I’ve been watching you do your magic for years now and the question I have is how you learned to do this type of work? Did you go to a school or learned by hands on training? However you acquired the many skills you have, you are an asset to your community!

OJT is the best way to learn, in my experience. I, myself, am largely self taught in mechanical, electrical, electronics, plumbing, computers and programming. I’ve had to be a jack of all trades to survive and I’m grateful for all those who have taught me these skills.
@@hjemison Much of what I've learned, over the decades, has been "on the job," though I wasn't getting paid, lol! My father-in-law taught us, as he, my wife, and I remodeled our entire house, plumbing, electrical, gas, carpentry, cabinetry, drywalling, painting, etc, etc. There was a certain amount of "deconstruction" that was also needed, because of the cracked and crumbling horsehair plaster in all but one of the rooms. (Hanging sheets of plastic over doorways does NOT stop that dust from traveling, for anyone who might be contemplating the same kind of task!) I would agree with you that hands-on is the best way to learn things; for example, hitting the wrong nail when you're swinging a hammer will definitely improve your memory the next time you pick that tool up! 😁

Lin. You are incredible! How are you able to carry that huge electric motor with pully on your back? You must be Supergirl. LOL! By the way. The machine you fixed is called a woodchipper in the U.S.A.

I'd have the owner check his power leads to the motor. The possibility of "dirty" lines would aid in the burn out. The smaller pulley was an excellent solution as well.
Linguoer created a device that would pull out windings but she isn't using it here? Anyway, it's relaxing just watching her refurbish motors...she is the boss!
Hey Ling, these motors that you are packing around in you plastic bucket are beginning to appear somewhat bigger and heavier. Please get you a personalized battery powered electric motor all terrain tires flatbed to haul this larger stuff around. Wouldn't want to see you hurt your back.
To carry an electric motor 11kw is too heavy. But she able to carry at her back. With her age at that, it is possible. I appreciate her patience in doing her job despite the difficulties, she can still afford to smile.
By using an electromagnetic switch, if an overcurrent continues to flow, the circuit can be cut off before the motor burns out, preventing it from burning out.
I’m curious how she got started on her repair / refurbish career path. Rewinding electrical motors doesn’t seem to be a common task most would just start doing.
She started her formal training by enrolling in Kunming University in 2013, where she studied water conservancy and hydropower engineering. She has continued learning by a tried-and-true method that has stood the test of time; she asked elder tradespeople in her village and the surrounding areas for information, training, and advice. What better guide than someone who has already walked the road and discovered the shortcuts? As to her reasons for learning to repair electric motors, according to one article: “Lin Guoer was born in a small mountain village in Yanjin County of Zhaotong City in China’s southwestern Yunnan Province. It’s a mountainous and highly-forested region, where the village would often be hit by power cuts. As a result, many people kept a diesel generator in their home. “ 'When I was a child, every time I encountered a power failure, I saw the grown-ups take out the diesel engine and pull on its long cord. The machine roared, the power came back and the dark room lit up!', said Lin, recalling how her passion for all things electromechanical was ignited. Soon thereafter, she was the one yanking on the pull-start cord.”

Well, I don't see any reason chickens wouldn't be acceptable. I've seen boards... and geese... and goats... anything that would be of value to someone who lives in a rural area, where bartering is still a way of sustaining life. In fact, she built a concrete "pond" and stocked it with fish that she'd earned for a repair, fish that would make more fish and provide meals in days yet to come. THAT is the kind of "investing for the future" that doesn't require brokers OR their dart boards. 😉
I just recently saw photos of her beautiful twin daughters! I'm sure they will learn, by observing her example, to be creative, curious, and hardworking!
