This car was literally in my family for 20 years. I was the owner for 8 of those years. Kinda surreal to see my old car on TH-cam! Long story short, he had bought it from Eby Ford in Nappanee, IN as the second owner. He loved it, especially the fact that there was no other Probes around let alone in this condition. The GT package with the tan leather was so unique. Lots of childhood memories in the passenger seat. After he sadly passed in ‘11, it sat for 2 years until it became mine. I learned how to drive a 5 speed with it, and took the best care possible of it until 2020 when some mechanical gremlins along owning too many vehicles caused me to part ways with it. At first I regretted it, but seeing being used and enjoyed in this video has brought closure to me that it wasn’t a bad decision. It makes me so happy to see the car that my grandpa and I loved still out there, being properly preserved. Thanks for sharing this!

That is very amazing I'm glad that that car got saved and I hope in the future if that person ever sells it they sell it back to you I know how sentimental can feel for vehicles I am visually impaired but I still have eight cars in my collection I've been trying to find a Ford probe for years but unfortunately I can't find one in upstate New York because they usually are rusted out but I have a mustang in my collection I have a Taurus wagon I have two Taurus sedans I have a Honda of LeBaron and a couple other cars but I love working on cars being visually impaired I still can work on cars I put it on my TH-cam channel I actually have a TH-cam channel about the Ford probe if you look on my channel in the Ford probe I have a lot of memories in it my mother got one for $150 and it lasted us a year and a half until it got stolen and so I got in a car wreck with it and totaled it and it sucked I love that car a lot I wish I was older than I would have saved the car got stolen and smashed if I could have saved the car I would have but I was too young back then to save it I like that probe a lot especially the one that my mother had was a 93 Ford probe I loved how it had manual windows but I'm very glad that car got saved these probes need to be saved they were supposed to be the fourth generation mustang but for decided to cancel that and push off the mustang to a further year and called the probe instead of the 4th generation the probe would have been a good mustang if Ford would have let it be a model I think they should have kept it and called it the mustang but I like the probe either way it's an awesome car I love those cars a lot but sorry if there's any type errors I speak into my phone and it writes for me I am legally blind but feel free to check out my TH-cam channel Joey adventure 1436 you can see the story further down in my videos about the Ford probe

What a throwback! My father bought a new '93 Probe GT when I was in high school; I bought it from him in '97 and drove it until '02. It was a seriously fun car and I miss the sound of that Mazda V6.

My father also bought a new '93 Probe GT (red), but I was much younger. I fondly remember him driving me to school everyday in that car. The car was kept bone stock but the stock engine note was buttery smooth. After I got my license, I was able to take it out a few times and was pretty great to drive. It held up well for 160,000 miles until the transmission gave up. Unfortunately he just ended up turning it into the cash for clunkers program.

I had a 1994 Probe GT, I remember hitting almost 240kmh on the highway and it felt really good and planted, handling was amazing for that era... at one point did a quick lane change and the back end bounced over into the next lane while to front end stuck to the ground, Fun times.

I really thought the Probe was a fine option in the sporty coupe category in the '90s....a sweet design for sure. I drove a series of Honda Preludes, and the '92 Prelude SI was not as appealing in terms of the interior, but the solid build quality, tight 5 speed and VTEC top end won out for me. This was indeed a great era for affordable enthusiast coupes.

    • @therealcarlmarti

If I am not mistaken the '92 Prelude Si did not have VTEC. In '93 they added the 190 hp Prelude VTEC model above the 160 hp Si.

It wasn’t one of the fastest or prettiest sports cars I’ve owned, but probably the most fun. I loved that car.

Back when I was a young teenager my friend had a Mazda MX-3 with the tiny 1.8l V6 and 5 speed manual. It was such a blast, and being in a small town there were plenty of tarmac into gravel "back roads" to get the car sideways into. It reminds me of a tiny version of the MX6.

I had a '93 GT; the car was so much fun. I put a Borla exhaust system on the car, which sounded nice but much louder than stock. We would drive it downtown and take it to Lower Wacker Drive, it sounded great down there.
I kept that car for 16 years and put 255,000 miles on it. There were no major problems all those years. I probably would have kept it longer if it had all the safety features introduced in 2009 when I got my Mazda 6. It only had a driver's side airbag-that's it. I think the other safety feature was the anti-lock brakes. Midway through those miles, I ended up putting the original exhaust back on just to quiet the car down.
If I could find a clean GT, I would purchase it, but this time, I would get the 5-speed manual.
Thanks for the memories with this video.

Haha, nice! I haven't seen a Ford Probe GT in years! My brother had a '94 Probe GT 5-speed manual. Great car! I owned a couple of very rare cars with similar Duratec 2.5L DOHC V6's... First, in 1999, I bought a 1998 Mercury Mystique LS V6 with the very rare 5-speed manual... I loved it so much, that in 2002, I lucked out and found a very rare, Silver Frost with Blue leather interior, 1998.5 Ford Contour SVT (E1) 5-speed manual with 38k miles on it. The first owner was an old man who babied it... It was like new, and surprisingly, it still even smelled new! I know they were beaten on and fell apart years later, but I'm telling you, my SVT Contour felt like a FWD version of my buddies E46 2002 BMW 330i Sport. He even agreed. It felt very European. Such a shame people beat & wrecked them to the point that it's almost impossible to find an SVT Contour in great condition now... If you can find one at all. I still regret selling that car in 2006. Anyway, as always, amazing POV video! Thank you so much for making this man! Awesome!! 👍

I had this and loved it more than anything. I sold it at 75k miles because it started making rattles and it drove me nuts. I wish I would have kept it 😭 and worked on the rattles.

Fun video. I had a '93 GT for a couple years and I'll tell ya, I had a boat load of fun in that car and surprised some people in it too. I believe they were under-rated some. The handling on the '93 was amazing, it had those Z rated "50s" on it and man, on/off ramps at 60 was absolutely no issue. They were fun cars.

Always wished they made a modern probe with a mustang ecoboost engine. That would be a hell of a car

A red '93 Probe GT was the car I learned to drive stick on, and despite it showing its 140k+ Texas highway commuting miles in little mechanical issues that would pop up here and there (including overheating on me a little a couple of times), it was a great little car. To this day I'm still annoyed that someone took a left in front of me unexpectedly and ended its useful life before its time, I wanted to keep it going a lot longer. Since then, though, every car I've owned I've had to seek out a stick shift on, despite that getting tougher and tougher to come by these days. I think my current Subaru may be the last daily driver with that transmission type that'll be available in my life; it's been a great run.

My '88 Celica revved the same way. Many weekend runs from Richmond to Baltimore & would routinely run 3.5K RPM at about 75 mph.

very cool. I loved these thing back then (and still do; you just don't see them anymore). I preferred the Corrado and the Prelude, but the MX6 Mystique and Probe were still pretty sweet.
    I had a mk3 Golf with a 2.0L 8v and a 5-speed (and a badly chipped reverse cog) back then.

My buddy had one of these back in high school in 2003 or so, funny thing is he still has it today but the engine is blown. He’s thinking about swapping in a 2.3 turbo from the mazdaspeed 3 and a 6 speed transaxle, which I can only imagine would be a riot to drive

some 93GTs didn’t have the pop up light button. also some didn’t have a separate fog light switch, the fogs would turn on once the parking brake lever was lowered down.
