  • Another demo of my Jazz Bass equipped with Dark Star pickups. This time the audio is from a Zoom H4n Recorder. I did not EQ or edit the audio in any way. What you hear is from my amp to the Zoom H4n. The bass is being played through a Boss CS-2 Compressor, a Boss RDD-10 delay unit (for a couple parts), and then into my Ampeg Micro VR.
I'm using the "If" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Mountain Song" by Jane's Addiction to demo the sounds. Fingers and Pick.
    Bass Specs:
    62 Reissue Fender Jazz neck
    Warmoth Ash body
Fender 62 reissue Stack Knob circuit
Jaguar Plate (Killswitch, Capacitor Switch, and an inactive switch)
    Hipshot Bridge
Strung with Ernie Ball Cobalt 45-105 (which i dont like very much)

its a hipshot b style aluminum, just like juan's. and yes those are jag style switches. one is a killswitch, one is a capacitor switch for the bridge pickup (i can switch between two caps for a darker or brighter sound), and one switch is currently inactive, i cant decide what it should do yet.

As far as I know, they haven't been made in a couple years. If you lurk talkbass you may find some answers. I bought these 5 years ago.

You used to have to contact Fred Hammon himself. I contacted him via email, and a couple months later they came in the mail. Fred hasn't been making them for a couple years, though I'm not sure if he has started again. He resurfaced on the Talkbass forums a couple weeks ago.
