- Wing Zero Custom is a mobile suit that is very special to me. The original Master Grade kit from 2004 was a gift from my wife (then girlfriend) many moons ago, so to see it get a full overhaul 16 years later makes me a very happy man. It's also gundarium tier. Le't check it out!

This kit is pretty affordable I bought 2 the first week it came out lol
But it’s only 60 bucks? I spent 84 on a master grade sinanju. So this one was way cheaper so I think it’s not that much.
Man this looks more like an RG than the actual RG does. The color separation and detail is so good.
The RG still carries the wing BP flaw but this one doesnt.
At first Glance i thought it was an RG because of how surface details it has.. But its A new MG

The Unicorn Gundam and the Banshee were both originallydesigned by Katoki and were given the Ver. Ka. treatment

Same. I still would have preferred the ver ka to be something else like the Zeta, but this definitely surpassed my expectations. I'm not really even a fan of Wing, but I'll probably be picking this up at some point

But in the new comic, Glory of Losers, it appeared more, it replaced anime Wing Zero (which they called Proto Zero)
It was a shame all the main suits didn't have much screen time. At least wing zero had a fancy reveal
The little blue chest piece isn't loose on my kit.The instructions say to "tightly fit the parts as far as they will go" so I shoved them in solid before assembling the rest and closing it up! Hope that helps other people.
If you look in the instructions, there is a colour guide you can use in case you want to paint this kit. Specifically, if you don't want to use the foil stickers on the clear parts because you think they look cheap, then try painting the back of them metallic silver (or, chrome) first, and then use a mix of 50% clear paint, 35% clear green, and 15% clear blue, to paint the front of them. The paint is transparent, and if you didn't use too much, it should let enough light in to reflect off of the silver paint behind it to create a "glowing" effect.
Mah dude. He made a little mistake. Stickers should go UNDER clear parts. I almost made that mistake myself during the build. It looks good. Trust me.
For the loose chest part, open up the top half of the chest and insert that loose piece from above. it will be a lot more secured if done that way.
This kit's head and body frame are super tight, so tight that I had to sand down some of the connecting points to make it fit perfectly.
Also highly recommend picking up panel lining liquid as well when you get this kit. The wings definitely need some grey panel lines to make the details pop

@@pretzel1313 the name is panel line accent colour by Tamiya. It’s an enamel based paint and you can wipe away the excessive paint with a qtip and lighter fluid.

@@ronaldming22 It works really well but it can cause the plastic to become brittle as it is solvent based. I had a small part crumble on me. Use with care.
Funny that this kit is sorta special to you Mecha;
2 years ago I was going through a really rough patch in my personal life. I decided to start building again to keep my mind busy and on a whim I decided to get the Proto-Zero. As I was working on it my father passed away about a week before Christmas.
Kinda ironic that the Zero Custom gets a Ver Ka release 2 years later at at the same time of the year. So needless to say I'm waiting on mine to arrive this week lol.
Maybe you can dedicate the build to your father!
Gunpla has gotten me through some of my hardest times. In can be extremely meditative, draw you in and take your mind off things for a while.

Yep, the old MG I have has the rubber feather break apart after a few years. I have a friend who made resin parts to mold the parts from resin. its not perfect but its much better.

I can agree this kit is amazing, I definitely want to get it after watching this video! I just don't think that this is Gundarium Tier IMO, this seems like a Platinum Tier kit. It didn't really bring new things to the Grade, it's just Wing Zero brought up to the new current standards. I think that he's got some nostalgia bias coming into play here, but maybe it's just me.
EDIT: ok I got the kit in my hands finally, this is some seriously impressive shit so far and I've only built the chest. I can agree that this is something insanely good, better than what we've been getting as of late.

The chest vent on mine was also loose at first, but once you try to push it in hard enough in the right way, it will just stay in there.
My brother and I both got this amazing kit. Same problem with chest vent. We both used the tamiya extra thin cement to hold it in place 🤪
Just push til it "click". I almost broke the element. It need a lot of force. I was afraid I break the damn thing.

the RG looks like a classic kit now despite being released in 2014. The MG Ver. Ka has really outclassed the RG version in every way.
i cannot wait to get this kit. Wing has a special place in my heart, both being my first Gundam series and what got me into Gunpla because of my older brother. My first kit was the NG 1/144 sandrock.

The RG hasn't hand grenaded on me yet, it's been pretty solid so far.
I got the rg when it first released and been fiddling with it a lot over the years, it's still very solid exept for a hand socket that is very loose at this point. I might have to tighten it the next time I change his pose.
This is overall amazing! Nonetheless the detail and effort you put into this mg gundam is just spectacular! I'm happy for you to do these gundam videos! It makes me know what to get and how good it looks!

The posed pilot figures has always been one of the reasons I’ve loved real grades. My favorite is the Setsuna from Exia (I think, otherwise Quanta) where he’s leaning. Haven’t painted Trieze from the RG Tallgeese 2 but that posed pilot figure is pretty cool too. Glad they started doing it for MGs as well

I just finished the 2004 version and man it was an awesome model to build, it was my very first gunpla model to get me introduced and man It has become my new hobby. Currently waiting anxiously for this model and the RG nu gundam and man my hands can’t wait to build em
Tip: Don't bother connecting the second hand, just flip one handle up and use the forarm connection. Only using one hand always works on my original Zero, and you bet I'll test it on my Ver. Ka but I'm pretty sure it should work.
Even though I already own a Metal Composite version of Wing zero, this version is also way too beautiful that I just had to buy it...
I must say, Bandai did an awesome job with this kit. Definately was worth the wait.

