Yep, every song has a great melody and that is what counts to me. I don't care about how many chords or chord structure or instrumental bits. Just give me great melodies like Noel produces and I'll take that any day over Art School "get out your algorithm chart" rock like Radiohead. They haven't had a good melody since OK Computer. Ha I agree though I wouldn't totally discount Radiohead. Their last few albums haven't been to the level of OK Computer but occasionally they have a stunner of a song, Codex for me anyways. But Noel is peerless in my opinion.

Noel is a really hard musician to grasp onto. Many hear his lyrics and think they are simple and abstract, myself included, but I have found that there is a constant struggle between Noel and God (and his absence) thematic throughout almost all of his music. This song is a prime example of that, along with songs like "Listen Up" and "Falling Down". For me, this is possibly the best song he has ever released. Some people are looking for arena rock anthems like Oasis, and some are looking for a soaring chorus, which this song neither has and shouldn't have. The song speaks for itself with it's eloquent rising and fading with brilliantly written thematic lyrics over a consistent beat. I pity those who can call something like this bad, because it is pure lyrical genius. The songs that don't "catch" you on the first listen often times come around to slam you in the face later once you realize what it means. Have your opinions, but please, don't hate the beauty that's in front of you just because it wasn't what you expected.
Im a huge Noel fan i agree here i taught it was bollocks then i listened a few more times GODLIKE the end part that sound were he looks up at the shoes i could listen to that all day im only dissapointed tere wasnt more of that sound in the song very Manchester sounding epic.

This is by far the best song Noel has done since he left Oasis. He had good songs AKA...What A Life was great but there were times it reminded me too much of Bear McCreary'ss all along the watchtower. Everything Noel does is always great. But for me, this is Noel trying something different but at the same time keeping up with tradition.

Well it was more Noel's relentless attempts to get people to listen to their music as well as the fact that he was able to create these songs. Liam's attitude added to it sure, but Noel's work behind the scenes ultimately created the groups success.

There are a lot of bands and artist out there with a fresh sound man. You just got to look for them. I like the Old Rock music too but hanging on for too long is dangerous. You should give bands like Mac demarco or king krule a chance. Young artists with a fresh sound, all handmade.

Can't believe some of the negative comments on here. I think this is one of Noel's best songs. Yes it's not Campagne Supernova/The Masterplan/Slide Away etc... but those songs have already been written. NGHFB is better off for being different to Oasis. It means he can be a bit more creative with chords/structures. If every song he wrote had a massive anthem sing-along chorus it would get boring pretty quickly and they'd end up being worse and worse clones of songs he's already written.
Also he has good energy in the eyes.

This band shouldn’t be my style of music at all (and I hate Wonderwall). But I’ve heard maybe 4 songs by Noel’s Birds, and they were all really great songs. There’s something strangely untraceable beautiful about his songwriting & voice, and the production & instrumentation of this band. Definitely checking out more tonight

What a fucken great song. So underrated as a singer songwriter. I love the Gallaghers. Obviously all throughout Europe, and especially the UK, The Gallagher Brothers, are Huge. But i live in Sydney Australia, and Oasis and now Noel Gallagher's, "High Flying Birds", are very popular too. And Liam Gallagher has a similar following here in Australia too.
Hahah I'm laughing so hard at "lots of energy in the eyes" i remember in the time flies commentaries Noel talked about a music video director that told him to do the take again but with more energy in his eyes. Love the references with that there and how much Noel hates filming music videos. this is a great one though. great tune as well! God - like genius indeed.
