i'm currently using a panasonic tz30, do you think it's worth the upgrade to the sony hx50v? obviously the zoom is better on the sony, what about overall photo and video quality?
Great test Dave, liked. Good video and audio quality overall, takes a while though to auto-focus. By the way, why have you covered up Penny? Is the room too cold?. Looks like an expensive mink scarf. Needed a pair of cosy wool stockings as well. Cheers.

Seems like quite a nice point and shoot. You fail to mention that there is also an android app for the camera as well. Would have been nice to have seen this in action. I'm sure Sony would have got a bit more power out of the android app.
By looking at that short video clip I would say the HX9 has better image stabilization (of course its short). I have done the same shooting from a 3 wheeled rickshaw with no suspension and cars and it turned out smoother. Also there seems to be some jello effect which you never get on the Hx9v. I have sample of the HX9v on youtube at search in google for Lou Wilson youtube

I think they no longer make this range. I would consider a Z-V1.

If you use the Zoom range in combination with AP you can achieve the desired effect.

Gemma Blanche Only thing I can think of is you subject is too close to the lens. Try zooming in to a landscape far away and see if they helps.

Don't replace it with a Sont I bought the HX50 the newest Sony in that line. Not Good. I sold it with 200 shots on it. The HX9v is much better
