      @acrankymushroom intrusive thoughts want us to 100% without a shadow of a doubt verify absolutely that the thought isnt real or it will never happen. Which is logically impossible. The reason intrusive thoughts bother some of us and not others i because some of us have all or nothing thinking. We unfortunately see things as black and white, "either im not gonna do it, or i will" . And ofcourse absolutely nothing in life is certain. This all or nothing/black and white thinking, is one of the reason intrusive thoughts shock some of us more than others. The mere knowledge of this helps me however, i hope it helps you too. Stay strong! Meditation, an SSRI (prozac), exercise, and talking to my loved ones has helped me immensely. Although i am not diagnosed with OCD, i still make an effort not to overly rely on affirmations from my loved ones. Ofcourse theyre always there as a safety net. I wish you the best of luck! Stay strong💪

    I really need to actually do this, recently my ocd has spiked badly, and I’ve gotten into a compulsion of justifying in my own brain the thoughts about why they are wrong and then literally saying “go away leave me alone Intrusive thoughts” and what do you know, doing that has made it worse, I probably do that like 15 times a day right now and it’s miserable. It’s so hard to actually be like “oh yeah you’re right! Come on thoughts let’s party” because it feels like you’re letting yourself believe what the intrusive thought is saying. I really need to push myself to do this. If you’re reading this and have intrusive thoughts that get stuck or ocd, just know that you’re not alone, I know it feels like you’re alone sometimes because you feel like nobody fully understands, but you aren’t alone❤

      @@GenZ_Kid_1 Honestly, all you need to understand is everyone gets these thoughts, some people have stronger mindset and can laugh and ignore it but people with OCD can't, we stress about it, overthink about it, feed into it, give it attention to the point every time we get an intrusive thought, we feed it and repeat. The only way out is to let the thoughts be there, don't do anything let the thoughts come and go and that's it. Practice makes perfect. STARVE THE MONSTER! Don't give it attention and with practice, when you get the thoughts you naturally learn to not care about it and not give it power and it slips away at the back of your mind. Intrusive thoughts are difficult because they feel real but in reality, we don’t want them. They are intrusive for a reason, obviously this is easier said than done. I struggle with intrusive thoughts very frequently. You are not alone! I do think that when you give into intrusive thoughts, whether it be compulsions like reassurance or something different, it could become easier to snowball from there and continue to give into the thoughts- but like I said, you are not alone! Plenty of people have beaten and controlled their ocd and intrusive thoughts and compulsions and so can you. Just because you have the thoughts doesn’t mean you want them, like them, or agree with them. That icky feeling when you get an intrusive thought, and when you really want to stop thinking about it, almost reinforces the point that you actually don’t want the intrusive thoughts. Hopefully this was able to help/comfort you even the slightest bit. I’m here to talk even if it’s not ocd/thoughts related- that goes for anyone reading this !!

    1. Act like you don't care
    2. Trigger is okay in my mind
    3. If I stop the trigger I attach importance. Instead of pull and push: let go by detaching the trigger, lower expectancy, increase resilience against triggers, distance yourself from the trigger, make it unimportant, don't care the trigger is in my mind because I will do things without the compulsion

    It's like scratching a scab. If you scratch at it, the scab will get ripped off and the cut will open up again. But as soon as you stop scratching, it starts to itch a lot more. So, instead you can try soothing it with a bit of water, or 40 CD you can tell yourself that it's okay and you're going to be okay. And soothe yourself. While refusing to scratch the itch. And eventually the cut will heal. But you must not irritated or it will never heal. And it can even get worse if you do.

    I’ve had them my whole life, like I remember when I was 7 years old if I didn’t do a ritual of some sort in my mind it was like a family member would die, as pathetic as that sounds it’s what we ocd people experience every single day. It never fully goes away, its sometimes bearable and sometimes not, the thoughts that I am referring to. now it isn’t as such as a family member would die, it’s changed and I get it in other ways now like other intrusive thoughts and otherwise if I don’t think about them and try to deescalate the severity of the thoughts they’ll just eat my brain up and I’ll have soo much anxiety.

