About the finish on your Hyaku Shiki, the plastic and paint does degrade with time, it is what it is, but you can restore them back up by dusting them off with a makeup brush and coating them or using something like Gunprimer's Glazer to give them a semi gloss sheen. Try it out.

I've been acting as the primary builder for my friends kit and after taking the large metal frame from around the etched parts. You can take a alcohol swab and rub it around the back of the etched bits allows the parts to lift off the tacky green film easier. Any remaining gunk comes off with a good rubbing of the swab aswell. But clean the metal before gluing the metal etched parts on as the alcohol will effect the finish on the metalic parts.
@@dsupreme4058 yes it's nice but it looks less practical because it's very luxurious, feels weak if you understand what I mean, like a wrench 🔧 that has gold parts and looks intricate, feels like it's for view only

Mecha, the dragoons can clip onto the gold part of the wings, there in the middle there's a bit of a clip you can slot the side of a dragoon onto so they all pount forward around it.
The reason they changed the wrist on the articulated fingers is because that part often comes undone over time if there is a weapon being held up. Every single kit I own with one of those has the wrist come apart and start drooping awkwardly in the weapon holding hand.
Hey Mecha, you might be interested in DDB’s third party MGEX Wings of Destiny effect parts set. It really takes this kit to the next level. It includes Wing effect parts, little stands to hold the dragoons, and even effect parts for the dragoons themselves. Would love to see/hear your opinion on it.

I can see Bandai making an MGEX Wing Gundam Zero EW (Custom) in the future. It’s inevitable. I mean, if they handle it like they did with the Ver. Ka, then it’ll be a solid MGEX. Give it the Drei Zwerg weapons and the Neo-Bird Mode and it’ll be the definitive, ultimate Wing Zero EW kit.

Considering how Bandai have been with P Bandai Expansion sets as of late, as well as this being one of their most popular mobile suits, there is no doubt in my mind that there will be a wings of light + flying dragoon stand expansion set coming sometime in the near future.
It totally has the complexity of PG unleashed. So, in the future for kits like this, in MG scale it will be called MGEX, and for PG scale it's PGU. I wonder if they're gonna do the same for the 1/144 scale, considering the modern RG is a big upgrade from the HG line in terms of details for 1/144 scale. Even the SD line got the MGSD treatment, i cant wait what the future will bring to the gunpla world

Thank you for answering my question :) I'm actually surprised that the MGEX is a higher quality cause the HiRM felt really premium to me and the funny thing is that I didn't even realize that I have the MGEX Unicorn in my backlog lol. I'll have to build it soon so I can compare that MGEX version (it could lesser quality since it was the first version) to the 4 HiRM I currently have (Barbatos, Both Wing models and the God Gundam) cause I know there is definitely a quality difference there between when Barbatos released and the God Gundam version.
How I see it is the MG is the anime drawn version due to the artists having to draw it tons of time in many types of poses but the MGEX is how it actually looks in the anime universe, how it's meant to look.

9:30 The fact that most of the red plastic stickers in the inner frame are circular and most of them are in what would be high-friction articulation areas on the actual suit really makes me think those are supposed to be actual jewels - mechanical watches use a ton of circular pink sapphires in high-friction areas to help reduce friction and hold lubricating oil.

I think you should have shown the moving mechanisms during Phase One, without the armor, but I guess I can't complain since I didn't think to mention it on the previous video.

