I've always had OCD. It's like it was built into me as a default setting. I don't remember ever being without it. My very first memories are of me performing compulsions at 5 years old, crying and not understanding why I couldn't stop. So... I have a wealth of experience in this field. :)
Your videos are everything I need. They're just incredible. I'm in a "safe space" because I've been taking medications for a long time. However, I started feeling my safe wall being penetrated by the exacerbation of OCD, and I was slowly but surely going back to square one. But the information that you provide is unearthly. Man, I can't express how much you make my life better and better. Personally, it's so much easier for me to prevent physical compulsions. I would say at this point I don't have any because it was relatively easy to let them go. It's the mental compulsions that are MUCH HARDER for me to deal with. And boy oh boy, they've been ruining my life since I can remember myself. I do as you say (not without exceptions when OCD takes over, but still) and I just... feel unbothered by the thoughts? I let them be, I don't click on the ad. Sometimes I just agree with them because it's too much. But I know for sure that just a few years ago these exact thoughts would have eaten me alive and I would have ended up at the mental hospital again. Thank you.

What would be the compulsion if the compulsion is only mental? For example, not wanting physical sensations so the OCD targets those sensations and the checking of the sensations won't stop. Is the checking the compulsion? This goes a bit deeper because you can focus on something without thinking about it. So the focus is still there while your're doing something else if that makes sense?
And in this case, how would you apply the advice in this vid?

I feel like i need personal guidance to help me learn how to stop partaking in mental checking of my body. It seems like sensorimotor ocd with regard to eating / swallowing. I have moral scrupulousity (without religion) and it is the worst thing I've ever gone through. I could not stop doing the compulsion of confessing to my family. It got so bad that I went to stay with my brother for 6 weeks. I've gotten quite a bit better, but I'm scared to go home and be around the people I used to confess to because my ocd has made them a trigger, and I hate that it's done that. I return home in one week. Do you have any suggestions for when I'm overwhelmed by old triggers. My compulsions were so intense I felt out of control.

Yk i have really bad mental compulsions and im 16… im obsessed with comparing myself to others and feeling like im not enough and feeling bad about myself and whenever literally smth really minor has to happen to just trigger these obsessions of feeling horrible about myself.. and i start comparing myself and get anxious becoz i don’t wanna feel like this.. and nothing seems to help and that monster inside my head knows that im doing the right thing rn to overcome this so it stops me by pulling me into intense rumination… it gets so bad😩 and literally any behaviour of mine can trigger those obsessions of feeling bad .. like even writing my true feelings here in this comment would make me feel horrible about myself like why can’t i be strong this n that.. i just expect things to be absolutely out of this world perfect!! So bad!

My OCD is getting much more religious rn
Strong eg: It makes me think of doing something very anti religious, n suddenly my mind curses God(intrusive Ik) n because it is so sudden.... it makes me think that I am the one doing it or did that on purpose(as I was not thinking anything about it n yet it was so specific, n so I am actually that kind of a bad person)
    IT'S ALL MOSTLY INTRUSIVE
Second off, uses the example specificied that every other sin can be forgiven but not this- in my religion
And then, there... creates as many acts of it as possible
Just.. makes me think n centers my entire, good, bad, angry or all kinds of situations around it ugh not sure(a while back example)
    Anyways-

Stop doing compulsions by refocusing on studying.
Also do ERP with the core fears around the obsessions that you have while studying. You can do a loop tape with them and listen to them while doing your studying.

    • @johandeen6096

@@findingyourself8310 It's basically health anxiety. It's the strong conviction that stress is bad for your health, especially when it's long term. In other words, stress needs to go. The OCD attaches on this which creates a loop of getting stuck stressing on having stress. So I actually don't have much stress about anything just about having stress. So I tend to focus on the stress every day and that creates the stress that needs to go. But I'm unable to let it be there or not focussing on it. It's the believe that it's bad that makes me focus on it every day. And I can't get rid of this believe because all science says it's bad. And it also feels bad.
