It is wonderful seeing how well you work together and have such fun and enjoyment doing it!
First time seeing your channel. Love your sentiments, yes it is such a joy to find like-minded nature-appreciators in this plastic-based culture. You touched my heart!
I came here for insight on patty pans because we have a nice bushy bunch of them growing, but you have inspired me much more with your beautiful spirits! We’re new mid-30’s homesteaders, just bought a house on 6 acres in a new-ish town a few months ago, about 10 min out of town so not too far, but not too close either. COVID hit so we don’t have any friends yet really. I’ve gone through waves of dealing with isolation, feeling lonely, near panic attacks of whether we’ve made the right choice, and we don’t know anyone in our circle who has made this kind of decision so it’s sometimes hard to talk to them about it. Nobody else gets excited about seeds and soil like we do (at least not yet, COVID may be changing that for people...) Both of us are really into nature and health, and have felt called to go the homesteading route for years. We got work-from-home jobs to make this possible. It’s taken years to cook up this life and now that we have it, we’re kind of scared by it. I’ve have to remind myself it will get better as things become more familiar, as we meet more people like this, but some days it is hard. Your moment of thanks in this video was exactly what I needed! We all needs “friends” who are on the same page. We’re thinking about starting our own channel, I think that would help too. Subscribing to you kids!!! (P.S. We live in Northern California, Zone 9, hot hot summers, weeeeeee!)
How has it been for you this summer? I can relate to the isolation. Right now I feel like I'm in garden/kitchen jail even though I love to grow. It's just end of season burn out. Would live to know how it's going for you.
@@paintingtracey thank you for sharing / asking, sorry you’re going through that. I think our biggest problem is that we work from home too so home became a “job” & we got burnt out, less motivated to garden… heck I didn’t even feel like eating the things I grew, it was strange. As the summer got hotter to 110-115 here it was more difficult to maintain the garden. Then the fires started here in norcal so we ended up just leaving our home for 5 weeks to get away from the smoke & to visit family. Just got back this week & feeling a renewed sense of purpose & calm. Nobody was picking the plants while we were gone but we kept watering them so we have some fruit & veggie monsters to deal with. But I think vacation & seeing family was just the thing we needed not to feel isolated, & to give ourselves a break. The hardest thing if you’re at home a lot is you don’t feel like you get a break. So maybe you need a chance to step away? It was so nice to let my brain rest in the fact that I didn’t have to go take care of, prepare or check on something… when there are so many things to do, my lists didn’t help me after a while. All of the context switching made my brain too tired to care. So if you can get away for a bit that might help you too!
@@AliBabaZumba You are right, but it might not be in the cards for us with the way things are going right now. Maybe a short get away. I had no idea there were fires in NC. Wow, that seems unusual. I bet starting a channel would help you with the isolation. I would love to subscribe. Let me know if you do.
@@paintingtracey hopefully you have a chance to rest up in some way soon! If you live in a wintery area that’s always a good stopping point for garden. Fire season in north Cali will come to a close once the rainy season begins, Oct/Nov. I had thought about doing a channel on gardening but didn’t know enough yet as this is only 1.5 years into it. Maybe soon though. Definitely a good way to connect!! Thanks for following my fitness channel in the meantime :)
Oh, I miss the country life. 😢

Found your channel by way of Doug and Stacy. Happy I did!
Thank you. Have you subscribed? Thank you for watching. We really appreciate it.
You two are adorable! Thank you for this video😊 much enjoyed
Hello I'm a relatively new subscriber and I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a good week ahead. Take care
Thank you
Can you share what kind of dehydrator you use. I love this idea and want to do this. I have a ton of patty pan now.
We use an Excaliber dehydrator. It is the Economy model. We got it about 4 years ago from Cabelas.
❤️
It might be fun if you shared some recipes. The patty pan in soup sounds interesting. Loved the video, thanks.
Yes. This is my first time watching. I really enjoyed it. I would love to know how you make your patty pan lasagna. I would also like to know exactly how long it took to dehydrate your grated squash and your patty pan chunks. I decided to dehydrate mine too after watching you! I’ve never done it before. Thanks for inspiring me!! ❤️
Wow what kind of patty pan are those. This is my first year growing white patty pan. Question: Can or have you ever sliced the squash thin long ways and dehydrated to store for a lasagna or casserole? I know you mentioned lasagna. I have a few squash I want to put up. Thanks for the video.
Those are gigantic! What variety are they? Thanks for sharing how to preserve the awesome harvest. Blessings.
Y'all are just cute as can be.
What kind of dehydrator are you using? What was it you were lining your dehydrator with?
I am so exicted about next year. with the back to eating and the new green/chicken house. dont know if im going to have enough to put anything away yet
Looking over preserving squash's and your video's from when you lived in Oregon came up-:). You mentioned you made lasagna out of your Patty Pan, would love to get the recipe-:). I'm thinking you have mentioned something about a cookbook, would tus item be in it?? Thank you😃
We are noting your request and will make certain that recipe is included in the book. That is one great recipe that was not destined to be included. How did we miss it?
What will you use the shredded squash in and how will you rehydrate them?
We will use the shredded squash in soup and making zucchini bread. I will have to experiment on how much to rehydrate. I have about 2 cups of shredded on each tray and I have 2 trays in a bag.
i have never grown that kind of squash i am defiantly going to have to try it next year. do you make it into a soup like you would butter nut squash? hope you have a great week and GOD BLESS
No I just add it to the end of soup that has everything in it. You know that kind of soup. What every meat you have with what ever vegies you have and good broth.
