I got an 18' M3 3 months ago. Car is a blast and the turbos are fun. As a "purist" aka someone that's never owned a turbo car this thing is a hoot. I had an s2000 and an e46 M3 before this and those were more fun when I remember them but this is surprisingly wayyyy more reliable (s2000 included, at least from my experience) and wayyyyyyy faster. Honestly more fun too but I haven't admitted that to myself yet.
I saw this car a while back & sent them an offer but ultimately pulled out because I want BSM on SO. Absolutely stunning car that’s optioned to the moon, especially with the M Performance parts.
Beautiful spec ,yes that is OEM M spec pack. You have the MPEv2 with CF tips and full Titanium exhaust system. I believe it is also the best sounding M3 for a turbo engine. If you ever wanna let it go i'll buy it lol. I miss my f80 m3 with that same spec. I went g80 and it doesnt have the same drama and excitement. Enjoy it !

Does this engine need major preventative engine work like the E9X? I’m new to BMW. I’ve always been a JDM guy but for my next car I was looking between M or AMG. I have a relatively bad perception of BMW reliability based on anecdotes, but nothing empirical.

Good to hear the engines are reliable but I also hope the transmission and electronics are reliable. I’ve noticed a lot of high end manufacturers using plastics for critical components such as radiators, which break down and leak sooner than later. What year is your M3?
This car does not have the S58 instead it has the S55. It’s a very solid engine regardless. People do change out the crank hub but it’s one of those things that some people think is a scare tactic and some people replace it just in case. Otherwise the car can have valve cover, oil pan and oil filter housing gasket leaks as BMW seems to use shit gaskets in their engines. Great engine overall. The S58 on the new G8x cars take it up a notch and really have no apparent flaws.

ISFs are nice, I’d try & keep it. That’s a for life car. With that said the F80 is a huge upgrade in pretty much every way.
