  • Yes I am back with more duelist done dirty in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. Honestly this might just become a recurring series. I know like the last vid some of these choices might be controversial but hopefully you take these opinions well and also provide your own examples in the comments that I might use in another video.

Queen from Vrains. Introduced as threat in Season 2, only to get jobbered in Season 3, and of all the cards she played just so happens to be among the worst LV monsters out there. Surprised King of SOL Tech never showed up after her absences.

Funny thing is thanks to the actual Allure Queen Support in Vrains Dark Lucius is now the worst lvl monster line. But yeah Sol Technologies were completely under utilized and Queen should likely be talked about in another video.

At some point, Yuzu MUST be directly addressed.
Given the love the first two shows get, Mai and Misawa certainly need to be touched on at some point.
As I can't really think of a moment were Aki suffers a _specific_ Dethroning moment...maybe examine her manga self?
Manjoume and Shingo are derided as constantly being jokes and jobbers. Maybe there's something there.

Yuzu in both anime and manga was completly bad made, omg! In the anime, they just give up into her being a duelist; in the manga, she didn't even duel and she was used as a sexual!ze object during the entire plot...

@@AliacadosDuelistasIf not for the manga, I might have called Aoi the most poorly mistreated/mishandled female character. That manga's weaksauce utilization and stupid coda pushed Yuzu's overall execution into a one-two punch that makes me wince every time I think about it.

Aki's initial presence in the manga is strong and impactful. She is portrayed as a capable duelist who isn't afraid to take on tough opponents. Her duel against Kiryu is a testament to her skill and tenacity, as she gives her all despite ultimately losing. This duel showcases her ability to hold her own against formidable opponents, emphasizing her competence as a duelist.
Aki's role in the manga is integral to the narrative, and her actions have a significant impact on the plot. Her duels and interactions with other characters drive the story forward, keeping her at the center of the action. This is a notable improvement over the anime, where her contributions become minimal in the latter half, reducing her to a secondary character.

One instance of "done dirty" in Yu-Gi-Oh that I don't see enough people talking about is Michio and Teppei from Arc-V.
Their deaths against the Obelisk Force served 0 purpose since we already established that they were a dangerous threat after they decimated the Youth Duelists.
They joined the Battle Royal with the other Junior Youth duelists only for them to deal some effect damage and be instantly carded afterwards with the most bs effect damage counter from the Obelisk Force.
It feels like the writers just wanted to kill off any joke characters so they didn't have to add them to the Lancers. But unlike the other Junior Youth duelists who were carded, Michio and Teppei had so much more to their characters than their gimmicks. They also had a very fun and interesting dynamic between them that was very enjoyable to watch.
I know almost no one else in the Yu-Gi-Oh community talks about them, but I really wish they survived longer and at least made it to the Synchro Dimension. They were my favorite side characters in the entirety of Arc-V.

In my opinion, bassically every character in Arc V that isnt name Yuya and Akaba Reiji was wasted, example Aster Phoenix while got a more Meta Deck, they lost what made his deck be Destiny Heroes, his GX deck in fact has a destine theme, Jaiden vs Aster was a clash on character believes, and eventually to show how its in fact possible to overcome destine and how its not defined, and in Arc V it just: Attack Change = you screwed, WHERE DESTINY IN THAT?
Also Yuzu, Celina, Rin and the other girl that i cant remember the name because that one dint have enough presence in the show for me to remember her name. Outside of Yuzu who has a good suport character at bare minimum, and Celina at least had presence in the anime.
Also i know that this video has showing the character that had the worst losses, but i still right about their being done dirty by the anime.

The only one I'd have to debate with you on is Kaiba vs Yugi. It's not so much that it was JUST about Kaiba willing to risk his life to save mokuba. Season 0 and even the anime start make it clear Kaiba is a very prideful and high ego Competitor and Person, its how he foils Yugi.
Risking it all in the middle of a battle in a game more important to him than a lot of things(even mokuba in the Season 0 arc) showed not only how much he changed and reclaimed himself but how much of his old identity he lost becuz of the Mind Crush. And Both Yugis and Kaiba all learn something from this, and its part of the reason Kaiba doubles down so hard in BC to have his big rematch with Yugi. It's why Tea's speech hits him hard.
and quick thing, Yugi's trauma'd a bit because in the old arcs its very implied Yugi's basically blacked out when Pharoah takes control and barely knew what happened. Its not until near Yami Bakura(manga) and Yami Bakura duel (anime) that he thinks/confirms he has a totally different person inside him. It can be brutal know someone whose PART OF YOU is willing to forgo your morals, even with good intentions, to KILL someone whose backed into a corner.
You probably wont read all of this, but hey I just wanted to get it out there. Good video regardless.

