    Outstanding video. Please make more. I am a retired SPED Teacher (very deep well of experience and training.) I believe these videos will help the ADHD, Autism, Intellectual Disability, etc. communities to become mush more self sufficient. Frankly, most of the General Education Teachers and administrative staff can take many notes from your presentation and delivery. You delivered a model in the beginning, with an explanation of the big picture. You delivered prescriptive direction with visual and kinesthetic models. You concluded with a commonly understandable summary of achievement. Bravo. Congratulations! You can teach better than most of the DOE teachers in the country. It was a pleasure to respond to your video. Thank you.

    A few years ago, I replaced the radio in my wife's 2005 Trailblazer, and it was the biggest pain in the rear! had to practically dismantle everything, couldn't get the right adapter... grr... swore i'd never mess with anything like that again. But, now having seen this amazing video, I'm ready to replace the pain in the rear, lousy OEM radio in my 2006 Silverado! Thanks, great work, great vid! New sub.

    Great video. Concise and to the point.
    A few pieces of constructive criticism from a fellow DIYer that's been dabbling in car audio for 10+ years.
    T taps and scotch locks are a BIG no no in the car audio world. They have a tendency to make the wire weak and prone to failure.
    Crimp caps are acceptable for butting wires together, they just make your wiring harness look like poop IMO.
    Butt connectors are my preferred method if I can't solder and heat shrink/tape.
    To go the extra mile and really make your harness look super OEM solder and heat shrink all your connections, and then follow up by wrapping it in TESA tape.

    I agree that crimps and scotch locks are garbage. Always solder and heat shrink, it's worth the extra effort. On a positive note you've got some serious mechanical talent there! Not sure if that was due to video editing magic, but popping off the panels was not so straightforward for me, and you need to be really careful to pull things off equally are you will break the plastic in a heartbeat. I did this at 50° myself and ended up breaking the plastic, so that's another thing to be careful of. It's better to work in higher temperatures with plastic or you risk the risk of breaking. I thought 50° was warm enough, but 16-year-old plastic is really brittle. I was working on a 2006 Chevy express 3500. Thank God for junk yards!

So for $30 you can get the interface module and wiring adapter for your truck and not tap into the AC control system and have everything work as it should

    Do not tap into the AC power wire. Run the wire to the battery hot accessory port in the fuse box. Anytime you tie into another factory wire always solder the wires. Keep wrenching.

    • @casonray
      @casonray  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      thats what i did the last couple times on other peoples vehicles but i was wondering if there was a quicker way, yea soldering the wires would have been better but the switched wire for a radio is like a remote wire the the amp, it doesn't really drain power to mess anything up, the main power wire was already wired to the battery from the factory harness. but yea i should have soldered the wires.
