  • Understanding Palestine in 10 Questions | Between the Lines with Palki Sharma
    The story of Palestine is not a new one. It's been written and told multiple times over the last few decades.
    But what about the Palestine of today? Where is it? Who rules it? And what do Palestinians want.
    Palki Sharma explores the complex history and current issues of Palestine as we answer 10 fundamental questions about the conflict on Between the Lines.

      Where did the Palestinian people migrated from? We know from history that the land was first occupied by the Jews and had David and Solomon as their kings. At the time these kings reigned, where where the Palestinian people?

      Since when is it okay for a group of people of a certain religion to sit together and decide that they need a country for their own religion and that it is okay to try to forcefully take the land of another country? Christians are of Abrahamic faith too. There are many religions in this world who are not going around looking for a country for their "religion". What the people of Israel has done since the beginning is oppression. How would you feel if someone one day showed up to your house and ask you to leave your home because they have a right to your home, which you built with your hard earned money? That is injustice. Homes of Palestinians have been getting taken away from them in this way for the Israeli "settlers".

      In 1948, Jordan took control of the West Bank and Egypt took control of the Gaza Strip, leaving the Palestinians with no land in which to declare a nation (and the Palestinians did not declare any desire to form a state when occupied by these nations). The other Arab countries were more than happy to expand their nations at the expense of an independent Palestine. BTW, except for Jordan no Palestinian refugees have been given citizenship status in other Arab countries (for over 75 years). These actions imply that the other Arab nations have no real loyalty to Palestine and use it as a political ploy only for internal political reasons.

    Palestinian envoy to India said that india is a country which sent aid without asking after opening of Rafa crossing ! Let me assure the world no country can beat India's unconditional helping record to each devloping and vulnerable nation ! We have suffered that phase when rich western countries mocked us after looting for centuries, who tried their best to keep us poor , and dependent but time has changed ! We will always be there for anyone unconditionally who is needy ! We helped Ukraine despite they abuse Indian students, we helped turkey during earthquake despite their hostile foreign policy towards india , we helped hundreds of countries by donating them vaccine despite a population of 1.5 billion when western countries were hoarding vaccines , we helped Nepal during earthquake despite their unprecedented rude behaviour towards india, we helped each neighbouring countries who was in problem, we helped indian Ocean nations during when they faced storms and climate disasters ! When India moves ahead it goes ahead with its brothers ! We believe earth is one family and one day education will prevail , people will leave race , colour, religion, caste behind and will March towards future as a human and this is something which makes us different from animals and people will understand this message of india !!

The content of the reporting is truly awe-inspiring, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. The dedication, talent and hard work poured into the narrative are greatly appreciated by many, she is the true hero in our story. Additionally, the Union Public Service Commission has delivered a remarkable report titled संघ लोक सेवा आयोग *How Britishers killed 1.8 billion Indians. Chronology of British Raj's exploitative policies* | UPSC," which is equally astounding. The commission consistently produces insightful and thought-provoking articles of the utmost caliber, and I sincerely hope they continue to produce such interesting exceptional work. As an expert on Indians behavior and nesting habits, Indians have a pattern of not ever resisting the invaders; rather, the invaders departed themselves after a while, like the British and many others, when there were no more resources to exploit, leaving behind a population of a billion Indians struggling with poverty and lacking in education, a situation no one wished to address.

    • @PraneeI
      @PraneeI 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The 45 trillion dollars that were taken mainly consist of natural resources. If you look at India's current mineral deposits, most are completely depleted (that's why India imports their minerals instead of producing them themselves; they have nothing left). The British forced Indians to mine and carry those minerals and resources to the sea port so they could be sent back to England every single day for 200 years. The U.S. and U.K. infrastructure was pretty much built from not only India's natural minerals but also India's blood, sweat, and even lives (countless Indians died working in the mines all day with less than a portion of grain in their stomachs).

    • @PraneeI
      @PraneeI 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      1.8 Billion makes sense. India today on average loses 10 million people per year due to natural cause or illness. So in 200 years they would lose 10million x 200 years = 2 billion people. Imagine 1757 - 1947 times when India didn't have any healthcare like today and life expectancy was much much shorter with mass malnourish (Bengal Famine + 63 other major famines) and were forced to work to their very bones losing their lives in the process.