And they say that Female Duelists became dirty. They clearly don't know that Male Duelists also became dirty and left more impact (usually negative)
I propose Bohman (VRAINS) as another "Duelist Done Dirty". Especially when his credibility as the Final Villain in Season 2 collapses when he is defeated multiple times against Playmaker. It gets worse when Bohman kept using his same Deck in every match: not alternate Decks, but the Deck that symbolizes him as a big threat (and still loses). Haru would also be included here since he is a Duelist who, beforehand, was said to be weak and would lose the Duel (against Aoi)
Others I propose for "Duelist Done Dirty" are Shun (Arc-V), whose credibility as a Duelist was lost when Crow appeared (and he started losing in a row), Ghost Girl (VRAINS), whose only win is against a Joke Character and she had a Top Deck, and Sabyuas (GO RUSH) who, out of all the Darkmen, I think has had the worst reputation tainted as a Duelist (especially in his Duels against Yuhi and Epoch)

Nobody's saying that menfolk can't be done dirty, just that it's a consistent and painful problem that it ALWAYS happened to women. To be fair, I think Joey only got as far as he did because Marik and Odion held back against him, not recognizing him as a threat. Granted, he did prove that he was in the end, but I don’t think Joey would have beaten Marik if he took him seriously. Losing to Zigfried didn’t hurt as bad given he had already gotten a big win against Grandpa Muto, and Zigfried was being setup as a rival to Kaiba so it kinda makes sense he’d beat Joey.
Yusei absolutely should have lost to Antinomy. That was literally the PERFECT time for Yusei to take an L that wouldn’t endanger his life or the world.
I don’t know if you mentioned it in the previous video, but Kaiba got done dirty against Noah. If Noah didn’t use Mokuba as a shield, he would have lost to Kaiba definitively. But it’s another moment of Yugi having to save the day as always.

This won't be as much as characters who got done dirty but duels that got dirty, here's the list in my opinion
Yuri vs Yugo and the fuckalls Aster and Kite: one of the most hyped duels in arc v got interrupted by those bozos and worst part, those guys managed to be a hindrance to Yugo, you know, the guy who could help them, had they not interviened or even helped Yuri, Zarc itself could happen way later or not happen at all, they really destroyed everything both lore and duel wise
Yuma vs Vector on Sargasso: This duel i would love if ended differently, i would actually like if Vector won the duel or at least got an implied win and you might say that being killed by a number user would kill him to which i say that when a Yuma won, Kite and Shark where teleported back, so, we could have Shark or Kite win and then we could have an rematch because Zexal transformation of a card into another really pisses me
Bastion vs Chazz: Bastion was an already declining character desperate for attention however in the Society of Light he decides to storm the Obelisk White dorm and fight Sartorius but ends up fighting Chazz and he ultimely gives up in the duel, this duel ultimately feels to me empty story wise because thinking about it, even if Bastion wins the dorm people are still brainwashed and under Sartorius spell and the endgame doesn't change, it would be better if Bastion actually won and saw that his actions didn't really impacted that much and Jaden come and say: "Relax bud, you got a small win, we must take every win to defeat Sartorius" and this could still be the catalyst for Chazz dump the Ojamas or Bastion losing seriously would make him feel at least like he went down fighting honorably
Yuri vs Yuzu: the issue about those duels listed before is wasted potential or opportunities, however this "duel" has both, Yuri just chases Yuzu off and Yuzu doesn't even attempt to duel him

Fort Kaiba versus Yugi there is a legitimate reason Kaiba to not get a “ unsatisfied win” part of his obsession is actually wanting to defeat Yugi so giving him a win against him what kind of already satisfy that part of his character arc before battle city in which it gets cranked up to 11
So basically Walt it hurts his credibility it is technically for his own character.

    • @ventusace9054
      @ventusace9054  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I get what you are saying but this is fiction you can create motivations for characters, so even if Kaiba got a clean win over Yugi it is possible for Kaiba's new goal is to now defeat Yugi on a grand stage in front of the world and be acknowledged as the King of Games since despite beating Yugi at Duelist Kingdom it is overall Yugi who is the champion of the game and acknowledged and not Kaiba despite knowing he bested Yugi and wants to prove that to the world. He can also still have an inferiority complex thinking that since Yugi beat Pegasus doing something he failed to do and feels surpassed right after beating Yugi. If you say well this happened for this to happen then sure, but what I am saying is things didn't need to be the way it was and can still lead to the same conclusion of Kaiba starting battle city and still having a desire to beat Yugi while still being able to get his well deserved win over Yugi at Duelist Kingdom.

Yes Kaiba did draw monster reborn but if you watch the episode you would remember the revived Blue-Eyes head was not able to attack the turn it was summoned, so even after reviving Blue-Eyes he couldn't use it to finish Yugi that turn and was only able to get the opportunity to attack and beat Yami because Yami's final attack was stopped by Yugi.

