Also it is honestly so refreshing to see a shape that is not a “cat/fox eye”. Finally 🙌
This is one of the reasons I love Alex. Her style doesnt try to be the cat/fox eye that has been a trend for a while now, and shes open to other styles.
While cat/fox makeup is pretty, it doesnt suit everybody and, honestly, Im a bit tired of it. I feel like 90% of the makeup I see on instagram is a cat/fox eye with those damn tapes lol
I love how original Alex's style is, it is so refreshing to watch.
she also has a Twiggy tutorial :)
Very. And downturned eyes have a soulful look that is very attractive.
@@camillasoares9289 Yeah and apart from that huge number of people speak up against this trend (edit: fox-eye!) as it is racist! People seen as asian have to deal with racism, discrimination and insult for their eyes, get harrassed by people mocking them putting their fingers up their eyes imitating the look. But sure white people can just take this look as a trend, tape their temples (ugh*) and in the evening can get rid of it, so disrespectful, not to start talking about the trauma this causes beign ridiculed on one hand for some one the daily (in schools for instance) but then anyway taken advantage of in the effin makeup industry, just horrible.
Exactly! So sick of the fox eye look, everyone looks the same now
You should also do looks from every decade. I’ve seen other influencers do that and it’s cool
she is not just an influencer, but a graduted visual artist :)
@@Verbsdescribeus ok and?
I absolutely love this. I was a preteen/teen in the 60s. Tall skinny and did not fit the mold. Then Came twiggy. All of a sudden, I was cool. One thing we used to do is get a eyeliner brush and a razor blade and shave the eyeliner brush down till they were probably three hairs left, and paint eyelashes on our lower lid. Thank you for this!
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your comment! I'm always interested in seeing how people did they're makeup from different times, as well as in different parts of the world.
As someone who has really round eyes with big ole eye lids, sixties makeup honestly compliments me the best. Love the look!
100% would look very flattering on someone with big eyelids.
Reminds me of Laura Cleary.
So refreshing to see this look, I'm a child of the sixties and grew up seeing my older neighbours and cousins doing their makeup like Twiggy. Love the cats 🐈 😻 making themselves know, I've two cat's and that crazy hour when they're skidding around, knocking things over and one of them runs up the door frame and wallpaper (which is ripped to bit's) but it's my bedroom wall so I'm not bothered, it's pure entertainment 😉. Yes would love to see another 60s glamorous look. X
I loved the amount of fun your cats seemed to be having.
😂 They were truly enjoying themselves
I love your interaction with your cats 🐈...keeping it real 💯
I was a kid in the sixties. I turned 12 in '69. I was doing this makeup technique in the seventies when I started wearing makeup. By then it was the no lipstick no foundation look with browns and taupes on the eyes. We had relegated the black winged liner to the last decade but we did start lining inside the lower lash line. This was in NY. long Island.
The 60s was a #vibe. I remember it well, although I was a little girl. I would love to see a more glam version with false lashes, etc..
Edie Sedgwick!!! She's my ultimate beauty inspiration... The coolest cool-girl there ever was
Love this. I don't understand the imperative of "lifting" your eye out and up. Down lines of the sockets are just as beautiful as upturned eyes. It's just your shape! Same for older eyes. If they sag a little, so be it. I shall try this look!
Agree! I have very round sockets and hooded eyes and love making them look even rounder (cartoonishly so sometimes 😂) and trying to lift the outer corner looks bananas - everyone should do whatever they like the look of on themselves! I for one will be a sparkly clown right into the grave….
This technique will also work with colours - you can go as strong or as neutral as you want and still get a cool look 😊
I’m well over 2022 already myself. Started out pretty shitty. Love the 60s vibe. Girl my cats are the same. They knock everything off. Definitely get into everything but I love them dearly
Yessss, I'd love from you a series' of makeup from every era, maybe 70's, 80's, 50's, 40's, so on ... Would be fun to watch you stroke your brushes on your canvas.
I love this look, and i've actually been doing a very similar thing a lot lately. I've often wondered if it's cool, or if it just looks like my eyeliner has transferred to my eyelid. Thank you for legitimizing my current favorite vibe.