When i looked at Metal Build SF, i thought that bandai can never reimagine the design way cooler than that. Well how wrong i am when they release MGEX SF.. Glad i pre-ordered it!
who knows, maybe they can finally make a wing zero custom that doesnt self destruct, i mean, i know they are trying to go for anime accurate, but there's a limit...
Can’t wait for mine to arrive! I hope that the wing joints on this one are sturdier than the ones on the old MG and don’t warp as easily after spreading the wings a few times. Crossing my fingers for a future Wings of Light expansion too!
in the korean bandai channel it had a demo where you can attach the dragoon bits in way that its facing forward you may want to look into that but the official manual doesnt suggest it so it might not be recommended, mileage may vary
If the Transformers line of toys is any indication; trying to make gold plastic or even gold-coating (using enamel paints) ABS plastic results in more brittle plastic. If Bandai mistakenly issued some of the gold-plated parts to be molded in ABS, then when they went back to coat it, they reduced the structural integrity of the parts.
Maybe they could try the drum laquered gold that lego uses nowadays? I don't know the science behind it so it might not be possible but that gold looks really good.
@@muisverriet This was largely because they mostly stopped trying to inject the gold into the plastic and went with the default of "lets just paint it after molding" like everyone else does. Chrome gold parts are as sturdy as any other, but the ones with the swirling metallic color in the plastic itself still have problems - gold or otherwise; more recent examples have been in the "gunmetal" colored parts. Case in point, the 2015 Motormaster figure had a fragile waist due to GPS.
@@Madara8989 Well, the Motormaster figure in question was also the last ever appearance of the issue. The problem was the type of plastic used, something at the microscopic level caused it to break down and shatter. Newer gold plastic used has a different formula that doesn't have the issue anymore.
@@muisverriet it wasn't the plastic, it was the fact that the color was achieved by mixing metal fleks in the mixture, and those fleks couldn't bond properly with the plastic, causing microscopic air bubbles in said plastic. Motor master may have been the last new figure to suffer from the problem (as they no longer mix metal into the plastic), but the issue was only solved relatively recently. There's still 30+ years worth of figures that suffer from the issue.
It's a little busy for my taste, but not as egregiously busy and overly-detailed as the PGU Granddaddy. Definitely nice to hear that they undergated it so nicely. Maybe we'll actually see it on more than 1/10th of the pieces on a handful of kits like we've seen so far.
Got that one and boy, what a pleasure it was to assemble and to deal with the final product, I can only wish for MGEX infinite justice now to make the pair, maybe MGEX providence or Destiny as well (or both).
It look more like an over size real grade, wich is fantastic. I was about to buy this kit but it was too expansive, so I decide to go for the past gumpla king (rg hi nu gundam), but that doesn't mean I dont going to buy this kit in a near future 🤫. This review just show me that maybe this is one of those things you cant missing out. Thanks Mecha, amazing work as always.
This is something I'd really love to see with a "paint it yourself" option, kind of eco-pla style. Toss whatever recycled PS they've got into the molds and you could do all the finish work on the parts and paint them on your own. Honestly I'd like that option on any kit, but I understand that'd be super tough to handle logistics wise.
I thought the Ecopla kits would be less expensive since they don't have colored parts, but all the ones I've seen are like double the normal price for some reason?
While Its not one of my favorite gundams and strongly perfer the original freedom this kit is really well made and such a treat for the eyes, great review.

