I can so relate to the warm and cozy sentiment. I own all 11 seasons on DVD and there are certain episodes I will play on repeat all night long to sleep to. Superb interview.
Living in Los Angeles I have had my share of celebrity encounters. One was Mike Farrell. Unfortunately he was very rude to me and without provocation. I have carried that with me for over 30 years. I see here that he appears to be a much nicer and gentler Mike Farrell. That's what aging does to some people. I want to believe that my unfortunate encounter with him was not typical of his behavior and that he was having a bad day. I did enjoy this interview.
@@ThatsClassicTV My encounter with Mike was around 1985, give or take a year. M*A*S*H was in his rearview mirror at that point so perhaps he was struggling to get back on track with his career and he was on edge. Who knows? To say the least I was terribly disappointed in his less than friendly attitude toward me. For me there have been only two or three celebrity encounters that have been a disappointment for me and Mike was one. Despite this I do think he's an extraordinary actor and he was wonderful as Hunnicut. By the way the actress in question was Donna Loren.
As you said, some people are jerks when they’re younger. My dad told me about a time Bill Murray was a complete asshole to him at a bar in New York 30 years ago but he seems to have mellowed
I don't see farrell as the hugging Feely type of guy aside from being an actor. But being rude I find it hard to believe. must have been having a bad day as I imagine a hollywood celebrity might on occasion. My dad is around Mike's age and he delivered orders from a pharmacy in West Hollywood in high school. Until he had a close call on his motorcycle walked the bike back to the store and quit
I can remember "Hawkeye's" persistence in learning "B.J.'s" full name. Nothing to it - "B.J." was named after his mom, "Bea" and his dad, "Jay." The look on "Hawkeye's" face - priceless!
Had me on the edge of my seat and then you stop!!!! lol. I'm looking forward to the second part. Great job as always. Have always been a fan of Mike Farrell. As always love the stories and back stories about these shows. Thank you John for sharing him with us.
My pleasure Jamie and glad to hear you were ready to see part two which is also very interesting😀My goal is to release the second part as soon as possible.
Another great one! I'm assuming you prob asked Mike - but it'd be awesome to hear an interview with his wife the greaxt Shelley Fabares. Loved her in One Day at a Time & what a career - The Donna Reed Show, Coach, the hit record Johnny Angel, working with Elvis, Sinatra, Paul Newman, Hank Williams Jr, James Garner, Raymond Burr, Danny Thomas & Robert Urich
Hi, John! How have you been? That was a wonderful interview with Mike Farrell, and I can't wait for the second part. I also look forward to the Stefani Powers interview. "M.A.S.H" is my favorite sitcom (although it's really much more than that), and several of my favorite episodes revolve around B.J. I'm particularly thinking about the episode in which they recreate B.J.'s anniversary with the help of his wife and also the one where he tries to organize a reunion in the states with his friends' families. I'm sure the second half of the interview will include some discussion about his wife, Shelley Fabares, another of my favorites. By the way, I'm pretty sure the Donna of beach movies fame was Donna Loren.
Hi Kevin, nice pick up on realizing it was Donna Loren😀I love both of those episodes as well, so touching. MASH always leaves me in a good place. Second part will be here soon….
Mike Farrell once portrayed President Kennedy in a one man monologuing, about his final few days in office, before Dallas. Really well done. He also did an obscure film called the Questor Tapes, about an android ( not Farrell) that achieves consciousness. Weird sci-fi film.
One of "B.J.'s" best pranks with the help of "Dr. Sidney Friedman" - filling a deep moat just steps away from the "Swamp" doorway & yelling "Air Raid!" One of my favorites!
Yes! My favorite scene, Sidney yelled 'air raid' twice, Frank comes out also yelling 'air raid' twice, then stumbles & falls into the fox hole that B.J. filled with water.
@20:21Final Episode... well, that sort of explains why it is so rarely shown. Just finished watching the series (again) on METV, and they skipped the last episode!! After the episode where they buried the capsule, the network (METV) went back to the beginning, starting with the pilot!! So frustrating!!
Mike has done lots of interesting stuff a couple of tv movies he made one was Vanishing act with Elliott Gould who was in the original MASH and Margot Kidder and Fred Gwynne
Season 4 was also Harry Morgan's first-year on the series also so if the series tanked that year Mike should not have blamed himself as it could also have been the departure of McLean Stevenson and Harry Morgan coming in as his replacement.
I kinda met and saw Mike with James Cromwell I think you spell his name low self esteem was afraid to ask either question s but they both came to Helena Montana to talk about a issue. So the questions I had wouldn't of been right but was oh I don't know so don't like being a former special ed kid hard to explain things
His biggest concern was that B.J. wouldn't end up as just a clone of Trapper. B.J. was far different from Trapper. Alan, Mike and Wayne remained close friends till Wayne Rogers's death.
hate for mike farrell ?? nah mike farrell is a most likeable cultured actor. Not a fan of MASH (tv show ) it reminded me of the war and not fond of the characters except maybe radar.
@ThatsClassicTV I honestly did not know he survived a tour in KOREAN WAR. His acting career is a snapshot of the struggling new crop of wannabes in acting classes. The story about he was too tall for one audition and then told he was too short and finally he got the gig but he had to wear a gorilla suit. THAT WOULD BE REALLY FUNNY if it wasn't such a tough dose of reality and not that uncommon. GREAT stories from Mr. FARRELL