I was just wondering how i'm going to do this and have it look intentional still
I’ve been accidentally doing this for a few weeks and totally loving it. So when I saw the video I clicked so fast!!! Totally validated my “view” lol 😂
I will now improve my look with Alex’s help! ♥️
Gorgeous! I've been wanting to try some 60's inspired eye makeup, but I suck at eyeliner. I think I can do this!
This look should be back and I genuinely think it will. Biba Leichner Mary Quant. More 60's look and please a Bridgitte Bardot look
Agree.
I love it, too, and DEFINITELY BARDOT!! However, because my eyes are on the smaller, hooded side, AND they're naturally downturned, I feel like it would make MORE strangers approach me and ask me why I'm so sad, when I'm just reading a book on a bench.
My mouth naturally pouts, too, and not in a cute way. In a "I have to do what feels like a smile in order for my mouth to be in a straight line" kinda way. I have to do this for ID photos, otherwise I look like my entire family was just murdered, or, I was the one who did the murderings. Not gonna be hot when I'm older. Sigh. But yes: more 60s stuff!!! Maybe a full-on flower child: paint flowers on your temples and cheeks in colour combinations like lime green and lilac; orange and magenta.
Biba, so iconic.
honestly i would love to see u recreate Edies full make up look! Everyone is always doing a modern version of it but Id like to see the "real" 60s look
Awsome! Please try out more 'old skool'/alternative make-up styles that are not hyped at the moment. The 60's are amazing but other styles are welcome, too! I'm all for it! ❤️💕
Agree! Everyone is doing the same thing! Loved the 60s. Do the glam one!
60s eye makeup always makes me very, very Happy 😍🥰❤️.
Oh my goodness, please give us more 60's inspired looks! It looks so incredible on you with your hair firstly, and secondly, I feel like it's a look that is suitable for so many eye shapes because you can put the shadow above your eye fold for more hooded eyes but it also works for people with a ton of lid space!
The only exceptions is people with low brows. If the persond dont have enough eyelid space they will have a hard time to try to drawn line there.
I stopped watching makeup videos But after finding your channel I feel like that’s all I watch now😅. I felt like all the other beauty guru’s just apply product and go. You explain why you are doing things and ACTUALLY help teach techniques 🙌🏻
My favorite makeup/fashion is from the 50’s and 60’s 😍
This look is so soft, feminine and glamorous! 😍
Love love love. I think more rounded, down turned makeup will be the new trend in place of the upturned “fox eye”.
Alex, you should look up the makeup of Mina Mazzini if you love 60s makeup. She was a really famous 60s vocalist / diva in Italy. She took the sleepy eye to another level, almost a little bit scary looking, but it worked for her.
60’s has always been my favourite eye! Love it 😍
60's makeup, hair, clothes, yessss!!! Love the late 60's, early 70's for the aesthetic, music, movements..thank you!
Please do makeup through the decades, but wearable for modern day!! This was super cool!
Completely in love with "dramatic and fabulous" !
An Elizabeth Taylor Cleopatra look is a must…also Moira Shearer in The Red Shoes, Gene Tierney in Leave Her to Heaven, a heavily mascara’d Jean Harlow, a sooty Theda Bara look…
I love how you almost said "eye sack". The 12 year old boy who, for some reason, lives inside my brain had a full on, falling-off-the-couch laughing fit. He made me type this ridiculously stupid comment. Maybe we all need to honour our inner boy-children from time to time?
AHAHAHA ABSOLUTELY
Hahahaha definitely!
well i just got to be the 69th upvote, so…considered mine honored for the day ;)
I'm so glad I'm not the only person that laughs at shit like that 🤣
Same. Especially since I literally have eye sacks bcz my eyes are so effing hooded😡
you did it!! out of ur self-described creative funk! BRAVO!!! LOVE IT ✨❤️🔥
yesss, more 60s! love seeing looks that are different from the current trends
Haven't even seen this yet, and I'm HERE for it!!!!!!!!! Back to regularly scheduled programming!!!! 😉✌💚🙏
I have very hooded eyes, and I love doing this makeup, makes my eyes appear so big and opened! I also like to add some green or red glittery shadow under my lower lashes to make it more interesting
Hi! May I ask where you draw the top line, in relation to your hood? I adore this look on Alex, but I have hooded eyes too and just can’t figure out where that top line could go… Thanks!!