      @Riyuzako7 way better. It had reduced its impact for a little while. Then, some friend from work invited me to church (I have not been to a protestant church ever, and I don't usually go to church). Although I'm not a believer (at least not as of now), it gave me a huge morale boost. I started to take care of myself, buy myself new clothing, new haircut, you to glow up you know?
      If you are going through this, I know it can be hard, and that you may want to give up on everything, I know I wanted to. But it is not the right thing. As horrible as it feels, you must have faith in a better future, and patience for it to arrive. Keep moving onward, no matter how hard it is. Find refuge in philosophies, God, perhaps video games, anything (just make sure to eliminate the bad addictions once it's the OCD is leaving). Love can also help you a lot. It did for me. Although I don't think I'll be with this girl (she's the one who invited me to church), my love for her somehow made me stronger and want to improve myself. But beware, these things can be taken away from you, so the most important is that you are your own pillar. If others are your pillars, and they fall, you shall fall with them. But if you are your own pillar, then you will never fall.
      Pardon my long text, but I hope it will go better for you. You got this, trust in yourself and in your capacities. You will overcome them, and your dreams shall no longer be just dreams. Good luck

    My question is that when the thought is really disturbing to think about, and thus definitely not something you would accept in your thoughts, how do you accept and let it pass? Does letting it pass mean you are above it and thus it has no effect on you? Because it feels like accepting it makes it a part of you, and obviously you don’t want that, but I get that ideally you want to accept that everything is a part of you and it may not have any value. Cause I just feel like once I say “you can come and go as you please”, I’ve given the thoughts free access to the front of my mind where it is distressing, but I get the idea that it’s supposed to create a sense of “I’m indifferent to this thought because I don’t combat my thoughts”. Right?

      My exact dilemma

    • @Traecorz
      @Traecorz ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Accepting the thoughts means you are accepting that fact that your having the thought instead of pushing it away, you simply have to be so confident about who you are that you can do this, like the mind cannot tell you that you are not alive because you know your a 100% alive, you have no doubts of this, the doubt is the weakness, the thoughts are attacking this doubt, accepting the thought will not make you what it is, you could have thoughts that you are disciplined person but then sit and play video games for hours, the action defines who you are, by working out constantly makes you disciplined, or not engaging in bad habits. You have to reduce the sensitivity and emotional control of these thoughts, your mind understands your weak spots greatly, accepting these thoughts shows yourself you are not afraid of it, and you can also accept these thoughts because you know that it is not you, you are only accepting the thought to get rid of it, manipulating your mind the way your mind tries to manipulate you.

    • @AgarioSplitrunner
      @AgarioSplitrunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Answer:
      Get a paper and pen. Write down all your thoughts, emotions and body sensations. Then categorise them between: ruminating, rituals, reassurance-seeking, compulsions, attachments, triggers, safety behaviors, escape, avoidance
      Next is, focus on the triggers, practice for weeks with trigger thought awareness until triggers are not appearing subconscious and unquestionable anymore. Then practice for weeks to accept and really experience the triggers and the signal word 'because' of attachment. Practice until you lower expectancy, you think about triggers until you don't care anymore when they appear, but in all practising always focus on the trigger so never stop or change it to positive. They have to maintain negative otherwise your habituation and inhibitory learning model won't improve your ocd

    • @AgarioSplitrunner
      @AgarioSplitrunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      First, see these feelings as system feelings and not your. 1. Focus on your triggering emotions. Don't stop them, don't change them to positive because cbt techniques are counter-productive against intrusive strong feelings. Always be aware of the feellings while saying: it doesn't have a meaning. Google for defusing strategies for ocd. Practice it until your feelings are not anymore subconscious and taboo. Then practice: 2. Realising your feelings exist (which means accepting. But don't be okay with these system feelings) 3. practice until expectancy decreases, resilience increases while you focus on the feelings and detachment improves