im not a huge fan of clear kits, but i imagine this would be stunning with clear translucent armor
I want my MGEX Strike Freedom to fall and break. Not because I hate it, but because I love it and I want a excuse to buy a new one to build
If it breaks sell it to me
such a bummer most sites are sold out of this, been wanting a Strike Freedom MG for quite a while
When i looked at Metal Build SF, i thought that bandai can never reimagine the design way cooler than that. Well how wrong i am when they release MGEX SF.. Glad i pre-ordered it!
YES I’ve been waiting for an English reveiw keep it up mecha AMAZING vid as always
Hope they make MGEX versions of the Nu and Wing zero gundams as well. Fantastic review BTW, can't wait for mine to arrive.
who knows, maybe they can finally make a wing zero custom that doesnt self destruct, i mean, i know they are trying to go for anime accurate, but there's a limit...
If this had come out at the same time as the Metal Build, I would have purchased this kit instead especially since it would have saved me over $200.
I see it as strike freedom as it was intended finally made reality. I prefer this design over what we got but both are good
Can’t wait for mine to arrive! I hope that the wing joints on this one are sturdier than the ones on the old MG and don’t warp as easily after spreading the wings a few times. Crossing my fingers for a future Wings of Light expansion too!
Ngl kira's cockpit seat must be insanely warm considering he sits on top of a giant cannon
Thank you for this great review. Im looking forward to get my order for this. Kudos and more power to your channel.
in the korean bandai channel it had a demo where you can attach the dragoon bits in way that its facing forward you may want to look into that but the official manual doesnt suggest it so it might not be recommended, mileage may vary
FYI the fragile gold plastic on TF toys doesn't exist anymore
I want to see this and the Metal Build compared together.
It's a little busy for my taste, but not as egregiously busy and overly-detailed as the PGU Granddaddy. Definitely nice to hear that they undergated it so nicely. Maybe we'll actually see it on more than 1/10th of the pieces on a handful of kits like we've seen so far.
I can see this as best kit of 2022
cant wait to get my hands on one of these and do some shading into a titanium white for the amour with a nice deep metallic blue
Definitely want to get my hands on this kit at some point maybe after I get pg banshee and mgex unicorn down the line
Got that one and boy, what a pleasure it was to assemble and to deal with the final product, I can only wish for MGEX infinite justice now to make the pair, maybe MGEX providence or Destiny as well (or both).
I'm in the middle of building this kit. I just finished the Inner Frame and the Wings and good lord this kit is awesome.
Super excited to get this model in the next few days it’s gonna be my first MGEX kit hopefully I’m prepared after PGU and PG Banshee
that feeling when you just spent all your money on MG Virtue and GM Sniper and then this vid pops up...
@@darktitan3025 yeah I thought they're be cheaper too considering they're ecopla
Yesterday my BF finished this build and holy crap its an amazing one!
For the tiny stickers, you can paint them in instead of trying to get them in their spot.
While Its not one of my favorite gundams and strongly perfer the original freedom this kit is really well made and such a treat for the eyes, great review.
"So you actually throw some of these plastic stickers on, AND THEN COVER IT, a bit strange..." Not thirty seconds prior: "You're almost tempted to grab two of these!"
I think you answered your own question there, my guy.
This looks like a metal build gundam straight out from seeing it . I LOVE IT
This MGEX is amazing such a beautiful master piece that another level :)
Great review. Unluckily not available to purchase at now. After having airbrushed my RX78-2 Unleashed… I’ll sure paint this one as well: too nice! Any examples out there?
I feel like this mgex is bandai's response to how good that bootleg looks,
bootlegger: bandai can't deliver you this good of detail in strike freedom
bandai: hold my beer
Hoping we get the Infinite Justice next so we can pair both together.
Bro, Infinite Justice needs an update so badly. We need to start a movement.
Me still waiting for a MG Legend Gundam🥲
It's gorgeous! Unfortunately I may need to wait for another year or two to get this as the reseller's price may require an arm lmao
you know its good when mecha gaikotsu put up a 40+ mins video review🤣
The Strike Freedom is perfection incarnate.
Just started Gunpla this year April, and I already have built 49 MGs. Glad to see such positivity for this kit despite the high price tag. Amazing review, and thanks for guiding me on my own gunpla adventure as well. You rock!
49 MG's? I have build 33 HG/RG/MG model kits since 2-3 years lol
I envy your wallet
@@Daskanoess he probably has the money for it probably a good job I started building about 3 years ago and I have about almost 100 of all grades of kits built but I alot ey to control my budget per month
Im waiting for mine to ship, but hotdamn im super excited to ge it here. Strike Freedom is my favorite gundam ever and even tho im still amateurish in gunpla I went and spend on this one because I need a crown jewel of my collection.
if i get it someday, i'll wash the gold plastic with Agrax Earthshade to darken the recess & panel line. because that looks hell of a work to paint on.
I actually bought two of these because the first one will arrive and the 2nd one, I saw a shop that sells it in a lower price that will arrive in January. Time to sell the other one!!!
I can already see the future of top 10 gunpla for this year!
This Gunpla is so shiny, you could also put it on top of your Christmas tree 🎄
If my parents let me, I actually might try to do that lol
I jumped into the deep end, this is my first Gunpla!! so hyped!!!