@@rosey_ie Hi! I just keep the mirror strait in front, not lower, and I draw the line with my eyes opened normally, looking strait in front, not down. This way it is above the fold and even on both eyes
@@ludwiiik So you go ABOVE the fold? Amazing! Thanks so much 🤩
@@rosey_ie I hope it will help you somehow 😊
This sooo amazing! You are sooooo amazing! I'm a soon to be 43 year old and honestly, seeing and hearing from your artistry with make up, brush technique, wealth of experimental knowledge and so much more has revitalized my make up world.
Thank you for being you, one of the reasons why I subscribed to your channel was your authenticity, it really shines through!
I loved this 60's look, I'm definitely going to try it. But, first I'll need to invest in those smaller brush pencils. Thanks again friend, all the way from New Zealand.
Fab. I'm going to do it, except for the downward whatever. Makeup was an Art in the 60s.
Yes!!!! Glam it up please!! You are the best with eyes 💕
i would love to see you break down, analyze, and replicate different styles of makeup, whether through the years or just different looks overall. you have a really amazing way of explaining and demonstrating things, and i think it’d be a fun project.
A stunner! This is the shake up I needed! Would love to see more 60s looks, and the glam version too!
This came up on my notifications just after I started binge watching The Queens Gambit on Netflix. I have been obsessing with the 60's classy vibe ever since. Perfect timing and such a great look!
60s kid here...my aunt did this look, wore flower print paper dresses, white gogo boots and had frosted tip n streaked hair. God she was glamorous! I miss her. LOVE this look. Thank you!
This vibe is everything ugh! Love those earrings too!
Id loooove to see you recreate looks from each decade 🔥🔥
i wasn’t sure about the look at the beginning of the video but at the end it looked absolutely STUNNING on you
Please do a more dramatic version! I looove that makeup era and the mid/late 60s Factory Velvet Underground scene is one of my favorites
Love this! Please do a glam version too. Thinking of doing a glam version for NYE with more glittery makeup on lid and more smoked out crease.
60's makeup compliments your eyes so nicely
i love that you don't use a face smoothing filter in your videos, i've always felt like because my makeup doesn't look flawless and smooth that i'm doing something wrong but it is literally just because that's how skin is. this is realistic beauty, up close and HD
Agree with your comment, board with the current makeup looks these days. I love that you are revisiting different styles from other eras. I hope you do more of this.
Gorgeous. I adore your take on retro makeup. I'd LOVE to see you do Brigitte Bardot 😍
so beautiful omfg i love this!! also could you please do a 70s cher makeup look? her makeup and aesthetic in the 70s was otherworldly!!
Thanks Alex! The lower lash line technique blows my mind. I don’t think I could pull the upper lid off. My eyes are a bit sleepy looking and hooded. I’m going to give it a try some night though, before I go wash my face. Thank you again, and yes keep exploring what livens up the year for you! It I contagious! 😘🤗
Yeeesss please do a super glam version of this!
Your hair with this look is *chef kiss* so good. I would really love a short video on your favorite cream/gel/liquid blushes.
Anele! Please, when just you have enough time, do a whole series on the 60-es, maybe deep wise enquiry on this aesthetics... That would be a thrill, to watch a consistent history of makes and accessories in just one volume of the channel.
I'm the most excited for this video!!! More videos for those of us with lots of real estate. I feel overwhelmed with all of my lid space, and I do not always want to do a cat eye
You guys are so lucky! I wish I had more real estate! Don't get me wrong I've come to recognize the beauty in my eye and eyebrow shape and people but goddamn! Just to be able to rock an Edie Sedgwick eye for just ONCE in my life would make me a happy girl!
I have been feeling so blah about makeup lately and this inspired me! Love your content as always.
you are the most amazing and creative make up artist on TH-cam! love you
I enjoy that you’ve been only doing mascara/no lashes lately. I have such a difficult time putting on lashes and I think mascara gives just as much as a glam effect
Would love to see Cher 60s/70s makeup looks 💗
Fabulous! Yes more glam look of sixties!!!
60s makeup 💄 is fkn awesome. This is why I love your videos. TH-cam malfunction we were disconnected. Glad I found you again ❣️
Yes! Edie Sedgwick looks for ever!
I will love a Jeffree Star cosmetics full face, I know you liked the concealer but a review about everything would be amazing
I'm obsessed with this eye look and those earrings
LOVE 60s make up. So refreshing to see. Finally something different. Please do more stuff like this!!