I had the same issue with that right part of the chest. Kept falling out. But fear not! There is a point where you can push it in enough til it ‘clicks’. Stopped falling out since then 👍🏻
Heyooo!!! Couple months late on this. New builder here btw!! I’m in the process of making this exact model’s chest n I found the solution for the front chest vents. The piece actually needs to be placed from above, sliding onto the grooves inside the frame. If you push it in from the front, you won’t be able to “push as far as it goes,” like the instructions say. Literally was working on that section 5 min ago so first hand experience, hope this helps the newbies like mee!!

Just now building this kit and honestly can’t wait to see it once it’s done!
Finally got mine and all the parts ready. In assembly phase now. I’m building a “DIY Snow White prelude” and it’s transformation is supported by over 100 2x1mm magnets. I had the same problem with my chest vents. I solved the gun issue. First: 8 2x1mm magnets make the gun flush, and I used an RG ball and socket(from the waist of RG wing zero) to allow the gun handle to splay just a little bit so both pointer fingers on the manipulators don’t touch. I hope to finish it this year. YT video coming soon.
That waist joint scares me man, I've broken them on my Justice and just went ahead and replaced the ones on my Freedom
I never understood why Wing 0 EW's knee armor never seem to be made to connect with the lower leg. I guess it's part of the transformation, but still kind of a shame bcs this kit's separating leg armor is so cool.
I have this kit, and I also had to glue in those little vent parts too. Also I painted up all the clear parts on this with a metallic green Gundam marker. Also you can get the iconic bunker shot pose to work, just don’t plug the twins into the arms, and it’ll work.
I have the rg nu gundam coming in the mail, hopefully today. After watching this, I ordered this kit. Wing Zero Custom is my favorite gundam, so I can't wait for it. Thanks for the great review.

I am so glad I got a preorder in for this beautiful beast.
Usually with the twin buster rifle I find it easiest to keep one of the handles folded up and just position the hand to look like it’s holding it in the hand, that way the hands aren’t conflicting with one another
This is kinda making me wish that Bandai updates the RG with the aesthetic and features of the Ver. Ka.
But how can the wings gracefully flap if they have guns strapped underneath them
The angle of the dropped leg can be an advantage. Finally I can live my dream of doing ballet with the wing zero custom.

yup, my right chest vent was also loose. dabbed some topcoat onto the pegs and it fit fine after drying!
Kinda funny seeing this 3 years later as the Wing Zero EW Ver.Ka was my first MG build. And yes. I had the same problem with that exact vent not wanting to stay in. Loved the kit though. And it was also thanks to your videos I took my first steps into Panel lining as well

So so so much glue with the HiRes Wing Zero Custom. It was my second build ever after a HG grand dad. Ended up gluing down the neck "collar" both "ears" and the v-fin.
Just curious, when shaken the joint holding the wings looks like they will break... or will it not?
They will if you are not careful, some Chinese gunpla TH-camr break theirs during filming

and if you have paint you can just paint it green!
and if you have green leds then you can just use the clear part
without the sticker!

@@Searae Yea that was a bit of an oversight, you could still drill a small hole behind it and fit a green led but I would've liked a clear plastic piece on the front :(

I'm applying the water slides as i'm watching this. One extra thing I'd like to comment on is the water slides are much thicker than those we had in the previous Ver. Ka kits. The last one I built was FAZZ, and they were so easily torn. These new ones are awesome!

I am proud of my self for holding this long before finally buying my first MG Wing Gundam. Yes, you heard it right! This is my first MG Wing Gundam. The one happened to be the best of the best if them. No regrets.
I am getting this one today! Im excited to build it, thats why im rewatching younr review of this today. Question though, i noticed your display shelf does not have a glass door. How do you keep your gundams dust free, of if they do collect dust, how troublesome is it to clean the dust off seeing you have a whole lot of collection there?
If you want to dobthe the final pose perfectly, just use one rifle hand for the combined twin buster rifle and use the open hands for the other handle

@Mecha Gaikotsu dude, been watching your videos since I got back into building Gunpla early on this year, and your reviews have yet to not entertain, although this one was a major plus, because I was lucky enough to find a copy of this particular kit at my local hobby shop for $70, about a week or so after you made this video. In other words, you made it a no brainer of a purchase, although I haven't started on it yet. Looking forward to working on it soon, though! I'll let you know if I have that same problem you had once mine's done.
So question: what color markers did you use to panel line? I only have gray atm and wanting to get more to really make this (and dynames im getting with it) pop.

I haven't build mine, still trying to figure out which color to paint those clear parts.
Maybe a chrome and then a clear green or maybe use the greem gundam marker and paint it using that

On the rg, I got it to hold the buster rifle by using the pre-posed holding hand on both sides but because of the spacing, I removed the fingers on one side

So I just finished my own build of this kit and I am in LOVE!!! The detail, the build, everything is beautiful. I will say I was a bit bummed when I found out the chest piece had the same issue as yours. But wasn’t a hard fix.
I am curious to know though if you had any problems with joints being nerve wrackingly tight or loose wrist armor parts.
For the combined Buster rifle pose I always used only one handle in the right hand, and use the open posed left hand to cradle the right.

I just bought the High Res Kit like 2 years ago. and it was Incredible! albeit a bit Janky, parts were falling off a lot! but this Kit... WOW! this kit Looks Phenomenal!
No idea if someone mentioned it, but i know it from the old MG kit, those little nubby hooks on the back of the buster rifles? Those are meant to hook on the chest shroud around the jewel! Been a while since i did the pose with the joined rifle but i remember making it rather solid in pose.