I’m sorry, but I refuse to count Revolver vs. Lightning as a win for Lightning. In my eyes, he got a loss-by-DQ after he outright broke the rules by generating extra LP to survive his own burn combo. And I’m not alone in thinking this way. In the Vrains story mode in Legacy of the Duelist, you fight Lightning as Revolver instead of the other way around.
Edit; This is one of the very few times (at least in Vrains) where I think the dub is better than the sub. In the dub, Lightning generates his extra 1 LP not to steal the win from Revolver but instead as a means to cheat death after he had already lost. For context, Lightning generates exactly enough LP to survive with only 1 BEFORE taking the fatal damage in the sub, but only generates exactly 1 LP AFTER he takes the damage in the dub. Then, instead of Lightning offering Bohman the chance to absorb him, Lightning begs Bohman to save him, but Bohman refuses, giving Lightning an ultimatum for his many acts of treachery; die an excruciatingly painful death or be absorbed into Bohman to better their chances at Lightning’s plan succeeding, with Lightning resigning his fate to the latter.

Your point on Revolver being done dirty makes me think that, inversely, Lightning was the one done dirty here. You set up a character that is so personal to Yusaku, being the captor to Jin, and Yusaku doesnt get to duel him? Jin’s wellbeing is a huge motivator to Playmaker and Kusanagi’s journey; you would think they wouldve dueled. Revolver shouldve lost, Playmaker shouldve subsequently beat Lightning, and then Bohman absorbs Lightning after.
    Revolver should’ve lost

I definitely get your point and agree but there is also a strong case that Revolver should have won as well. Lightning is a representation of the faults of Revolver's father and everything his father feared that the Ignis would become. Revolver being the one to put down lighting and saving Jin from Lightning's grasp would have been a step in righting the wrongs of his father's past by destroying his rampaging creation and rescuing the life of someone who his father had a hand in ruining. Instead of Playmaker getting all the major plot relevant wins at the end of the arc it would have been nice and poetic for Revolver to close the door on his father's past himself, but that is my opinion on the matter.

his credibility would be laughed out the window before he lost.
Rule of thumb for making villains seem threatening don’t have them needing handy cab to beat the non-main characters unless the character is stronger than the main character

Zigfried is a filler arc villain that didn't even serve as the final boss of the arc, who loses his very next duel to Kaiba anyway and beating Joey with a make shift deck would not hurt his credibility since he still would have won against one of the strongest duelist in the world. Losing to that deck would have hurt his credibility, which is why I never suggest Joey beat Zigfried with it. I understand wanting your villain to look strong but if I had the put on the line Zigfried's credibility or Joey's credibility to up hold then I am choosing Joey's instead. As long as Leon still looked strong on his way up to challenging Yugi then the proper character was pushed correctly for the final duel of the arc.

@@ventusace9054 Ziegfried is the European Champion, Joey's a twice also-ran with a bullseye on his back. Also, Joey just got to show off hpw much he'd grown in his previous duel against his mentor, he can stumble every once in a while.

@@ventusace9054 OK well I also like Joey more then Zigfried ,
but I’m gonna have to disagree with thinking it’s OK for zigfried to be a joke before losing with credibility Beforehand.
What I personally think she could happen is keep it the same but give Joey another duel to effectively prove his competence again in the same ark
basically like The pharaoh and Rafael. Pharaoh beginning to lose his credibility by losing to Rafael, WITH THE OP CARD against a monster he unintentionally boost it being one shot (honestly it is the biggest example of being done dirty) but getting your credibility back in a rematch
Maybe Joey could rematch zigfried later in the ark, maybe Ends up having to face against someone stated to be better than zigfried.
Because the problem is never getting done dirty, it’s never getting to rise back up afterwards

@empireyouth5791 You say you don't agree with Zigfried being a joke but why would he be a Joke with what I proposed? It's not like I said Joey should be at him with a make shift deck. That would hurt his credibility. All I proposed was a way to beat Joey without making Joey look like a fool in his final duel. The truth is that Zigfried is a nothing character in a non-canon filler arc. His preservation overall takes less precedence than Joey but I think he does need credibility so beating Joey who is still skillful will show that and it gives Joey an out for his loss. Duke beat Joey without using his own deck and nobody said "That guy is a loser" It showed that Duke can still compete with a top class player, but at the same time it didn't make Joey look weak since people can say maybe things could have been different if he used his actual deck. Whether that is true or not is a different story but regardless Joey saves face from the match.
What you proposed was a good idea, but the problem is it didn't happen. Joey never claimed back his win the way Yami did against Raphael and the series ended with Joey being beat clean by a non-canon character in a non-canon arc that could be skipped. Not to mention Zigfried is the mastermind not the final boss of the arc. If he is not looked at as strong that is not terrible because the true final boss duelist is Leon and as long as Leon looks good the arc ends in fine fashion with Yugi taking on a strong opponent.
So yes it is being done dirty to have a character that has been in over 200 episodes of the series and gather accolade through our his time in the series just to have him loose to a filler character that loses his next duel. That is the definition of being done dirty for the man's legacy. This will always be known as the final duel of Joey in the anime and that is a rough way to go out.

I don’t think Joey was done dirty against Zigfried, he lost by luck and after every time luck had been on his side, it simply wasn’t that time.