I legit learn something from you EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Ooooh recreate some of the looks from queen's gambit!?
Such a good show and some iconic makeup and fashion! 💕
Also, totally love seeing you do this look~ maybe do more takes on some 60s 70s and 80s makeup?
Glam and unglam versions
Punk and like... Prom queen??
You have literally changed my life. And genuinely have taught me how to embrace my own features. You’re a goddamn Queen. 🖤
Wow, thank you so much for this!! I'd pretty much given up on finding a style of eye makeup that suited me, and I can't believe that this is the one that does the trick! SO fun, so wearable-yet-dramatic--I love it.
The first thing that popped when in my head when I saw your makeup was Madonna!!
Your presence is so calming 😩 I turn on your videos and immediately feel like I’m just sitting with a friend
So yes on this look Alex! So for the 60s aesthetic and being dramatic, fabulous and different. Now that I've got my Klute shag, I need the 60s/70s eyes to match. More please!🌺❤🙏
I love 60s makeup! Please do another look!
you had me at ”Edie Sedgwick earrings” 💖
Ahhh!!! I was so hoping that you filmed this look🤗 yay!!!
Another channel I can watch in the living room while my light sleeper husband is still in bed 🖤 also one of the best to sleep to while he’s out of town. Gorgeous and lovely in every way as well
I love it. It makes your eyelids look bigger.
I absolutely love your tutorials, by far my favourite makeup youtuber! I know you do a lot of glam looks.. but I think it’d be so cool to see you do a makeup tutorial or two inspired by Pat McGrath’s work from the 2011 Girl with the dragon tattoo movie.. it’s avant garde and definitely memorable. I think you’d have a lot of fun with it!
Getting really personal but I've always hated my slightly hooded eyes that make them seem downturned and was seriously thinking about getting a brow lift but damn I'm glad you uploaded this, thank you!!!!
i’m obsessed with the 60s this is so fun!!
One of my favorite looks by you. So timeless. So funky and fun!!!!
Please, please do mooooore 60's, 70's, 80's then go back and do 1920's and 1930's or maybe the 40's would be better. Either way do it! Love it girl
Yesssssssss! Love this! Definitely need more 60s looks.
Also please please please do an 80s goth look! Pulllllllllease! 🖤❤️🖤
I love anything 90s, 80's, 70's, 60's, ect...anything besides the 2000's...
Yes on the glam 60’s look!
I haven't commented before, but I've been a subscriber for a bit (thank you for pulling me through the 2021 hellscape), but I just had to pipe up and say that I would loooooooooooove to see more 60s looks (or more decades, too, as other commenters have mentioned), but especially the glam-smoky Edie look you talked about at the end of this video. Again, thank you for this channel and your work!
You look beautiful in 60s eye makeup 😍
When you said you were having a creative block and looking for suggestions I wanted to suggest more 60s makeup. Especially the converse wing I love so much!
Try Loreal Bambi mascara, it is amazing. I curls, makes my eyelashes so long and thinker too. I’m in love with this mascara ❤️
been feeling this way with the 20s lately, in short, do what makes you feel beautiful and happy, trends will always come and go♡
So beautiful and fun! I love how unique you are.
I love it! This is EXACTLY how Sharon Tate did her makeup look with Ben Nye’s liquid liner pod.
Do all the decades. This was so good. A recent example of 60s makeup was on Outlander. They did Caitroina Balfe and it was so so good.
I love the simplicity of this look. It could be dialed up or down so easily! I’d love to see you do glam looks from a bunch of decades, especially the 80s!
One of my favorite looks!!! Just want to mention that after discovering tubing mascara, there's no turning back for me.
And I love 60s and 70s, these year were so funky in fashion and style. Please do more of those, it's a great idea. I am also oversaturated with the English style full glam make up.
This is still a type of English style makeup. Twiggy is English and made this makeup fashionable
Oh this is awesome. I have been doing this type of makeup more lately and as usual your tutorial gave me a bunch of ideas to refine what I'm doing. Also I like that this is more a day friendly 60s look. Very useful.
Yes plese a glam version! I think creating makeup looks from different eras (maybe 80s or 90s grunge) could be a fun video idea :)
