Most of the time MAF is the issue, give it a clean with a special electronics can cleaner and you'll be good, but some times mustang can have a lot of random issues including misfires from the plugs, also speaking of spark plugs make sure the cables are routed good and when I say routed good, just make sure cables don't touch any hot metal surface and don't let them touch each other.
Last year I fixed an issue to a friend's sn95 it was backfiring too bad, so I noticed the cables of the right head were hanging all together right behind the alternator, so I separated with 4 ties and took em away form behind the alternator, and the idle changed completely and of course the mustang turned into a beast instantly 💪🏻😎

Myself and others (I'm certian), super enjoy vids like this, make no mistake, this vid.. has helped me already feel better about Mustang shopping.
As matter of fact, if u ever have the chance, maybe add some content about new fox body shopping. What to avoid, what to look for.
I've been in the market for maybe a month, I haven't purchased many cars at all, so any inside tips are welcomed.
Another reason I stumbled on your channel.
    Thanks.

Ive been involved with these cars for the last 30 years, its ALWAYS a 50 cent part that goes out on these cars, you only realize that after you have spent 500 on parts, lol, funny thing, back in the day we never called them Foxbodies,Five Ohs were their main name, here recently i installed a brand new 347 on my 91,it was running like crap, driving me crazy and testing my patience, turned out the brand new regulator i had put on it i guess had been sitting on the shelf for a few years and it was stuck inside (the gauge indicated pressure was fine) took a vaccum pump to it and i guess that loosened it up, runs like a charm now.
Several years ago on my 89, it would die with no warning all the time, when i would hit the brakes and i was listening to the radio it would cut out completely, about a month thru this ordeal i was working on it afterhours at my work and this guy was walking by and said "hey man, you car was arcing when you were trying to start it,i was like where?? back around the driver side of the engine he said, took a look and that ground strap that goes from the body to the head was green with verdigris and gunk,50 cents for a ground strap later and the car ran like a Rolex.
I have worked on many cars and i have seen ground straps hanging loose dragging on the ground and the car had zero problems, these cars do not like broken ground straps AT ALL, also always check your hoses, vacuum leaks are the bane of the cars also,on both of my cars i have clamps everywhere and i mean everywhere, like you say,its always something simple.

Man I ain’t going to lie I thought I was had a bad injector miss/ or fuel pump not working properly/ or clogged fuel filter.. etc.. turns out before I did any diagnosing on any of that I try to easy/dumb shi* first.. so I took off my K&N filter and held it to the sun and I couldn’t see no light😳. So I took it off and fired it up sounded different hit a lot quiker.. felt like I gained 20hp especially on the big end. My air/fuel ratio was ideal/rich.. and before it was barely ideal. That was an easy fix always do the easiest things first when troubleshooting.. time to invest in some K&N cleaner.. but I might steel Rodney’s/( 50tussin ) trick and run a boom tub out of the head light when I go to the track.. 💪🏻

Wasn’t worth going to jail. Now I make sure to have title and keys in hand. Sometimes they get a little pissed when I fire it up and drive it off. Funniest one I did most recently was a 96’ v8 thunderbird. Stupid clean car inside and out, they wanted $400 cause it “needed a trans”. Bought it, came back with 5qts of trans fluid and drove it home and put a seal in the trans, they had let it sit for a long time and leaked most of the trans fluid out and when they tried to move it wouldn’t go in gear so they just posted it up with a bad trans.

I had different luck, four months ago, when I got a great deal on a 91 5.0L T-Bird LX that was super clean (odometer gears were broken so it had unknown mileage). Older guy in his mid 70’s was selling it.
All it needed was a power steering pump, passenger window regulator, right rear cv/axle and differential carrier bushings.
Paid $1,500 and then a week later I’m discussing upgrading the parts in the AOD at my buddies transmission shop. Why? 4th gear went out. There goes another $900😩

The vacuum on the intake that you closed off with a bolt and rubber I believe connects to the plastic and rubber vacuum line you saw found on the back on the passenger side probably connects to the vacuum nipple on the back of the driver side of the intake you should connect them two together and see how it runs

The port on the throttle body needs to be connected to the port on the oil filler neck. Otherwise it's pulling in un-metered air

I've got a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer. About 3 months ago a vacuum hose popped off under my intake. I blocked it off and started running good again. I don't hear it sucking anymore but I'm not sure what I blocked.

Great info. I purchased a crusty 93 Fobra a month or so back and this kind of info is super helpful. It's a strong running car although I'm trying to figure out why it goes lean (10-12 afr) for the first minute or so after you start it and then it goes stoic and stays nearly perfect. I'm guessing something to do with open/closed loop? I was told it needs one of the O2 sensors replaced but other than the momentary lean spell it seems great. I know nothing about the bottom end, but it has your typical B or E cam with GT40 heads, 1.7 Crane rockers and Explorer intake. Still running 19's with a matched aftermarket MAF. It was tuned by a reputable shop with a new ECM and SCT chip last November. Would the O2 sensor cause the momentary lean after startup?

Does it have a custom tune? 14.7 isn’t bad at idle. I run mine around 14-15 at idle

@@BREW2LFOXBODY Yes, the tune is custom. I can't remember all of the parameters that were adjusted without looking at the paperwork, but it's more than a "boxed tune". The AFR is almost perfect other than it goes lean for a minute or two after startup. It will pop once or twice lightly if you accelerate during that time. (Mild acceleration, not hard or WOT) After a minute or two it goes back to 14-15 and runs great. I bought the car with the tuning already done. Ultimately I think I will get the O2 sensor replaced and see if they can go over the tune again.

I haven’t watched the full video but it was probably needing tuned

Cause if he took the supercharger off it was probably tuned to handle that and without it, it doesn’t function very well
