25 Years On: The Iconic FanMail by TLC

In this video, we're celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of TLC's third studio album FanMail. An album that included huge hits like No Scrubs and Unpretty brought TLC to a whole new audience and put them at the forefront of the Y2K pop sound and aesthetic. its crazy that t-boz hated "shout" and lefteye hated "good at being bad" (she wanted a song similar to janet jackson's "what about"), those were some of the best tracks on there. and ghetto enuff sounds like it was recorded for fanmail and they just gave it away kinda like what outkast (andre 3000) did with kelis song "millionaire".

oh I didn't know that! 😮 I always assumed Left Eye liked I'm Good At Being Bad since it's one of the few songs she did a rap for.

I remember the day I bought the cassette probably final days of Feb ‘99 and I listened to it for days nonstop. It was a Turkish cassette release and the booklet was so short lol only 2 pages as I remember. ALL of the songs are beautiful and ALL of them were ahead their time. FanMail is my 2nd best album of ‘99 after Melanie C’s “Northern Star” which released 8-9 months later and has a collaboration with late Left Eye on the song Never Be The Same Again. RIP.

Wow the edits and that intro were so good. Love TLC and this album. They don't make them like they use too smh. Pop music has gotten so boring after 2016.

I remember this era well with She'kspere being one of the hottest producers who went on to get singles for the Destiny's Child follow up album. Also the No Scrubs video heavily influenced by Michael and Janet's Scream video. Great in depth look at this album amd singles!
