also the GT's with foglights are extremely hard on headlight switches due to current, A nice trick is to use the factory foglight wire to trigger a relay that powers the foglights to cut the amp draw through the switch
I was going to ask if BREW2L has done a video on the foglight issue and potential fixes. I have this problem on my 87 GT, and have burned up a number of switches over the years. I know there are some fixes that people have done to alleviate the problem of too much current going through the wiring. Would switching to LED's in the fogs and headlights fix this issue without having to rewire or do any of the fixes that people have come up with for this problem? I like to run my foglights, as I think it's a good look on my GT.
I appreciate your video. I'm going to tear into my cluster soon. I do want to put LED bulbs in the blinkers for Mustang Sally as she is a vertie and for 31 years I have driven hundreds of miles with the blinker on because I couldn't see the indicator light in bright sunlight. LOL. My gas guage only works when it's on empty. It was in storage for 13 years. It's rough on the fuel pump to run it low on gas. The gas helps cool the pump while it's running. I've been told that if you run it out of gas, it take a year off the life of the fuel pump. I think it's the fuel pump, but I'll check it all out. Thanks for posting.

Always check the dimmer switch. I had a corrosion on the contact ring on one of mine and it ended up spiking voltage. That fried a few parts in the dash harness of my 88. Its not fun replacing this old wiring!
some LED lights have polarity with + and - and you need to make sure you install them as such. You can trace the proper side on the circuit board or test them with the cluster not installed but with the electric connectors hooked up and the light switch turned on, Also do not replace the low voltage ight with an LED as it does not have enough resistance.
