I highly recommend a slip on of your choice +power commander, air filter and while your at it a oberon clutch slave cylinder. One last thing is confirm your countershaft nut is torqued to spec (100nm)
You are gonna love it! I def do recommend a slip on and a SEAT! Stock exhaust is heavy and UGLY and stock seat is more like a BOARD with very little padding lol but you r gonna love it
I bought a 22 690 SMC R in Feb and I absolutely love it!!! I was away from bikes for a few years and started looking into getting back on a bike this year and after lots and lots of research on what to get I decided on this beauty!
Thinking of upgrading my fully modded 390 Duke scrambler to the SMC R at the moment. I really love the Duke, such a fun light bike to ride but it’s missing a little bit of power for me. How do they compare for riding twisties and small countryside lanes? Thanks
I agree with everything. I have 690 smc r the same year. My first bike and i love freedom and fun. How you mounted your mirrors? Do you drilled shinyo mirrors to 8mm holes or you used thread inserts? - Where you find them? I ask becasuse it looks very good :)
Thanks! I think the bike is still manageable for someone who is starting out but there are also bikes that are better suited for a beginner. If you can trust yourself to be careful it’s not a problem because you have very good control over the speed and the bike in general. If you tend to be very risky then perhaps starting on a less powerful bike would make more sense. Ride safe! And let me know what bike you decide on.
@@bklf202 thanks for the info, i also got a ktm 450 exc on my eye because of my friends, what do you think about that bike? is that a safe not to powerfull bike for a beginner?
@@Mcstrijdertje I think it is probably a little safer than the 690. Less horsepower less weight more control. I started on an (open/unlimited) exc 125 when I was 16, which is quite similar and I had no problems. Just be easy on the throttle, they like to wheelie very quickly. :) good luck man!
If u bouncing between 450-690 for 1st bike ever. Go 690. The 450 is light and more power which equals get yourself in trouble WAY FASTER. Plus the 690 has the TC and rider modes ABS.. if u leave her in mode 1 till u comfy on her you will b a little safer. It won't let u wheelie and has full TC and AbS in mode 1
@@bklf202 i mean its just a thumper similar to a wrf or an older 525exc. You can do the same things with older bikes in sub 4k range than paying a fortune for this. Its efi looks cool and fresh but it doesnt justify the price.
Converting an EXC or any other motocross / enduro bike is def more expensive and more high end. I would say it’s a good entry point from that perspective but also because it’s still a little more versatile than those supermotos and allows newcomers to get used to the good and bad of supermotos
Hi! I have a video coming out next Wednesday where I will cover all the mods on my bike and leave links in the description. So hope you can wait till then :P
Damn you are taking this personal. This a video about why the bike is great and of course it’s my personal opinion. To me a supermoto feels like a toy because it can be a jack of all traits. I think that is reasonable. Of course you don’t have to agree though. Yet, did you have a bad day or why the hate for someone loving the same sport?
I will be getting my 2022 690 SMC R in a few days, been waiting for it for 8months lol
I’ll finally join the gang 🤘🏻
Welcome aboard! Finally!!!

Why 8 months? That's ridiculous
Hell by the time you get it.. it will be old! Lol

It actually went down exactly like this for me as well :) what a good choice. no regrets.
Nice outtro too!! 🤙🏻
Thanks! 😁
Out all my motorcycles 22mt07,duke390,z125,drz400sm, I stay on my 19 ktm 690 smc r [wings, fueldongle,kn air filter, pcV = ripper fun]
It’s nice to have a choice but I can understand why your number 1 choice is the 690 :p Especially with those mods! Nice 👍

Video on mods and the mirrors is coming on Wednesday! Did not have to do any drilling :) Totally agree it is pure freedom!
I have the 690 Duke. And I've been riding motorbikes since -83. And I bought the Duke on the spot after a testride! It's sooo goood!
That is great to hear @John Neomaster. KTMs LC4 engines have seen a lot of development over the years and it shows :) congrats on the new ride!
Great video man! one question about the bike, do you think this bike is too much power for someone that starts riding bikes for the first timer ever?

Amazing!

the smc is a good bike but its very expensive. even the older used 08 models.
true! to me it's totally worth it though but that depends on the rider

It’s a supermoto entry point? It’s the most high end supermoto

haha good bike for attwhoring, dude this make me laugh.
really you feel right on this bike with 1,91meters?
waiting for the 23 model, hopefully it has gear indicator
true would be nice but even the new GasGas 700 does not have it so I feel like they just don't really care but who knows!
2021 model has a gear indicator in Australia.
@@prezo1975 wow really? that's awesome
2022 690 SMC R has gear position indicator in South Africa
pretty sure '21 701 has it
NOT a beginner bike
Limited for A2 I think it really can be
I bought a 2023 ktm 690 r. And is the worst bike ever. Save money don t buy it
Care to explain why it’s the worst bike? You didn’t test ride it?
Elaborate more on it please
You have no idea what your talking about. It is a fantastic bike not a toy. You are out to lunch
