    When I got my wisdom teeth removed, the first thing I did when waking up from anesthesia was cry and yell out, "I want my mommy" (I was 18), so yes, I can definitely attest to wanting your mom close by when going through something scary! (Obviously, much less severe than these cases).

      @@PlatinumIrishroseI’m in Canada! They don’t always put people under, but it was offered to me and I have horrible anxiety so I would NOT have done well being awake and sedated so they put me completely under instead:) it’s definitely not always the go-to, but the option is there! I’m lucky enough that my insurance covered it!

    I've had my jaw out of alignment. Only 2 teeth touched, which made it hard to eat. I had to go to an orthodontist to have it realigned and they gave me a device to put in my mouth at night to keep it aligned.
    I've also been thrown from my horse. I flew over her head and landed 5'-6' in front of her on my left hip. I couldn't get up, move my left leg, or put weight on it. Went to a local ER since my usual hospital was 60 miles away. They took xrays and said nothing was broken. Two months later, my doc sent me to an orthopedic surgeon, and he sent me for an MRI. It showed two pelvic fractures and one in my lower back. Bythen they were healing. He said I should have been on total bedrest for 12 weeks to heal. I was driving an hour to work, 9 hours at a desk job, hour drive home. I was mending fences and feeding my two horses while on crutches. It's been 17 years and I walk with a cane, have nerve damage, on heavy pain meds, and still can't touch where I hit the ground on my left hip. Could have been worse. I didn't punish her because something was hurting her and the only way to make it stop was to get me off of her. You can't punish a horse for being a horse. I got her at 2 1/2 months old and this happened when she was 19 yrs old. So wasn't expecting it. She'd never taken off with anyone or bucked anyone off before. Was my lucky day. I wonder if we had called 911, the paramedics would have said I had possible pelvic fractures. My physical therapist told me that something is broken if you can't move a limb or put weight on it. If only broken a toe before that so had no idea.

    Its never the horses fault. Molly was unbalanced, leaning too far forward and fell off. Balance is absolutely necessary when riding a horse, at all times. Those little "bucks" the horse did shouldn't have unseated her if she was riding totally balanced. Still, sorry she hit the ground so hard and hope she's OK. ❤🐴

    • @SandraNelson063
      @SandraNelson063 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I have loved them all my life. When I was a youngster I was blessed to attend an Olympic class riding school for a bit. Met the love of my life when I was 13. I have never met a human that I loved as much as that horse.
      We took special lessons where we were put on a large horse that wore a belt with hand grips. The horse was on a lunge line, trotting in circles. We had to learn to do " circus tricks" bare back. We learned balance, and self confidence.
      I still fell off a few times, and it was terrifying and very painful. But I got back up on the horse then and there. The horse would be confused, upset. There would be lots of petting, thumping and kind words. Once the horse was OK, the lesson would continue. How damaged was I? Suck it up, buttercup.

      Always best to make sure one is ok before she "sucks it up" don't you think ? I have very limited horse
      Riding experience so not sure how normal injuries are from a fall like that.

      There's a difference between fault and blame. Watch a rodeo and you can see that the best balance won't keep you on a horse if the horse wants you off. But that's not the same as blame. an animal is morally neutral. It can't be blamed for its actions.

      No one _should_ be in a 10/10 pain but, acute pain doesn't care about what things shouldn't be.
      Chronic pain/chronic conditions care even less about this standard.

    • @patmaurer8541
      @patmaurer8541 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm so sorry you're suffering! If you don't have a pain management specialist, you need one! Because that level of pain actually interferes with the healing process. Even if your condition is chronic, there are so many treatments and devices now--even techniques to train your brain to recalibrate, and to release your own endorphins on command when you need relief (the best of all, because no side effects!). Please don't give up hope, because there IS help for you to have quality of life again.

    • @butchieblock9118

      It's all relative though. My mother thinks she needs her arm amputated because she has a splinter in her finger. Me on the other had a burst fracture of my T12 and required 10 Staples in my head. And still called it an eight. Honestly, IMO, if you can VERBALIZE 10/10, I have to question that.

    • @Leslie_ann_h
      @Leslie_ann_h ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patmaurer8541 I'm grateful that I have a decent team of doctors (pain management, neuro, cardio, endocrinology, and sleep medicine/ent). My chronic pain and related neurological type conditions that give nothing but shit show levels of pain have me on a questionable combination of meds but the combination is helping to keep the severe chronic pain in check to prevent further neurological damage.
      Because fun fact- under treated/untreated severe chronic pain that goes on too long can/does have high chances of causing a type of brain damage (!!!!!) called neural pathway damage and destruction. I'm one of several people that my neurologist has who have been impacted by certain idiot doctors (mind you, they were competent physicians but they just didn't have enough knowledge of how to treat the shit show of chronic pain issues that I have) not increasing the amount of required medication to cover at least 70% of the amount of pain that I was experiencing with the other patients who are in the same boat (so to speak) as myself.

    • @CK-J16
      @CK-J16 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I agree- you're not going to lie there and smile with a 10/10 pain score. Then you don't know what pain is I'm sorry. I've been chucked, dragged, kicked in the ribs, head, body slammed by horses and 20 years later I still feel the pain in my body and even at the time it wasn't even close to a 4/10. Having a lumbar puncture go wrong, and that massive needle jabbed into your central nerve with ZERO anesthetic was a close 9/10.

      They explain at 14:15. When you give IV meds strong enough to control severe pain, it supresses breathing so very high risk. The patient's airway is risky because of recent and possibly undetected injuries.

    Molly saying she has 10/10 pain is nonsense. She’d be screaming in agony if she had that extreme level of pain. She’s clearly got a very very low pain threshold given that there were no seen injuries.

    • @KCMDWannabe
      @KCMDWannabe 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Pain is relative and also a 10/10 means different things depending on how the question is asked.

      @loftyradish6972 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Not necessarily, some people are screamers, some people get quiet. The more familiar people are with feeling pain, the better they are to handle their reaction to it. She has had a number of severe injuries from her hobby, so its likely she is familiar with being in excruciating pain. Half the time people scream its partly the pain, but its also the fear and other emotions that pain often causes. If someone is used to being in pain, they are also less likely to be emotionally distressed by it.
      But as the Dr said, it is likely she sustained an injury to her nerve, and as the Dr said, those tend to be extremely painful. Some injuries are extremely painful without being visible on a scan. It doesn't mean they aren't real.

    • @natasha1918
      @natasha1918 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Pain is subjective. I was having almost constant contractions during my induction with my 3rd labour and teared top to bottom with internal tearing as well, later resulting in emergency surgery. I didn’t scream. I went extremely quiet and started rocking between passing out. I was in so much pain and so exhausted my body couldn’t cry, scream or even whimper.
      Trust me. Pain is subjective and everyone acts differently

    • @lindaarnold5683
      @lindaarnold5683 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pain does not need to result from something one can see. For example, a heart attack is not visable but can be very painful. Maybe no one should judge someone else’s reaction to pain.
