It's possible to get some shine on 4C hair, with some oils like argan oil, but it will still be subtle. It's simply the texture of our hair that doesn't reflect light, unrelated to moisture like you said. Obviously, product build up make the hair look very ashy, so a good shampoo is important to avoid dull looking hair. Another way to have hair looking shinier is to play with color: darker colors often look shinier.
It's just as important to pay attention to what we are doing for our bodies internally. Drinking enough water and having a healthy diet can help with our hair.
Loved the video. My hair is also 4c and I wish it was more like 4a but hey it is what it is. And the stage that I’m at right now is trying what will work to help seal in moisture because as you know 4c hair tends to be dryer than some of the other textures
I hve 3b/3c hair but still hve to watch my girl but honestly it’s basically the same I wear my silk 🧣 and I love creams and oils. Girl that tip about the pillow case I agree I do love the idea of the of the pillow case but I agree that I could break u out because it started happening to me and I went back to my silk 🧣.
I discovered deep conditioning and protein treatments, then using Hask Keratin shampoo helped me. I tried coconut oil mixed with my conditioners, is helping. I use a leave in conditioner by As I am, a hair treatment by Shea Moisture, then I use my curl cream and my pink gel...cant think of the name
Notification Squad!!🙋🏾♀️💞 Yesss I needed this cause your Girl is Struggling with it looking Dry but feels Moisturized after two day's after wash day. Thank's for this. I have low luster hair you are the Best!!💞💞💞
I use the aussie curl deep conditioner love it and i love Aussie 3 min smooth DC aloe n sea kelp love that one n the original one 3 min moist DC avocado n jojoba oil my top 3 lol
A few of these tips really helped me. My hair loves jojoba and almond oils but I don’t use them as much. I need to go back to using them. The health of my hair was drastically different.
I have that same bonnet! I have a silk scarf that I would normally use but I wanted to get a bonnet because I find it easier to put on and I picked up that one at the store. I didn’t feel like “satin” at all and it was so rough
@@biblepool6313 I was just checking my TH-cam recommendations. I figured out why I've never seen her in a woolly hat or scarf. She lives in or near Memphis Tennesee. The climate there is defined as humid subtropical. If you live in a desert climate or in a temperate cold climate with central heating that will dry out your hair. I live in London England UK 🇬🇧. The water is very hard. The city is polluted and I swim in a chlorinated pool. The climate here is described as a temperate oceanic climate. The wind here is unreal and will whip you hair around in the air and get tangled in the winter. The heating will also dry out you hair. Even plants and a humidifier do not help. So I moisturise my hair twice morning and evening and keep it flat twisted wrapped in a silk or satin scarf all winter and part of autumn and spring. In the summer, my hair is less dry and when I go on a tropical or subtropical holiday my hair is in love. Being black, think our hair is designed for the African continent, so thrives anywhere with a tropical or subtropical climate, no pollution and no hard water. I have white friends in the tropics and they all cut their hair because it hangs down and sticks to the back of their neck in the heat and their scalp gets sunburnt. Ugh. Afro hair sticks up, keeps our head cool and is dense enough to protect our scalp from sunburn. I still wear a hat though in the sun.
Chalsey Wilder my hair just recently went through a severe state of dehydration. I backtracked and realized I’d started applying more gel. I realized I was applying too much gel, now I don’t use any at all, it gives me too much of a cast (but I do wash my hair every 2 days so I don’t need much of a cast). Another thing I’ve been doing is taking Eden naturals aloe Vera gel, oil (my fav is olive oil), and a small amount of water, mixing that in a spray bottle and spritzing a medium amount of that on my hair in the morning. Then I put on a shower cap (with an intentional hole in it) hop in there shower, and bam, refreshed hydrated curls.
Chalsey Wilder are you sure? I used to think my hair hated aloe too but just recently I tried that mixture. I only use it on dry hair, and I don’t saturate my hair with it, I just dampen it
@@chalseywilder937 Dang I have the same problem with the things that are holy grail for others. My hair hates coconut oil and aloe vera juice/gel. I'm also finding that putting raw oils on my hair creates the straw feeling. My hair does better with homemade creams that are mango butter based (not shea butter) and I mix in some distilled water and a little grapeseed oil. I still have to moisturize often, but maybe not every single day. I have found that I have to do so much trial and error to figure out what my hair likes and hates.

I buy my silk/satin from a frabic store. It's much cheaper (and real) there.
Where have you been hiding?? Another 4C beauty!!!
This makeup is a whole look😊😊

Love the tip about having a "real satin/silk scarf." Thank you for sharing where you purchased yours!
I learned some oils like jojoba oil combined with olive oil works-one acts on the shaft of the cuticle while the other is a sealant.
Thrift stores have a great selection of real silk scarves. I look at the tags.
You are so pretty
Pamela Macklin you should see her without makeup, it’s crazy lol❤️

Hi Gorgeous! You just popped up in my suggestions and thank goodness! We have similar textures!! I look forward to more of your videos. 🤗😍🤗
A few of these tips really helped me.

I find that if I go to my local thift store "Savers" they have lots of silk scarves to choose from. Especially in the summer time.
Catrinia Smith definitely!
You are so pretty!!! I can't really figure out if I'm 4C or 4B??!!
Totally subscribing I love your content!
I always long before I went natural hate gel never liked it then don’t like it now
Type 4 hair has more sheen vs shine
First! Major love from South Africa 🇿🇦❤️
Thank you siz! U really helped me on the point regarding deep conditioners. Most 2 do nothing 2 my hair. 😪
These are good tips. I agree... I need to not focus on the look but feel.

Just saying, you are beautiful!
What’s your porosity? I find my porosity gives me more info on what to use rather than my type. Aloe tends to dry mine out.
I'm high porosity and my hair hates aloe as well. What's your porosity?
Kimberley Grimes Parts are high ( especially my 4C sections) and some seem normal.
Excellent question! Her tips don't work for low porosity hair. My hair hates creams and works with aloe vera gel, glycerin, water, etc.

Check out Keisha g. She did a tutorial on head scarves and were to find them especially silk scarves.
Honestly I knew it was a satin bonnet that I owed but I use a silk scarf before I put it on I just use the bonnet to keep the scarf from slipping off.

Yess👏🏾👏🏾
Moisture retention has more to do with porosity than hair type or texture
Thank you for all tips!! Your hair is like mine!! The earrings are Gorgeous btw!!😊
Do you have a natural hair product stash video?
Aloe vera juice is saving my 4c hair.
How do you use aloe vera?
@@cdurant14 mixed with rose water and spray it on wet hair.
@@keishaj5993 thanks!
