Hello lovelies, today I will be discussing Memories of Sharon Tate from her sister Debra Tate.
What types of clothes did Sharon like to wear?
Sharon preferred Clean, Elegant, Simple lines... Not frou-frou at all. She particularly liked antique camisoles. She didn't like baggy clothes; she wasn't into Granny Coats like others were. She liked tailored clothes, even her Peasant Tops were tailored. She also had an Indian Wedding shirt tailored. She had blouses with hook and eye buttons made with spun gold. She wore jeans and pedal pushers.
How tall was Sharon?
Sharon was 5'6 tall. She wore a size six dress and her shoe size was 6 1/2.
What was Sharon's preference for perfume, make-up, lip stick, hand bags, shoes and accessories?
Sharon wasn't into perfume, as she was scent sensitive. (I am, too.) She always had a clean, fresh scent. She loved this bath product called "Milk and Pearls". I have her last bottle.
Skin Care Products: She loved Erno Lazlo, which you can still buy and
she never went to sleep with her make up on.
Sharon's favorite Make up: Her fave Lipstick: Ready? Vaseline! She kept little jars in her car. Sharon also liked Yardley clear lip gloss, and used her brown Max Factor eye brow pencil as a lip liner.
Shoes: Sharon disliked wearing shoes...Whenever possible, she would go barefoot or wear ballet slippers. Classic Ballet Pink was the preferred color --but she wore black slippers, too. I definitely remember that she had a pair of red ones, because she wanted to match a red mini dress, so we spray painted a pink pair, and made it red.
Accessories: Sharon wore big wide belts that went over jeans or skirts. She loved Chanel and Gucci handbags. Same brand for shoes, too. She had a big heavy, gold, Cartier cigarette lighter.
Jewelry: Sharon loved big hoop earrings and thin Love Beads that were made of tiny glass beads...called Bugle Beads. She was not big on rings or heavy necklaces...I think she didn't like rings because they brought attention to her hands and she used to bite her nails. Her real jewelry was a Cartier watch with a black reptile band.
In her off time, when not working, Sharon was always fresh scrubbed and wore little or no make up, and often her hair in pony tail. She was not vain at all. It didn't matter to her if people saw her without her make up on.
What kind of music did Sharon like to listen to?
I remember Sharon listening to The Beatles, especially the Yellow Submarine Album over and over again. She liked Chicago and The Doors. When she was with Jay she started listening to Jazz, as Jay was a Jazz Connoisseur. She also enjoyed Classical Chamber Music.
Was Sharon a natural blonde?
Sharon's natural color was in between ash blonde and mousy brown.
What was Sharon's favorite flower?
Yellow Roses (as in the Yellow Rose of Texas)
What brand of cigarettes did Sharon smoke?
Sharon smoked Tareyton cigarettes.
Did she have a sense of humor or was she serious?
Sharon had a devilish sense of humor and she liked to play practical jokes.
Could Sharon sing or play any musical instruments?
No, Sharon couldn't sing. She liked to sing and she'd sing with the radio or records, but not professionally. Mother played the piano and sang, but all Sharon and I could do is play "chopsticks".

Poor, poor Sharon Tate. It hurts my heart to think of how terrifying and painful her final moments must have been. It adds insult to injury, that her husband turned out to be so disgusting! I also hate that for at least most of us, its impossible to think of her, in a way that separates her from the vile men, who played such major roles in her life. She was truly beautiful though!
I like to think that when a person is killed in an awful way that GOD is there to comfort them that he takes their pain away

I’m into vintage shopping, a 6 during the 50s and 60s is equivalent to a contemporary 0. She would have had a 24-25” waist at most, which isn’t terribly surprising considering how thin and straight bodied Sharon Tate was.
actually more like size 2/3 today. 0 would have looked pretty puny. :)

Size 6 was very small back then. 12 was average, probably similar to a size 6 or 8 now. A 6 back then was more like a 2 in today's time.

I watched Valley of dolls with Sharon Tate as Jennifer.I fell in love with her she had so much talent and she was such a beautiful person inside and out.She is definitely an icon 💜
Sharon is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, without a doubt. She had such grace, thoughtfulness and an ethereal beauty about her that is undefinable. It's hard to comprehend what happened to her in the end. Still, she left quite a mark on culture and society in just 26 years. Quite an accomplishment !

Lovely tribute to Sharon Tate, the way I’d prefer to remember her! Her life was riddled w/ sadness, domineering, misogynistic (to put it lightly) men who took advantage of her beauty & kind soul then hurt her in many ways well before she was so brutally murdered. The stories of what Roman Polanski did to her are unconscionable! I pray she’s at peace after enduring such brutal, sick physical, psychological treatment😢💔. Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️ PS a vintage 6 today is a 0. I’m teensy & recall the smallest size as a 5/6 until around the 90s, then slowly seeing size 3’s.
Sharon was so incredibly beautiful. Makes me sick what happened to her. 😢 her style I can relate to even now. I love fresh scents and minimal makeup.

Wow, I had to look up Roman Polanski's height since Sharon looked huge next to him. Who knew he was only 5'3 when he was younger? He is probably even shorter now since people lose height with age and he is now 87.

She's a timeless fashion icon. Her wedding dress and Audrey's first wedding dress are my absolute favorites. She had such a pleasant demeanor it seems. Carefree and down to earth. Beautiful smile. 🙏

A size six then was around 32-23-32 or so--tiny
She seemed so modern and contemporary
Size 6 back was like size 0 today. With vanity sizes today, it’s so annoying and I hate when people say “Marilyn Monroe was a size 16.” That’s actually a size 8 today and that was when she was at her largest size when she was pregnant. Normally Marilyn wore what would be a size 4 today.

Yes they are a music group. They released their first album in 1969, so unless Sharon had bootlegs and such I don't see how she could have been such a big fan of Chicago's music. Maybe she did know about them who knows.

Why was Sharon's personal items put on auction? I would think her sister Debra would have gotten/inherited them.

She along with Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Farah Faucette......
Her sister Debra is getting older and was fighting breast cancer. She needed funds for that and she wanted to find good homes for Sharon's belongings, for when she is gone.