    I like your journalism. Short and informative. My questions: How the Palestinians can be considered one nation when they are governed by two bodies? ( Automatically their first goal is diminishing). Are the Palestinians capable of creating a peaceful nation in the region when they strive for creating a state based on religious legitimacy? How capable are the Palestinians on governing their people when they strike their neighbours, the nation of Jewish people being all over the world and who contribute in changing the face of the earth by promoting humanitarianism, peace, literacy, trade, combatting famine and illnesses? Does the Israel nation receives this chance in this particular moment?

    • @walaaawad8833
      @walaaawad8833 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      As a Palestinian, I can respond:
      We are one nation, still we follow sam rules and system. Both governments follow same constitution.
      Also we don’t starve to creat a state passed on religious legitimacy, Palestine is not an Islamic country, as it contains Christianity & Jews too, also we have atheists.
      We tried to work for peace for decades, but never work, as Israeli expanding never stoped. Also living Apartheid is very hard!
      We have no problem with Jews, the issue is with Zionist, who immigrants from Europe and America, to replace Palestinians.
      imagine soldiers come to your house and kick you out of it, if your refused they’ll kill your kids, and if you resist, they call you terrorist!
      You can’t use the water, electricity, schools , or even streets as normal human because you are not a Jew!
      How would you feel?
      Does we want peace? Yes of course, but we believe that peace will come with JUSTICE and equality.

    The name Palestine comes from the Hebrew word "Peleshtine," meaning "invader" and refers to what the English bible calls the Philistines. They were the enemies of the Jews around 1000-650 BC until they were wiped out of history by the Assyrians. Centuries later, the Roman Emperor Hadrien, tired of all the Jewish rebellions, changed the names of all places in Judea from Hebrew ones to Roman ones. He wanted to wipe out all traces of the Jews. Judea was changed to Palestina (Land of the Peleshtine) as an insult to the Jews. The name stayed on the map for Christians as a heirloom of the Roman culture.
    When the Turkish empire fell, it ceded its lands in the Middle East to the League of Nations (the precursor to the UN). It was then that England and France drew lines on a map and created Lebanon, Syria, Iraq [?], Palestine and later Jordan. The British was handed by the League of Nations a mandate to help foster a homeland for the Jews. They called it the British Mandate for Palestine. That's how the name Palestine was introduced into the 20th century.
    During the Mandate, the Jews enthusiastically adopted the name Palestinian and used it to name many of their institutions. They carried Palestinian passports. The Arabs, meanwhile, expressed their hatred for the name, claiming that it was "alien to the Arabs" and offensively Jewish. About 30 years later the Arabs self-identified as The Palestinian People. So, the name is yet another Arab hoax. However, the Arabs are calling themselves "invaders" which is grimly amusing.

    First THANK YOU for further trying to lift the fog off of our efforts at gaining something approximating UNDERSTANDING. I have never visited the Middle East and know no Israelis or Palestinians. I am a 68 year old American retiree who revels in observing world events and educating myself on such matters. In all sincerity, I can argue only that the SOLE predilection Palestinians have EVER consistently demonstrated is a propensity for CHAOS and to blame that chaos on everyone but themselves! Thats IT.
    Israel and Israelis, on the other hand, have taken what we call "SCRUB LAND" and fashioned it into a sound, productive nation, constantly surprising the larger world with its genius, its tenacity, its productivity. Where lies common ground between these two?

      Unfortunately the truth is very deferent, Palestine had airports, best universities and theatres, before Israel exist.
      Palestinians are very educated people. If you think Isreal is developed, that because the US money. And if you think Palestine is An uncivilized country that because isreal keep bombards it.
      Israel has committed genocide against 520 Palestinians.

    Brilliant and informative once again. If Palki Ma'am writes a book on the Israel-Palestine story, I'll rush to the bookstore before the copies run out. Yes, Palestine is a long story dating back to Moses, Jesus, and Prophet Mohammad. From 1948 till today, I guess the hatred between Israel and Hamas has grown deeper in the deep blue sea. Now asking them to make peace is like asking a snake to kiss and makeup with the mongoose. It's a trigger happy region that sees peace in pressing the trigger.

    In a nutshell I think this unending conflicts is emanating from religious. Jerusalem. For peace to reign in that region is very difficult because of the way many people are committed to their beliefs.
    The big question is, who owns Jerusalem and who would have it in the end? Who would let go of Jerusalem for peace to reign? Can they live together in Jerusalem in Peace?