Thank you Will! Hope you enjoy Part 2 of the interview as well. MASH definitely puts you in that comfort zone no doubt about it.
I mean this respectfully. I love your comment, and it tickles me to know I'm NOT the only MASH nut.
Mr. Ferrell, Your a, "Blast from the Past!" I still watch, "MASH!" Every chance I get.🎉😊
Thanks for getting Mike Farrell he's a legend I love mash and love bj
Completely my pleasure, I loved it😀MASH is one of my favorites, enjoy and part 2 will be here soon!

I'm 25 and this show if by far, my favorite show!
It is just a great show that is so easy to enjoy!
Mike is a very warm and down-to-earth guy. This is a great interview. Enjoyed it immensely and looking forward to part 2 tomorrow.
Mike is the best! Such a wonderful soul, I love Mike. Part 2 is just as wonderful😀
This is awesome! I definitely hit that sub button. Time to revisit my childhood. Thank you.
Thanks Rick! Glad to have you on board, enjoy the interviews😀
Great interview...looking forward to part 2. Thanks John 🇨🇦
No problem Debra, it was a thrill to interview Mike> Part 2 coming very soon...😀

Wow what a great great interview! looking forward to more
Thanks Kathy, Mike is such a great person, hope you caught Part 2 as well!

8:44 Mike Farcel was a good for MASH
Couldn't agree more:)
Just a really lovely man ...loved him for years x
@@ann-mariebarmby1228 I couldn't agree more, send me a question for my upcoming interview with Mike and Shelley:)
Thank you Mike Ferrell, I am so happy you could take a role of a faithful husband. ❤️
Mike is a great guy no doubt!
Mike Farrell once portrayed President Kennedy in a one man monologuing, about his final few days in office, before Dallas. Really well done. He also did an obscure film called the Questor Tapes, about an android ( not Farrell) that achieves consciousness. Weird sci-fi film.
Thanks Wayne love the additional insight😀
I really loved him in "Providence". Hope Part 2 gets to that.
Actually it does so I think you will enjoy that😀
Yea I loved him on Providence too.
One of "B.J.'s" best pranks with the help of "Dr. Sidney Friedman" - filling a deep moat just steps away from the "Swamp" doorway & yelling "Air Raid!" One of my favorites!
That is hysterical, I have to look that one up.
Yes! My favorite scene, Sidney yelled 'air raid' twice, Frank comes out also yelling 'air raid' twice, then stumbles & falls into the fox hole that B.J. filled with water.
fantastic.thank you
Your very welcome! Hope you enjoying as much as I enjoyed doing it! Hoping to release the second part this Sunday😀
One time Mike Farrell played a Dr addicted to morphine on bonanza I think it was called the hidden enemy. This was pre mash
Love it, thanks for the info!

That is frustrating but glad you got your answer in the interview😀
Stephanie Powers (or, Taffy Paul) also played John Wayne's and Maureen O'Hara's daughter in "McClintock".
Love it , didn’t remember that.
BJ was a cool guy on Mash! Hi BJ!
Love Mike Farrell such a sweet man and married to the love of my young life
Seriously, Mike is just a good person and very inspirational, they make a great couple.

Valid point but I am sure he still would have felt the pressure as Harry was a seasoned acting veteran and Mike was still the younger guy coming in.
What I noticed is his character changed once the mustache was grown.
Interesting I never noticed a difference😀Part 2 should come out tomorrow afternoon 👍
❤❤🎉😊❤❤
Nobody can take Wayne Rogers or MCLain Stevensons place ever.
Everyone has their favorites on an amazing show😀
@@ThatsClassicTV Yes I do. But I’ve also cast actors before, so I have a feel for what demographic like what?

I like his play off of Larry linville
Agreed and smart funny delivery😀
I love M*A*S*H!!!!! I liked B.J. better than Trapper!!!!!
I love MASH too! So funny how everyone has their favorite of the two😀

as long as frank was there... mash was great.. after frank..... not so much.......
Hard to argue that as Frank was the ultimate foe😀
be sure in next interview to ask him about BJs one time infidelity episodes
If we have another interview I will try to remember that😀
