    I'm a big fan of this car and the MX-6. For some reason I'm into the more forgotten or under appreciated 90s sports cars like the Probe. I'm hoping I can eventually find a good one in Ontario like yours.

    I had two of these back in 97 thru 2002. First one was a silver 95 GT base automatic with cloth seats and the second was a fully loaded 94 GT with spoiler sunroof stick shift and rear wiper. Both were great cars. I still love them.

    I loved my 95 Probe! I put 300 thousand miles on my Probe, then sold it after I bought my new truck. I miss that car!

    1996 First year to remove the Probe window logos and only year to eliminate the rear wiper, it came back in 1997. Neat that you have all the console buttons too in addition to the EQ - neither available that year. Neat green is the paint code, but the actual name is Medium Alpine Green CC Metallic. 1996 also had 3 cat's, only year for that. My 1997 is the same color, had it since Oct 1996.

    Got my brand new probe gt in Louisiana, no CARB restrictions. Drive it to California and through the Texas desert it did all of the 140 mph with the tach needle buried at 8000. I missed that sweet car. It was very fast for 164 HP and it handled like a true sports car

    • @elkofcanada5003
      @elkofcanada5003  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! It really does feel faster than the 164 HP it claims. I always wondered if the 143 MPH top speed I've read on some vintage reviews was legit too! Never had the idea to try it haha

      @socleanmx6 you had an eclipse gst too? It was ok for speed but the engine sounded shitty. Nothing like the screaming 2.5 liter probe GT. I had a bltiz exhaust, tied in a waste gage regulator adjuster, custom bullet machined blow off valve,k&n air filter and crank case ventilator.

    I have a 1997 16v in this color. Great nostalgia car for me, I had a red 1993 as my first car in college 25 years ago. Someday i'll get her down off the jackstands, at least I hope so!

    I loved the Ford Probe when that generation came out for the 1993 model year, and could finally afford one years later when I bought one brand-new in '97. Same green colour as in the video, but with green cloth interior, and no sunroof (for more headroom). I ended up keeping it for 17 years, doing most of the maintenance myself, except for brakes and oil changes. I changed the control arms, struts, springs, rear hatch struts, etc. The "Premium Sound" wasn't very good at all, so I changed out the head unit for a more powerful Alpine, and replaced the speakers. Finally sold it in 2014 with about 220,000 Km.
    Changes from '96 to '97 include:
    - lower exterior door GT logo made softer and with a fade effect
    - rear-wiper returns
    - power retracting radio antenna replaced with a fixed antenna
    - removal of soft trim on interior doors near driver/passenger elbow
    - stronger side impact beams in doors to meet 1997 side impact standards
    - chrome wheels available as an option (these had a tendency to peel, mine were standard aluminum)
    Overall, a great car. They should have offered more power in the later years to keep it more competitive, but Ford knew they were discontinuing it with no real replacement. The 1998 Mercury Cougar was the spiritual replacement, but it was heavy, slower, and riddled with problems.

    I had a red 1996 Probe GT, auto, red with grey leather interior. It was a really nice car, well made, very good looking, lots of room inside with tons of legroom (one of the very few cars that I had to put the driver seat forward, instead of all the way back, and still wish I had more leg room). I haven't seen a Probe on the road literally in decades, let alone the Mazda MX6 the car was based on.

    They Are really unique and great looking cars! You Dont see anything like these on the streets these days and even in the yrs they were produced, the probe was unlike the other cars of its era.. Yours is a head turner for sure! way better shape than my car that Ive had from new..You also have Alot of extras that mine lacks..I dont have that funky cupholder, no power seats, no leather either..I Did have the factory stereo with that cool equalizer but pulled it out yrs ago cuz i wanted to have a player with usb /mp3 playback...So my EQ is no longer wired into the system..my seats are cloth and shredding..power antenna snapped off by someone when parked, bodywork cracked where it flare out in front of the rear wheels... my paint is white and still great shape but overall, urs looks mint by comparison....I see u rotated the strut mounts...did that take care of the excessive camber issue for you? an alignment is advised somewhere down the line cuz ur toein will have changed..

    I had one like yours from new in 96, 2.5 24v 5 speed in the uk , same colour (alpine green) with tan interior. The wheels on my car had straight spokes , the 97 car had the turned spokes. The car wasn’t the fastest but the torque was amazing, I used to forget that the car wasn’t an automatic, in top gear I could slow down to 20 mph & pull away again without any problems. The car got slatted by the British motoring press but I loved the car.

    • @elkofcanada5003

      Yeah it got rave reviews here in all the publications of the time. The name however seems to have gotten it a bad reputation undeservingly. Though now when people talk to me about it, they have nothing but good memories of them in the 90's!

    There was an era where the selling point was how many cup holders the car got. The first thing my cousin showed me when he bought his SUV was the 1 million cup holders he had in his SUV😂😂😂😂. With the split folding back seat, this car did everything for me for many many years.

  • @pgtmr2713
    @pgtmr2713 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    There's no lock for the cupholder. If there's something in the cup it should stay down. I used the flip out cupholder as the secondary cupholder til it was broken off by a passenger leaning on it. Since then I have a piece of exhaust pipe that I cut, and folded over. One side sits in the inside cupholder the other hangs out behind in the box. It can handle to 44 oz. drinks if necessary.

    • @elkofcanada5003
      @elkofcanada5003  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mazda built that car not ford. You can see hints of rx7 in the probe and mx6. The probe was the sportier version of the two. The 2.5L v6 is a non interference motor also so if timing belt goes your motors ok.

      Actually those engines were some of the most fun smooth engines. They did not feel slow. I had my mazda mx6 with the same engine up to 140 very easily. On a curvy road they felt very fast and drove like on rails. That was a mazda engine with input from porche. Quarter mile time was not great but if you were already rolling and dropped down a gear and floored it everyone who ever rode in it was like holy shit this car is fast. Cats are fun when you can rev them out and these cars pulled hard after 4 rpm when ita version of vtec kicked in. I had more fun in that car than I do in my mustang with more than double the horsepower.
