe - the new SC Trail. If the SC Trail had the outsole of the SC Trainer v2, I think it'd be a great daily trainer that can kind of do it all - including the speed sessions. Even with the Vibram Litebase outsole for the trails, I found the SC Trail great for running on pavement.
    It seems NB missed the mark with the SC Trainer v2 in that while trying to be both a daily trainer and an easy run shoe, it doesn't do either as good as other shoes in those categories. For this "super trainer" category with some sort of plate, I think the Boston 12, Deviate Nitro 2, and the ole Speed 3 are the cream of the crop.

      Stick a nylon plate into the rebel and boom a potential top drawer training speed shoe

      @@madixon1981 Agreed! Love the Rebel v3 but a little more stack height with a nylon plate would make it a killer speedy daily trainer.

    I think the key problem lies with the midsole fuelcell because although it's light and bouncy on feet however the energy return over longer miles tends to diminish vs other brands' midsole technology, another concern I have for NB is durability issue as my Rebel V2 just fall apart between the midsole and upper knit for just merely 500KM+ mileage done.

  • @parrotbrand2782
    @parrotbrand2782 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Whether it is worth your money depends greatly on how much money you have. If you have a lot of money, everything is cheap, everything is worth buying. Even if you are buying this to do gardening or stroll in the park.

  • @waltersinnett9095
    @waltersinnett9095 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is that UK vs US price difference correct? It seems insane and would completely change how you view the shoe.
    At £210 you're not just talking a "super" trainer, you're talking about one of the most expensive ones and at that premium price point you'd expect it to either do everything extremely well and be the perfect one shoe rotation or do something exceptionally and the rest well enough.
    But at $170 (roughly £135) you're in the mainstream, conventional daily trainer shoe category (the Ghost 15 is RRP £135 for example) and at that price point suddenly getting a carbon plated trainer that can handle most things comfortably suddenly seems like a much more tempting option and even if it's far from the best of the plated trainers actually a bit of a bargain.

  • @white_deer1
    @white_deer1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Way too expensive! In Australia, they sell for $320 AUD. A few weeks ago you could have picked up an old NB TC Elite for $115 at Running Warehouse Australia or the NB RC Elite v2 for $200 at Sportitude. I'd rather buy those 2 shoes than one of these or better still a discounted Speed 3 or Triumph 20.

    If only New Balance would just re-release the RC Elite v2 COMPLETELY UNCHANGED and just slap the SC Trainer moniker on and everyone would bow down to it as the king of the Super Trainers.

      You gotta remember, there’s a huge portion of people that have zero intentions of ever racing, but just run for exercise that want the best “Trainer” for walking/running and light trails. The vast majority of people just have one pair of shoes for all types of running not everyone is buying a different type of shoe for different types of running so most people just want the best all-around they can get and shoes like this are good candidates for a 1 running shoe shopper

    Someone at New Balance should lose their job for this shoe. V1 was by all accounts a really good shoe. Quirky and not for everyone, but it has a tonne of fans. However, someone thought they were so clever they'd completely abandon what people loved about the shoe and replace it with marketing B.S. Ridiculous decision making.

    I hated SC Trainer V1, I sold it after 45 miles. Heavy, clunky, just awful. No good for speed work, not as nice for easy/recovery runs as the Nike Invincible. This also seems like a pretty damning review, too.

  • @Crismans843

    I don’t think the new super trainers are designed for younger competitive runners. You should use old super shoes or less supportive trainers. These shoes are for older, less fit and larger (heavier) runners. I suspect many runners will appreciate this category when they’re older and their legs are a little beat up.
