    The viewing angle reminds me of being a kid in the backseat of of these trying to see around the seat and look at the road.

    I had an Alpine Green 97 GT during college and beyond.
    Loved that car.

    Very interesting. 96 with a 93-94 only EQ, so a power harness for the EQ had to be installed, and an early tape deck had to be found with the pre-amp out plug. The 6 wire one. 5 buttons on the dash, 93 only. Different controller for the headlights to get that to work, if it works, to pop up the lights. The oil pressure gauge and smooth steering wheel tells me it's a later year car. It's not a real gauge it only tells you that you have pressure or don't, so the needle doesn't move with rpm. Different sender and gauge cluster to make that one work. Which would not be a good mod to do because it would put a ??? on the odometer. Early steering wheels were perforated leather. It seems whoever owned this car before knew a lot about Probes.

      Yep! Previous owner put in the EQ. Head unit is from a Ford Thunderbird as it was previously equipped with the CD player and he wanted to play his own music. The buttons on the console are in order: "rear defrost", "front foglights", "rear foglight, so I only have (1) reverse light now", "power antenna" and one marked "BLUETOOTH" which I have no idea what it does lol.
      The previous owner was very lectured in probes and had all the literature including shop manuals and Ford vacuum diagrams. Problem is, a lot of mechanicals were very neglected and it's taken me the better part of a year to get it sorted and still not 100% ! Very similar to my MX-3 so I'm not having the worst time so far lol!

    Just having my morning coffee and I saw ur new vid... good to see it out and rolling! ur mic and camera were fine brother, no problems..I gotta say, the ride looked Hard, like the suspension wasnt moving much at all and transmitting everything into the cabin..I think thats probably too stiff for my taste cuz the gf would Never go for a ride with me anymore if it rode that hard! LOL she thinks Mine is too stiff as it is! So ive got alittle info to share, I was curious what travel my strut had left when the cars weight was On the springs... I took a tape measure and checked distance from top spring mount to bottom spring mount ...it was 5".....then i grabbed an old front strut that was off the car and put the top mount on it and the rubber bump stop as well and extended it to 5" ..this was done without the spring in place... the purpose was to see then how much rod travel is left...Well mine had only about an inch of travel b4 it would hit the rubber stop!..I thought about urs with the 2 inch drop and wondered whether urs
    has Any travel left at all? it Could be that ur riding on the bump stops with no rod travel left.. that would explain the stiffness and the fact it doesnt roll in corners... easy to check..just lift up the protective boot and see if u have any rod travel or is it riding on the rubber stop..anyway, it made me think twice about going any lower with mine, most guys who do it used the tokico struts becuz they had more travel to work with..let me know what u find out... .. in ur next vid try to do a pull thru the gears, taking it to least 6 grand or more and winding out 1st 2nd and 3rd..want to see how urs pulls compared to mine which is a 94..our exhaust notes sound Very different

      Thanks! Yeah I don't think it's resting on the bump stops, but I'll take a trick out of my MTB play book.....zip tie on the shock rod. I'll drive around sometime this week and see hoe far each ziptie ends up the shaft. If it's at the top....well I've probably bottomed them out LOL.

    • @elkofcanada5003

      It's definetly still got travel I think, I think half the harsh ride can be attributed to the 9 year old rock hard tires too!

      @skip741x3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elkofcanada5003 thanks for checking! even an inch or inch and a half travel will do you fine..the stiff springs will keep the rod from bottoming out...It did look like a stiff ride though..mines much more relaxed over bad roads...I believe the Manzo spring rates are something like 350 lbs per inch on the front... i think stock is more like 165! thats a serious difference in stiffness!...as far as tires, not sure what pressure ur running but u can go down to 35psi to add more grip and soften the harshness if u want.. try and get some acceleration pulls like from a 5mph roll in 1st gear, then wind that baby out thru 2nd or 3rd...Im so tempted to do a channel myself so others could see my car as well.. would make it easier to share what i talking about but ive never done a youtube upload b4 and i dont own a cell phone or go pro camera.. I'd have to record with my tablet!

      @@skip741x3 Yep! I think nearly doubling the spring rate "may" have negatively affected the ride, but I don't think it's hitting the bump stops as a result. On one of my videos when I remove the strut assembly, both rear bump stops were DESTROYED, they were 100% hitting due to the blown rears....
      New tires next month, debating whether to go with firehawk indy 500's for pure grip or Cooper Zeon RS3 for 80% grip and a lot more tread life...

      @@elkofcanada5003 I checked mine when the car was sitting normally, suspension loaded..pulled the boot up to see how much rod was exposed... mine as barely 1 inch before the bumbstop.. I dont think we need much travel but on mine at least, if i dropped anymore,I'd be on the bumpstops...if you take the stops out, you gain more travel but the guys that do that end up with blown struts..

    My dad used to repo so many of these they were all junk because people would finance them, not care for them and with that being said not pay on them because it doesn’t drive but it’s their own fault.

    • @pgtmr2713

      A lot of them stopped running because of ignition failure. The cost of a replacement distributor back in the day would make your head spin. I was quoted $500. Had it done. The next day the replacement distributor turns out was bad. That was remanned part. Over $700 for a new one. 93-94 distributor prices. 95 + were cheaper less prone to fail. Now add that to whatever payment a person might have and they're tapped. It's tough keeping them running when you know what you're doing. The failure was caused by the electronics getting packed into the distributor plastic cracking, moisture getting in.

      Yeah the distributor issues were pretty bad. Seller gave me a 1996 distributor and the VRIS solenoids when I purchased thank goodness. AS well as the intake tubing.
