I was raised on Country Music and Earnest Tubb will always be one of my all time favorites. The first time I heard this song I was with my favorite boyfriend who wound up breaking my heart in a million pieces. And through all these years I never truly got over him I still love this song although it brings back a sad time I wish I could forget, but that’s.......Another Story !!!
The only type of music I claimed to "hate" as a kid, has ultimately become the only music I want to hear at this particular point in my life. Such is growing older I guess..
one of the classic all time greats. unlike today he always took time to sign autographs and talk to the people who buttered his bread as he put it. his fans were important to him
ET headlined to the Monroe County (WI) Fair in 1964. The Fair would consist of three acts, all Grand Ole Opry stars, with the main act going on at Nine O' Clock CST. ET was one of two people in the history of Opry stars at the Monroe County Fair (1962-1999) to play all three sets. The other was a fella who never amounted to much in music. His name was John R. Cash. My Great Uncle got drunk (his words) with ET that evening as his bus driver took a wrong turn out of the Fair and stopped at the next bar, 8 miles away, to ask for directions. According to Uncle Buck, ET sat next to him at the bar and stayed there until three thirty AM when the County Cop came in and told them they'd had enough and to leave the bus parked.
@@stewartfenton7660 That Cash was from Arkansas and was a vacuum cleaner salesman in Memphis for awhile. Not sure if he ever amounted to much. Lol. December 3rd is my birthday and 1203 was my Grandparents address, so I always use 1203.
Great song. Even though he never recorded it, I heard that this was Merle Haggards favorite song. ET was a great showman And The Texas Troubadours a terrific band.! Real country.
Sonny Dave I remember as a child we lived down the road from Buddy and Karen Charelton , their kids were our friends and as kids one time we wanted to start our own band with Jack Green’s son and Buddy’s kids. It was fun times!
The RealKing of Country Music. ET. My Grandpa's favorite. He used to stay up late on Saturday nights just to listen to the Midnight Jamboree. His favorite song was "Thanks A Lot."
When you talk about country music you have a few names that will always come up. ET and the Texas Trubadours is certainly one of them. We was one of the true greats of Country Music.
One of my Favorites, but I like any and all of his stuff but I particularly really like the stuff that Leon Rhodes did! one of the best and most underrated pickers of all time
Moon Mulligan' was my grandmother's brother my family was the closest to Hank Sr. Jambalaya and alot of other songs where cowritten with him this song was written by my father's first cousin Arlie Duff he also brought Patsy Cline into the Industry I just thank God my father taught us kids about the music industry and what kind of people are in it .There we're those that controlled alot of Nashville look at it today they brought the true country music down on purpose God bless you all the country is on the brink of collapse 🆘😢
ET was of course #1 with this song for decades. I was so happy to see this song get re-introduced in the 70's by Leon Redbone(possibly on SNL)to a whole new generation of listeners.
If that aint country then there's no such thing as country!..... LOL One of my other favorites I used to play of his when I played in country bands was, " Mr. Jukebox ".
When I was young I went to many Ernest Tubb Concerts, thanks to my mother .... Over the years, Ernest never changed --- and he was always people centered! We have many pictures of him and with him; like Boxcar Willie, he was a naturally great person 👍
Great song, and even better star. ET 's lowest level songs are still good, and beat today's country. Directness tears through like a rifle bullet. Thanks for this!
Beautiful song by Ernest Tubb... Reminds me of my Mom she and my older sister used to go see him every time he was in Redwood City, California.. He tried to get my Mom to go with him.. He liked my Mom a lot..
That's cool Kenny.. Does any of your family still live in Redwood City? I really don't know that much about Redwood City I lived in Alameda, California during high school . Soon after I graduated I came back home to Utah.
Just read a letter my uncle wrote my grandma about my other uncle was killed in WW2. And in the letter he said he was listening to Ernest tubbs on the radio. God bless or country and our troops. Them was some hard times back then and those men died for this country and to have people or demons today trying to destroy this country is very sad. Sorry just had to write this down and get it off my chest. God bless, God speed..... ..
You forgot Jack Greene & Cal Smithq ET helped them both get they're own careers going. ET was a great troubadour & helped alot of artists like Loretta Lynn, Skeeter Davis, Jack Greene, Cal Smith and the list goes on and on and on. ET was a great artist, songwriter, businessman in the Country Music Industry. Sadly missed. RIP ET
I found it on iTunes UK its only available there because its an import but theres no way to purchase it so i called ernest tubb record shop in Nashville they said they have it
Ernest Tubb , an American icon for ever !
HE WAS THE GREATEST SHOWMAN IN COUTRY MUSIC AND ALWAYS HELPING TO GET SOMEONE IN THE MUSUIC BUSINES. AND HE IS VERY MUCH MISSED.
we NEED more of this today.
Won't happen. No more talented writers or real country singers and musicians.
They're there, just underground. Big labels won't hire musicians they cant manipulate to fit their agendas. Said times indeed.
Go to South Texas there bare the traditional singers like Amber Digby,Jade Jack
You are right! Forget about Nashville!
Yes we do
Just think how great this sounded on an old Whirlitzer juke box in a small smoke filled honky tonk in yjr 70s
Truly one of the truly pioneer greats of country music
