Er ist weder eine klassische Rampensau, noch ein besonders innovativer Künstler. Aber zwei Dinge kann Noel Gallagher wie kaum ein anderer: Welthits schreiben und die Klappe aufreißen. In Letzterem übertrifft ihn nur sein jüngerer Bruder Liam.
Noel Gallagher hat in den neunziger Jahren die englische Musikszene entscheidend mitgeprägt. Für seine Band Oasis schrieb er nicht nur Welthits, er machte den Typus des rauhen, fußballbegeisterten "Lads" salonfähig und lieferte gemeinsam mit seinem Bruder Liam regelmäßig Stories für die Klatschpresse. Die Streits der beiden Brüder sind dank ihrer Heftigkeit legendär. Dazu kamen jede Menge verbale Entgleisungen, gerne auch gegen andere Künstler und Bands wie ihre Konkurrenten von Blur.
Nach der Jahrtausendwende wurde es ruhiger um die Gallaghers, ihre Streits jedoch schlimmer, bis Noel schließlich den Hut nahm und sein Soloprojekt Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds gründete. Noels Comeback gelang zunächst besser als das seines Bruders Liam mit der Band Beady Eye. Kritik und Fans waren gleichermaßen zufrieden mit Noels Output, der sein Songwriting-Talent mit Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds voll auslebt, ohne direkt an den Oasis-Sound anzuknüpfen.
Das selbstbetitelte Debüt schoss 2011 an die Spitze der Charts. Kein Wunder, klingt das Album doch im Vergleich zum Oasis-Spätwerk entspannt, frisch und endlich wieder leidenschaftlich. 2015 erschien das zweite Album "Chasing Yesterday", 2017 das dritte mit dem Titel "Who Built The Moon?". Am 9. September desselben Jahres war die Band Headliner des Benefizkonzerts "We Are Manchester" in der Manchester Arena nach der dortigen Terrorattacke im Mai.
2019 tourten Gallagher und Band mit den Smashing Pumpkins durch die USA. 2021 erschien mit "Back The Way We Came: Vol. 1 (2011-2021)" das erste Greates-Hits-Album der High Flying Birds mit zwei brandneuen Songs darauf. Es wurde Noel Gallaghers insgesamt zwölftes Nr. 1-Album im Vereinigten Königreich. 2023 folgte "Council Skies", das vierte Studioalbum der Band und eine große Co-Headliner-Tour durch die USA, zusammen mit der Band Garbage.

Please come back to the States in 2024!!! I was a tepid fan back in the Oasis days, but rediscovered recently, and that steered me towards the solo stuff which is fantastic!!!

I enjoyed seeing this tour. If you see him live do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself with his solo catalog. I find it is really enjoyable. To be fair I appreciate the big man's solo work as well. Cheers.

Basically means he started the song poorly. Notice how they don't all start playing until a beat later and then they recover it. Drummer also does a 4 count to get them back on track.

Schön, wieder dich zu sehen und zu hören. Niemand seine rechte Hand so genau wie du. Mittlerweile lege ich nun auch den Ringfinger auf die hohe E-Saite auf.Dadurch kann ich das einklappen nach innen vermeiden. Besonders geholfen hat mir, dass ich wie du es machst, das erste Fingerglied leicht durchzustehen drücken. Dadurch kann ich den Druck nach innen ablenken. LG Thomas!

One note on this performance: Wish he'd let Robert Smith come on stage and sing it. OMG that would be so badass. Oasis and the Cure, two of the best.
